The Center for the Arts

It brings a diverse array of programs to Western Nevada County

including dance, music, theatre, film and visual art. Also offered

are events and workshops for children and teens.

A multi-million dollar renovation of its 21,000 square foot facility

in downtown Grass Valley was completed in 2020. It is now a

state-of-the-art venue with a 492-seat main theatre, intimate performing

space and a large art gallery.

The Center’s Off-Site Series uses a venue that can accommodate

998 for performances by headliners like Wynton Marsalis, Clint

St. Joseph’s Cultural Center

Dating back to 1866, this landmark is now used for

a variety of cultural activities. St. Joseph’s

includes the Grass Valley Museum, historic

rose garden, chapel and artists’ studios.

North Star House

A historic site and Cultural Arts

Center near Grass Valley, it is

used for indoor and outdoor

events which can include performances,

concerts and a speakers

Miners Foundry

Cultural Center

First used for a performing arts

venue in the 1970s, today the foundry

located in Nevada City hosts hundreds

of yearly events including craft fairs, a

variety of music events, the Readers Theater

and Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball.

Nevada Theatre

People have been enjoying entertainment in this Nevada City

building for 150 years. Currently it is home to Nevada City Live,

productions by several theatre companies and a film series.

North Columbia School House

This historic Cultural Center is located in a rural setting on the

San Juan Ridge. It provides indoor and outdoor venues for

performances, art exhibits and is well-known for the Sierra

InConcert Sierra

Nevada County’s oldest arts organization,

it was founded in 1946

and was the first to present nationally

and internationally known

musicians to local audiences. Yearly

events include a Third Sunday

Season that presents six chamber

concerts, four programs presented by

the Sierra Master Chorale and InConcert

Orchestra, and several intimate house

Music in the Mountains

Its focus is on offering world-class performances. Highlight of the

year is SummerFest, a series of events that ends on July 3rd with

a popular outdoor concert. The festival includes performances

by the Music in the Mountain Orchestra, soloists from around the

country and the MIM Chorus. Events are also scheduled
