Rotary Role
Rotarian Rosemary Charles was recently
inaugurated as President of Wigan Rotary Club
for 2020/2021. Rosemary replaces the outgoing
President Mervyn Reeves whom Rosemary thanked
for his excellent though somewhat turbulent year
of office when he suffered personal loss, ill health
and then oversaw largescale planning changes and
cancellation of Rotary events.
Born and brought up in Downall Green, Rosemary
is the daughter of a coal miner. She worked in
industry and was the Finance Director of a Sheffield
Children’s Hospital NHS Trust, before moving back
to Wigan permanently in 2016.
Rosemary congratulated the Club on what they
had achieved this past year in raising and donating
around £15,000 recently to groups in the borough
who needed funds to help the most disadvantaged
due to the virus.

of the virus has changed patterns of behaviour and
how residents feel about dealing with the virus

the council produce a re-shaped Deal 2030 strategy.
