Nkrumah:

authoritarian
ruler and
national hero
Ghana's first president was ousted in a
coup 50 years ago. Kwame Nkrumah
wanted to turn his country into a modern
industrialized economy and to
unify Africa. He fell short of his
ambitions but is revered to this day.
On 24 February, 1966, Ghana's military staged a coup, while Nkruma was on a state visit to China. The coup plotters had the backing of the
United States. Jubilant crowds greeted the soldiers on the streets of Accra. Nkrumah was granted asylum in Guinea where he was appointed copresident.
He died in the Romanian capital Bucharest while being treated for cancer in 1972.
There are statues of Nkrumah scattered across Ghana 50 years after the military coup that ousted him. A mausoleum was built for him in Accra
and numerous streets bear his name. His face can be seen on stamps and banknotes.
"People had a number of years to look back at the Nkrumah years and reassess what he did. They are also looking for the achievements, or lack
there of, of the various military and civilian governments that succeeded him" , said Harourt Fuller, a US historian and author of a book on
Nkrumah.
There is a statue of Nkrumah in front of the African Union's headquarters in Addis Abeba, belated recognition for a pioneer in the struggle for a
United Africa.

“The president sees education, in particular high
school education, as the key to economic development,”
Kreike said. “His objective is free education from preschool
to, and including, high school for every Ghanaian. One of the
first laws he introduced after taking office, was to make secondary
schools free for all.”
Akufo-Addo took the podium, following the introduction and
explained the need for continental unity and development
among the African Union.
“We cannot be proud when nearly 413 million of the population
of Sub-Saharan Africa are impoverished,” Akufo-Addo
said. “There are 114 million African youths being unemployed,
and 89 million children of school-going age out of
school.”
To combat these issues within Ghana, Akufo-Addo outlined
his plans to target illicit mining, decrease foreign resource exploitation,
and restructure the national budget and employment
policies, pointing to the Ghanaian devotion to and increased
interest in democracy.
“The Ghanaians have manifested in this era a deep attachment
to the principles of democratic accountability, respect for liberties,
and human rights,” Akufo-Addo explained.
Akufo-Addo described this year as “the year of return” for
Africa, referencing the 400th anniversary of the first documented
slave importation to the United States in 1619.
“We intend to use the symbolism of the year of return to bring
together in Ghana Africans, persons of African descent, and
all well-wishers and lovers of freedom,” Akufo-Addo said.
“We’re also using the commemoration to deepen the ties in
Africa of their kith and kin.”
Following his speech, Akufo-Addo answered questions from
the audience concerning topics such as continental peace,
refugee crises in much of Africa, and universal healthcare.
Prior to the public lecture, Akufo-Addo met with approximately
30 undergraduate and graduate students of Ghanaian
heritage in Richardson’s basement lounge to engage in a more
intimate conversation. Justin Hinson , 21 was among the undergraduates
present.”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF Vice President Constant Omari,
FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, Development Director for Africa
and the Caribbean region Véron Mosengo-Omba, regional office
Development Manager El Hadj Wack Diop and members of the FIFA
administration travelled to Mauritania from Dakar, Senegal, where they
had attended last night’s CAF African Football Awards.
Upon arrival in Nouakchott, Mauritania’s capital city, the delegation
headed to the Presidential Palace to meet with the President of Mauritania,
Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz. The meeting focused on the important
unifying role that football plays in a multi-ethnic society, especially in
light of Mauritania’s qualification for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations
(AFCON) 2019, the first time that the country has qualified for the competition.
The meeting also provided a great platform to discuss the expanded
FIFA World Cup as of 2026 and the ongoing consultations and
discussions on its potential expansion as early as 2022.
Infantino expressed his appreciation to President Abdel Aziz for the substantial
financial contribution that the government is providing to the
Mauritanian Football Association (FFRIM), which will have a positive
impact on the performance of the national team. He also spoke about the
impressive 8,200-seater Cheikha Boïdiya Stadium in Nouakchott, which
has just been completed thanks to funding from the FIFA Forward Programme.
Following the audience with the Mauritanian President, the delegation
was shown local handicrafts and took part in a traditional Mauritanian tea
ceremony.
The next stop was the completely refurbished Cheikha Boïdiya Stadium,
where the FIFA President praised the excellent work of the FFRIM and
its President Ahmed Yahya, and their tangible achievements in developing
football infrastructure in Mauritania.
Speaking at the official inauguration of the stadium, which was attended
by football fans, media and the Mauritanian Minister of Youth and
Sports, Djindah Bal, the FIFA President said: "Firstly, I would like to
warmly congratulate Mauritania on winning the Men’s National Team of
the Year trophy at last night’s CAF African Football Awards. I also want
to congratulate the FFRIM and President Yahya on the impressive work
that the federation has carried out under his strong leadership."
"It’s a great pleasure to be here today at the official inauguration of the
Cheikha Boïdiya Stadium and we are very proud that the FIFA Forward
Programme played such a big part in its refurbishment. The FFRIM is a
great example of a successful and progressive member association and,
in fact, I often refer to it in my speeches and encourage people to visit
Mauritania to see for themselves. Mauritania’s historic qualification for
this year’s AFCON is testament to the FFRIM’s hard work. Of course,
the next step up from the AFCON is the FIFA World Cup and I know
that President Yahya has the ambition and drive to take Mauritanian football
to the highest level," he added.
Following the inauguration of the stadium, the FIFA delegation departed
for Togo.
Since she borrowed the rent a car and
crippled the process of Bob Marley
recovery in Munich, Germany.
She has gone quiet, according to the doctors
who were overseeing the ongoing
therapies of Mr. Marley’s recovery.
The plan was dismantled when she and
three other members of the Superstar
family arrived in Munich to celebrate his
36th birthday. It has been reported to
B.O.B. magazine, Ms Jobson borrowed
the rent a car and never returned it.
While other members of the family who
were on the same trip helped sabotage
the process of his treatment, by hiding
the food from the doctor’s house, which
Mr. Marley rented for his Jamaican Rasta
medical team, who was actually providing
a holistic approach to his well being.
This has become a shock to everyone,
because he was given 3 months to live,
which would have been December 1980.
Bob and his medical team went to Germany
at Dr. Issel’s medical facilities
with the most modern and advance medical
equipment at the time, to fight cancer.
These women came with the intention
creating unnecessary argument in order
to dismantle the treatment program,
only to prove to Mr. Marley that he can’t
beat the cancer that was planted in him
by unknown sources while he was touring
his last European tour.
There was ultra violet radiation light that
was placed on Mr. Marley directly in
every show when he performed .
After the show was over, Mr. Marley
returned to the US.
While jogging in central park preparing
for the US tour, Mr. Marley collapsed.
Only to discover later that he had cancer
in his lungs, brain and stomach.
According to Mr. Marley’s medical
team, headed by Dr. Carlton “Pee Wee”
Fraser, they did not find any trace of the
cancer that was removed from his toes
prior to the last tour, and he was puzzled
by the news that the cancer traveled
from Bob’s toe to his brain.. And the
world bought it. On the contrary Bob
Marley was literally murdered by forces
who did not want Africa to Unite, as it
has been said, he was helping rebels in Africa with his superstar status and funds. Some people couldn't have that.
And the final nail in the coffin was the visit of the four women who came to visits and dismantled the structure that Mr. Marley set up to fight
the cancer and eventually caused confusion among his medical team. # 1, the food was hidden from the house where the doctors lived,
# 2 the rent-a- car was never returned. # 3 the cash flow was taken away as well from the doctors, no food no transportation, no money. The
Dr’s. left with no choice but to leave Bob and his women & head for Jamaica, then women convince Dr. Issels in private to send him home to
Miami. If the therapies let him live past December 0f 1980, it should have been enforced, not dismantled . Which goes to show he did not get
any credit or support for the plan he set up to beat the deadly disease. Ego stepped in the way. And as a result of that, the world suffered the lost
of a great man, a kind and loving man, an overall wonderful human being. He was practically ahead of his time..

From his treatment
“Josef M. Issels (November 21, 1907 –
February 11, 1998) was a German physician known
for promoting an alternative cancer therapy regimen,
the Issels treatment. He claimed to cure cancer patients
who had been declared incurable by conventional
cancer treatments. During Issels' lifetime, his
methods were controversial, and in 1961 he was
charged with fraud and manslaughter for allegedly
promising fraudulent cancer cures and for the subsequent
deaths of patients under his care who refused
standard cancer treatment. An initial conviction on the
manslaughter charge was overturned in 1964 on the
grounds that Issels had genuinely believed that his
therapy could cure cancer. The Issel’s treatment is
currently considered unproven and ineffective as a
treatment for cancer. Issels believed that cancer was
caused by the weakening of the human immune system
and hence had to be cured by strengthening it
again. However, he did not dispute the importance of
conventional cancer therapies like surgery and chemotherapy,
and did in fact use them when treating his
patients. Issels did not advocate a panacea-like new
therapy, but rather prescribed various neglected, forgotten,
or non-mainstream treatments, such as the
Coley Vaccine pioneered by William Coley, hyperthermia,
where Manfred von Ardenne researched its
effectiveness in cancer.
Issels opened his Ringberg Clinic in Bavaria in 1951.
As the clinic achieved greater fame, patients from
around the world began to seek his treatment. However,
other doctors did not approve of his practice,
specifically the Bavarian Medical Council, which
charged Issels with fraud and manslaughter. After a
four-year legal battle, Issels' convictions on all
charges were overturned, and his clinic was relicensed.
Issels centers and clinics continue to treat
cancer patients around the world, with all types and
stages of cancer.
Among his illustrious patients were Jamaican reggae
legend Bob Marley and British Olympic medallist
Lillian Board, who both entered his Rottach- Egern
clinic for treatment, but both died in spite of the Issels
treatment.
A review of Issels' claims by the American Cancer
Society concluded that there was no evidence that
treatment with Issels Combination Therapy or any
related treatments were effective against cancer.”
