The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is a<br />

temporary “home away from home” for families of<br />

children who are be<strong>in</strong>g treated at nearby hospitals and<br />

healthcare facilities. The design-build team of this project<br />

wanted to break through barriers of traditional <strong>EIFS</strong> and<br />

create a state-of-the-art build<strong>in</strong>g. By us<strong>in</strong>g the design<br />

flexibility of <strong>EIFS</strong> <strong>in</strong> a variety of ways, this project has a<br />

fun and whimsical-like façade and its unique appearance<br />

is both uplift<strong>in</strong>g and pleas<strong>in</strong>g to the eye, important <strong>in</strong><br />

keep<strong>in</strong>g the spirits high of the visit<strong>in</strong>g families.<br />

Orig<strong>in</strong>ally built <strong>in</strong> 1965 us<strong>in</strong>g concrete panels over clad with baseball size<br />

granite stones embedded <strong>in</strong> cement, this project was <strong>in</strong> trouble. The stones<br />

were com<strong>in</strong>g loose and fall<strong>in</strong>g off the façade, putt<strong>in</strong>g pedestrians below at<br />

risk. The Owner’s choice was to over clad the build<strong>in</strong>g with metal panels,<br />

which proved to be too expensive. Instead, us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>EIFS</strong> and a light gauge<br />

steel grid system, was the perfect solution. The renovation, a fram<strong>in</strong>g<br />

masterpiece, was completed without <strong>in</strong>terruption of the occupied build<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The use of color makes the improved project stand out, and its new<br />

appearance is both bold and handsome. Accord<strong>in</strong>g to the <strong>EIFS</strong> applicator, it<br />

was the most dramatic transformation ever completed <strong>in</strong> the firm’s history.<br />

<strong>EIFS</strong> was an ideal choice for this residential project due to<br />

its adaptability to Passive House construction: provid<strong>in</strong>g<br />

an all-<strong>in</strong>-one approach to the build<strong>in</strong>g envelope, and<br />

s<strong>in</strong>gle po<strong>in</strong>t responsibility for all air seal<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong>sulation and<br />

exterior f<strong>in</strong>ishes. The owner’s desired massive look of<br />

the exterior walls, with crisp, deep recesses at w<strong>in</strong>dows<br />

was easily achieved with <strong>EIFS</strong>. Additionally, the design<br />

flexibility of <strong>EIFS</strong>, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g color and texture choices, and<br />

the ability to create the deep horizontal bands and sharp,<br />

clean panel divisions, was advantageous. From a build<strong>in</strong>g<br />

code standpo<strong>in</strong>t, <strong>EIFS</strong> was the cleanest approach, and from<br />

a cost perspective, choos<strong>in</strong>g <strong>EIFS</strong> was a no-bra<strong>in</strong>er. This<br />

unique and contemporary home demonstrates the power<br />

of design<strong>in</strong>g with <strong>EIFS</strong>.<br />

Station Park is a multi-use development offer<strong>in</strong>g over 100<br />

retail and specialty shopp<strong>in</strong>g dest<strong>in</strong>ations with more than 20<br />

restaurants and eateries, as well as commercial space. Phase<br />

II was highlighted by the construction of the Hyatt Place hotel<br />

and additional retail space. The project is a custom design<br />

featur<strong>in</strong>g high-end architectural f<strong>in</strong>ishes and accents to create<br />

an upscale aesthetic. The <strong>EIFS</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ishes achieved an old-world<br />

plaster f<strong>in</strong>ish without the complexities of traditional plaster<br />

mixes and applications. The design flexibility offered by <strong>EIFS</strong><br />

gave the owner an energy-efficient, beautiful build<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a highprofile,<br />

This project <strong>in</strong>volved a retrofit of an 8-build<strong>in</strong>g complex orig<strong>in</strong>ally faced<br />

with brick. In order to provide energy-efficiency, the owner decided<br />

to use <strong>EIFS</strong>. The new exterior now gives the complex a fun and fresh<br />

new look with a variety of colors. This project touts a contemporary,<br />

fashion-forward appearance, with eye-catch<strong>in</strong>g colors.<br />

River Park Apartments is a multi-family development with<br />

100+ units that utilizes some of the newest and most<br />

efficient materials <strong>in</strong> the <strong>EIFS</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustry, while preserv<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

appearance of traditional masonry elements. Handsome<br />

<strong>in</strong> its own right, the project also utilized f<strong>in</strong>ishes with mica<br />

chips and multi-colored quartz, imitat<strong>in</strong>g the look and<br />

feel of real granite. At 1/35th the weight of real granite,<br />

the <strong>EIFS</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ish provided significant sav<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> the total<br />

construction cost, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g materials shipp<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The bold vision of the owner/developer of this project made Nashville’s<br />

oldest suburb new aga<strong>in</strong>. Now home to millennials and no longer an<br />

<strong>in</strong>dustrial haven, Germantown’s emerg<strong>in</strong>g multi-family, mixed use heritage<br />

has been taken to a new level thanks to the rich architectural tapestry of<br />

the LC Germantown project. The <strong>EIFS</strong> manufacturer’s unique ability to facilitate podium<br />

construction and provide needed design flexibility played an <strong>in</strong>tegral role <strong>in</strong> the success of<br />

the four-build<strong>in</strong>g, 411 unit, 425,000 square foot mixed use multi-family development. The<br />

end result was an “<strong>in</strong>dustrial chic” project with great amenities and a complex, textured<br />

exterior to dist<strong>in</strong>guish it <strong>in</strong> the marketplace. And by us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>EIFS</strong>, the owner obta<strong>in</strong>ed the<br />

desired exterior appearance and saved $4 million on the project cost.<br />

Crescent Shores Resort is comprised of two oceanfront,<br />

18-story build<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> North Myrtle Beach, SC. The orig<strong>in</strong>al<br />

deteriorat<strong>in</strong>g stucco clad build<strong>in</strong>gs were <strong>in</strong> need of repair,<br />

and a complete over-clad us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>EIFS</strong> was the answer. Not<br />

only was there a significant cost-sav<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> re-cladd<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

structures with <strong>EIFS</strong>, but <strong>in</strong> addition, us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>EIFS</strong> provided<br />

<strong>in</strong>creased energy-efficiency for condo owners, as well as a<br />

fresh, new look with a bold style.<br />

Mary Our Queen Catholic Church is an expansive and<br />

impressive testament to the marriage of old and<br />

new. The owner wanted to create the elegant look<br />

and feel rem<strong>in</strong>iscent of other iconic, world-renowned<br />

structures of its type. <strong>EIFS</strong> became the ideal choice<br />

with its ability to provide a system with a limestone<br />

appearance. The high-performance system features<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>uous <strong>in</strong>sulation and a cont<strong>in</strong>uous air and water<br />

resistive barrier. Additionally, the f<strong>in</strong>ish is highly<br />

durable and weather-resistant, help<strong>in</strong>g the church<br />
