Talanta Magazine had a chance

to chat with Henry about his art

and his experience as an artist

over the years and this is what

he had to say:

TALANTA MAGAZINE

TM : do you compare your work to any other artists ?

HM: Yes I do compare my works with other artists and this

helps me learn new ideas and how to improve my works. i do

this every week

TM : Is the artistic life lonely ?

HM: Sometimes Artistic life is lonely but it's the key to

producing the best work.

TM: What is it that you exactly do?

HM: I am an artist specialized in the area of

string art which is also known as thread and

pin art.

TM: How has your practice changed over

time?

HM: I can see that I am improving as time

goes, but there is no such a thing as self made

a lot of people contribute in one way or

another to where i am today in the field of art

and craft.

TM : what has been your biggest struggle &

challenge as an artist in Tanzania?

HM: Some of the challenge that i have faced

as an artist in Tanzania include low

availability of materials , places where you

can sell art at a valuable price are very

expensive to rent making it hard for most

artists to sell their work for what they are

worth and the Tanzanian lifestyle is somehow

challenging because most people don't really

value Artistic works

TM: What do you like about your work/creativity?

HM: I love creativity because it helps me to find ways around

obstacles since most of the time opportunities come with

roadblocks.

TM: What is your dream project ?

HM: My dream project is to create a platform that allows

more artists to earn much more from their works.

TM : professionally , what is your goal?

HM: Professionally i am Environmental Engineering in Making

but my goal is to become a full time artist as i’d like to continue

pursuing what i am doing with string art, engage in art

collecting and even own a museum .

TM : what would you tell other people who would like to get

involved in art?

HM: I would tell them to follow their passion , learn more

about it and try to perfect their craft as days move on. Art is

really interesting and it can turn from just a mere hobby and

into a stable career in a matter of time.

If you are interested in string art and you’d like to know more

about Adeco Art and their amazing work, please be sure to

visit their social media pages to show some love and support to

the amazing artists.
