All Shook Up
Inspired by and featuring
the songs of ELVIS PRESLEY
Book by JOE DIPIETRO
It’s the summer of 1955
in a humdrum place
somewhere in the
Midwest. When a great
–lookin’, motorcyclin’,
guitar-playin’, leatherjacketed
roustabout
blows into town, he turns
the whole place upside
down. All the great tunes
of the King of Rock and
Roll tell a mythical story
of unrequited love and
blossoming relationships.
Mystical romance fills the
air, love triangles abound
and the entire populace
is all shook up - and much
better for it!
Based on “The Kensington Stories” by Sally Benson and the MGM Motion Picture
“Meet Me in St Louis”
Utter charm abounds in this lively, delightful, and truly wholesome story about
a wonderfully happy family anticipating the excitement of the 1904 World’s
Fair. With two younger sisters, two older sisters and a college age brother,
the home is filled with love and laughter, fun and games and, of course, song
and dance. A lively grandfather and an Irish maid also keep things hopping
as the household deals with young love, courtships and complications, not
the least of which is the possibility of a move away from beloved St. Louis.
Brigadoon
Music by Frederick Loewe
Book and Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner
This breathtaking classic of the
American Musical Theatre tells
the story of a Scottish hamlet that
reappears for one day every hundred
years. On the wedding day of two
townspeople a couple of Americans
stumble into Brigadoon. While a
saucy lass sets her sights on one of
them, the other finds that he and
the bride’s sister are falling in love.
Though the joyous mood is seriously
marred by the bride’s rejected suitor,
whose actions threaten the safety of
the entire village, all ends happily in
this romantic fairytale.
What appears to be an open-and-shut murder case becomes a long,
drawn out deliberation when one of the jurors begins opening the
others’ eyes to the facts. While the fate of the 19-year-old accused
hangs in the balance, the character of each and every one of the
deliberators is revealed. As tempers flare and arguments get heated,
prejudices, personal values and egocentric attitudes come to the fore.
Whether it’s men, women or a combination of both, the jury becomes
twelve angry people.
Plaza Suite
By Neil Simon
As the landmark has recently
been refurbished, what better
time to revisit this Simon comedy
composed of three acts, each
involving different characters
but all set in Suite 719 of New
York City’s Plaza Hotel? The
most serious of the vignettes
involves a not-so-blissfully
wedded couple revisiting their
honeymoon suite in an attempt
to bring the love back into
their marriage. Another story
involves a meeting between
a former movie producer and
an old flame, now a suburban
housewife. While she has
come for nothing more than
a chat between old friends,
he has other plans in mind.
The funniest of the acts, filled
with increasingly outrageous
slapstick moments, tells of a
young bride who on the day of
her wedding locks herself in the
suite’s bathroom and refuses to
come out.
