office restarts<br />

in-person services<br />

You can now once again meet with MLA<br />

Michelle Mungall and her staff in person about<br />

provincial government issues. Following public<br />

health guidelines and recommendations from<br />

WorkSafeBC, MLA Mungall’s Nelson community<br />

office at 433 Josephine Street is now open<br />

for in-person meetings by appointment. To<br />

make an appointment, please contact the office<br />

by phone or email in advance.<br />

The office is observing physical distancing<br />

protocols for in-person appointments, and the<br />

public is asked to please read and follow all<br />

posted health and safety practices when visiting.<br />

“My office has remained open throughout<br />

the pandemic via phone and email, but I am<br />

pleased we are able to once again provide safe<br />

in-person service to the public at my Nelson<br />

office,” said MLA Mungall. “If you have a provincial<br />

government issue you wish to discuss in<br />

person, please make an appointment.“<br />

Since the beginning of the pandemic, MLA<br />

Mungall has had over 100 virtual meetings<br />

with small business stakeholders, chambers of<br />

commerce, local governments, and local Nelson-Creston<br />

organizations and individuals. In<br />

her role as Minister of Jobs, Economic Development<br />

and Competitiveness, and as a member of<br />

the Province’s Economic Recovery Task Force,<br />

she has been working hard to help plan BC’s<br />

economic recovery from COVID-19.<br />

This spring, MLA Mungall’s office’s normally<br />

scheduled mobile offices that provide in-person<br />

services to Creston, Kaslo and Salmo have been<br />

cancelled due to public health recommendations<br />

RDCK announces<br />

outdoor programming<br />

for Castlegar and<br />

Creston<br />

The Regional District of Central Kootenay<br />

(RDCK) Community Services is excited to offer<br />

outdoor recreational programming beginning<br />

next week in Castlegar and Creston. Registration<br />

will be open tomorrow, Wednesday <strong>June</strong> 10 at 10<br />

am.<br />

Our services in Castlegar and Creston have<br />

facilities that include large parks and outdoor<br />

open space, so we will be using these two facilities<br />

as test sites for outdoor fitness programming.<br />

To start there will only be a few offerings (Cardio<br />

and Strength Combo and Yoga) with limited class<br />

sizes so that our staff and participants are safe.<br />

These classes are on display now online and registration<br />

opens tomorrow at 10 am. Registration<br />

will be done<br />

up with alternatives to using indoor facilities,”<br />

said Joe Chirico, general manager of Community<br />

outdoor programs we will be able to offer this<br />

The RDCK announced last week (<strong>June</strong> 2) that<br />

indoor recreation facilities will not be opened<br />

until August 18, 2020 at the earliest. Based upon<br />

information from BC Public Health, regular<br />

operations of our facilities and programs is just<br />

not possible in the foreseeable future.<br />

Our indoor pools, fitness centres, meeting<br />

rooms and arenas remain closed to the public.<br />

RDCK Membership Pass holders purchased their<br />

memberships expecting to be able to participate<br />

in fitness, swimming, arena and other healthy<br />

activities at their convenience. When the RDCK<br />

begins to bring indoor opportunities back, the<br />

RDCK will not be able to meet the same level of<br />

service for time based membership pass holders.<br />
