Dear Friends, Alumni, Colleagues, and Guests:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the
annual University of Maryland School of Medicine
Gala. On behalf of the entire School of Medicine, I
thank you for taking time to be with us virtually
this evening. We deeply value your partnership,
support, and friendship.
The theme for this evening is The Promise of
Compassion and Innovation. Tonight, we will
honor the heroes and heroines who have worked tirelessly on the front
lines in the battle against COVID-19, forging ahead on the things we
could control, while aiming to keep our mission areas of education,
research, clinical care and community service moving forward. We are
excited to share these inspiring stories with you this evening.
Now in our third century, the University of Maryland School of
Medicine will continue to build upon our extraordinary success. Your
support and encouragement help us beyond measure to advance our
goals and pursue excellence in all that we do. Thank you for being a
