Age Concern Swaffham & DistrictYES, it was good to receive the handdeliveredversion of the Newsletterlast month, wasn’t it? Not everyonehas the capacity or interest to readthings off a computer screen sothat was to be welcomed although it was rather athinner version than usual. Those of us who deliverthe Newsletter no doubt appreciated the reducedweight to carry around!As was the case last month, we are still unable toarrange our usual programme of free activities inthe Assembly Rooms on the last Tuesday of eachmonth or organise any trips out. We are hoping allwill be clear by late Autumn. In the meantime ourcommittee is meeting to try and see what is thebest way forward.We are still in need of a Treasurer so anyoneinterested in helping us in this way is invited tocontact our Chair, Barbara White, on 01760 720756and email barbarawhite751@gmail. Ideally, if youare perhaps newly retired with some financial /management experience we would welcome aninquiry so we can supply more information.Our Befriending Service and Hospital Buddy Serviceis still carrying on to a limited extent but again ourvolunteers are frustrated in not being able to carryout their usual contacts with needy folk.We would very much like to welcome anyone whowould like to become a member of Age Concern.We charge £5 per year to cover our expenses butthe monthly meetings, where there might be aspeaker or entertainer are held with no chargeto members. As mentioned above, we hope toresume our programme of members’ meetingsand trips out as soon as we are “freed”. If you have enjoyed helping othersand have an hour or two to spare a week or enjoy driving,we would love to hear from you. We need caringcompassionate people like yourselves to join ourfantastic team of volunteers to help elderly people to getto medical appointments or just to stop an elderly personfrom being lonely.
