ORDER OF SERVICE<br />
PREPARATION<br />
Light one candle as the priest says each of the first three l<strong>in</strong>es<br />
We light a light <strong>in</strong> the name of the Maker,<br />
who lit the world and breathed the breath of life for us.<br />
We light a light <strong>in</strong> the name of the Son,<br />
who saved the world and stretched out his hand to us.<br />
We light a light <strong>in</strong> the name of the Spirit,<br />
who encompasses the world and blesses our souls with yearn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
We light three lights for the Tr<strong>in</strong>ity of love:<br />
God above us, God beside us, God beneath us;<br />
the beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g, the end, the everlast<strong>in</strong>g one.<br />
We meet <strong>in</strong> the presence of God<br />
who knows our needs,<br />
hears our cries,<br />
feels our pa<strong>in</strong><br />
and heals our wounds.<br />
Grace, mercy and peace be with us all.<br />

GATHERING PRAYER<br />
Almighty God,<br />
to whom all hearts are open, all desires known<br />
and from whom no secrets are hidden:<br />
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts<br />
by the <strong>in</strong>spiration of your Holy Spirit,<br />
that we may perfectly love you,<br />
and worthily magnify your holy name;<br />
through Christ our Lord.<br />
