we

are indeed grateful to all our recruiters

who have shown confidence and faith

in our students over the years. The just

concluded placement season at IBS

Bangalore for the outgoing 2020 batch of

students witnessed a significant uptrend

with a rush of offers from various reputed

domestic as well as international MNCs

that visited our campus. Reflecting the

optimistic business sentiment, corporate

houses across industry verticals showed

keen interest in recruiting from our

campus and offered higher pay packages

than previous years. This is a reflection of

the positive experience that our recruiters

have had with our students from previous

batches who have made successful

careers in these organizations.

Prof. G.V. MURALIDHARA

Director | Campus Head

We believe that it is the responsibility

of the institution to provide the best

education and environment to make our

students job worthy. The focus of our

school is on maintaining high academic

rigor with adequate exposure to real

world problems and opportunities to

engage with the corporate world. In

addition, the diversity of students at IBS

Bangalore makes for a unique and healthy

environment that encourages interaction

and peer learning.

Placements at IBS Bangalore have always

been a two-way process. The reputation

of IBS Bangalore and the excellent contact

and network with companies built over

the years by the faculty members and

placement managers make the companies

look at IBS Bangalore as their preferred

source for young talent. The highly

motivated and talented group of students

at our campus have made the best use

of these opportunities and chosen these

organizations for building their careers.

This year, 113 companies participated in

the placement process, and I am happy

to inform you that a good number of

them are new companies from growing

sectors, that started their relationship

with IBS Bangalore this year. The BFSI

sector continued to lead the way in

terms of recruitments. We are also

happy to note that the average CTC

has shown an uptrend for the seventh

consecutive year.

A practice-oriented curriculum, a

conducive learning environment, the

untiring efforts of our faculty members,

constant mentoring by our alumni,

useful inputs from the placement team,

and appropriate soft-skills interventions

make our students industry ready while

they are still in college. This ensures that

our students are ready to get into their

jobs quickly and start adding value to

their organizations from day one.

We are also grateful to the industry

leaders who visit our campus from time

to time to be part of the ongoing cocurricular

and extracurricular activities.

These interactions help our students

sharpen their skills and make them

ready to contribute effectively when

they take up challenging assignments

in the industry. These industry

leaders provide unique real-life

industry insights to our students that

contribute greatly in their preparation.

With close to 54,000 alumni in all

parts of the globe occupying senior

positions and the institute consistently

achieving high rankings in B-School

surveys conducted by reputed

agencies, we at IBS are, as always,

committed to grooming future

leaders with an uncompromising

focus on relevance and rigor. With the

high level of integrity and flexibility

that the industry demands today, we

are confident that our students will

contribute well to the growth of your

organization.

Please continue to support us in our

endeavor to scale greater heights.

I am more than confident that our

mutually rewarding relationship will

continue to grow from strength to

strength with your support.

distinctive feature of

at

Prof. VENKATARAMAN J

Deputy Director - Placements

the outset, I gratefully

acknowledge the encouraging

support and continued

patronage offered by the

industry to IBS Bangalore

both in terms of recruitment

and industry immersion

programs. We at IBS

Bangalore are aware of the

dynamism that marks today’s

organizational ecosystem.

The ever growing and synergetic blend

of technology and innovation is fueling

change in both the Indian and global

business arenas. Effectively interpreting

and managing the business horizon

is therefore imperative for today’s

management professional.

At IBS Bangalore, our endeavor has been

to prepare students to be ‘industry ready’.

Besides packaging our courses with

industry-insights and relevant conceptual

frameworks, our academic process pays

special heed to nurturing the ‘can do’

outlook among our students.

The result is that the managers-inthe

making represent a desirable

mix of the right knowledge, relevant

skill, and ‘go-getter’ attitude

through a quality course curriculum,

conducive learning environment,

and soft-skills interventions. It gives

me great pleasure to introduce the

class of 2021 PGPM students to the

corporate world. I invite you for the

campus placements of our students

of the class of 2021. May this be

another significant milestone of

progress for your organization and

for us at IBS Bangalore!

Case Studies, Group Discussions, Mock Interviews, Club

Activities, Inter and Intra College Level Management Fests, two

years of continuous learning and exposure to many challenges

and situations helped me to gain much confidence, build inner

discipline, and acquire a positive attitude towards life.

At IBS, the Career Development Cell provides every facility for

one to prepare not only for interviews but also for corporate

world. I was able to reach a new level of confidence in my ability

to make a decision with limited information. Prior to business

school, I had a lot of experience with analyzing situations,

weighing the pros and cons of each option, and even making

the ultimate decision. However, IBS Bangalore took my skills to

another level and taught me how to take all of the data available,

make calculated assumptions, weigh the potential outcomes

and consequences and then execute - pivot if need be - and

live with (and learn from) the results. These decision-making

skills are very important whenever high stakes situations present

themselves in the business world, and a misstep could easily

result in multi-million dollar consequences.

As an Alumni, I am grateful to IBS

Bangalore for imparting the knowledge

that is required for me to survive in

the cut-throat corporate culture. As a

student with work experience, I had a lot

of questions about the business world

answered. The professors were extremely

knowledgeable in their domains, giving

us ample practical examples to go with

the theory. The group discussions,

business games, presentations and the

case studies gave us a wider perspective

of the corporate world and its life. The

rigorous teaching methods along with

the renowned case study methodology

gave us necessary skills required. It did

not end with classroom teaching though.

Clubs, Fests and Culturals gave us enough

opportunities to showcase our talents

and skills. Come job placements time,

the placement team worked hard to

get each and every student placed in a

company. Our placement period was

structured. We had Soft Skills classes

to fine tune our communications skills

along with our resume. We were given

enough opportunities to excel in group

discussions and personal interviews.

Regular pre-placement talks were given

to set the right expectations and to

prepare for the company interviews. The

placement team strived to get the right

companies for our students and I am

thankful to IBS Bangalore for giving me

the skills and opportunity to excel.

The two years at IBS-B were a challenge in

learning to adapt to a new place altogether

but I was able to manage it with the help of

great faculty members who nurtured me.

The continuous learning that was imparted

made me realise that there is no age limit

to learning. The placement process was the

most crucial part of the course as it was a one

continuous grind.

Opportunities do arrive at one’s doorstep

but one need to make oneself capable of

fulfilling it. Softskills played an important role

for me in landing a good offer. Hence, I would

advise everyone to work on it. If one makes

the effort, a good placement is a guarantee,

and one can definitely walk out of the

campus with a smile on their face. Overall my

experience at IBS Bangalore was a good one.

Thank you for nurturing me.

It has been over a decade since I passed out

of IBS but I can still recall the good old days

which gave me two great years of learning and

friends whom I cherish and still share great

bonds with. I started my career in 2010 with a

Leadership Training Organization and moved

on as Lead Strategic HR for PCI. After 6 years

in HR I moved to a business role leading Seller

University for Amazon India for over 5 lakh

sellers. I currently lead Growth Enablement

function for WeWork India.

At IBS I found a blend of knowledge backed

with brilliant faculties and great industry

exposure. Learning happened through case

studies, group exercises with a perfect mix

of the use of theories and exposure through

live projects and interactions with some of

the best industry professionals and alumni.

Summer internships and live projects helped

us put theories into practice and see the

magic happen with all that we learnt. I hardly

remember a time when we were not busy as we

had a bunch of co-curricular and extracurricular

activities throughout the year. The intra and

inter college fest helped us get closer to reality

once we stepped in to our corporate journey.

The campus was our second home - working,

learning, preparing, completing assignments,

eating together, having fun - all became a part

of our life and there was never a dull moment

when we were at the campus. Our batch was

one of the largest with 500+ students from

different walks of life from across the country

which also provided us exposure to people

from different cultures, different cities and

helped us build amazing relationships and a

great network which still holds strong across

industries worldwide today.

I completed my PGPM from ICFAI Business

School - Bangalore which is one of the most

prestigious B-Schools in India and ranks among

the finest in case study publications. The

program structure at IBS-B educates students

on real-world challenges with the inhouse case

studies and addressing those challenges within

the classroom make the sessions very interactive

and help one formulate ideas on how to handle

these situations effectively.

At IBS-B, one has the freedom to select courses

depending on one’s interest. The institution has

nearly 20 clubs for students to be a part of based

on their interests, and to conduct activities by

sharing knowledge with each other. My first

event at the college was PARICHEY in which

ice breaking challenges between students were

held. It was followed by MANTHAN which was

conducted over two days, and which helped me

assess myself and determine my capabilities,

my strengths and areas that I need to improve

on.

Close to 110+ companies visited the institute

to hire IBS-B talent. The IBS-B placement

team provided PACT sessions for the purpose

of personality development and to prepare

students to live up to the expectations of

the corporate world. These sessions were

of immense help in enabling me to develop

my strengths and to confidently handle the

entire placement process. My advice to future

applicants would be to engage productively

with the IBS-B alumnus as much as possible,

to be on campus, speak with the staff, connect

with the alumni group, utilize social media to

grow and to be prepared to have a reason for

“Why IBS”.

IBS Bangalore is much beyond just an “institution”.

It actually denotes a “culture” - that of excellence,

empowerment and enrichment. College life

is an important phase in a student’s academic

journey after the numerous formative years

of schooling, so while undergoing the PGPM

Program, I cherished the feeling of studying at an

institute which focused on career enhancement

along with overall skill development - a seamless

mix of academics and extracurricular activities. I

will always be grateful to ICFAI Business School

for giving me multidimensional learning i.e.

industry exposure, attitude and leadership. From

walking in as fresher and walking out as an skilled

individual with a job in hand is probably the best

transformation one can go through. I’m glad to be

a part of the IBS Family.

My journey in IBS B cannot be expressed in a few

words. It is one of those colleges that gives you an

infinite number of opportunities to develop your

skills and to prove yourself. The faculty members

are masters of their respective subjects, having

worked in big companies and MNCs, and so are

able to tell us what we are actually going to be

doing after PGPM. The placement cell of the

college assists us right from the day that we enter

the college to internships and till placements to

become ready to face the upcoming challenges

in industry. It is an institution where you not only

solve case studies in simulated live environment

but also interact with top corporates to learn from

their experiences. All reputed Indian and global

firms participate in the process. I still cherish the

golden days when I was on the learning curve, the

lessons of which I am utilizing in my professional

as well as personal life nowadays.

When I joined IBS class of 2013, little did I

know that it would change my personality

and perspective in such instrumental ways.

Of course I joined IBS with the expectation

of a good managerial education, but I

received far more than that. From a happygo-lucky

yet ardent student of commerce,

I became a person who sought learning

and growth everywhere. IBS polished my

persona, rendered me a vision for a lifetime

and the enthusiasm to attain it. The people

I met here, the curriculum and the activities

that we engaged in as students, ensured

that I gained a holistic approach towards

everything I did and would do. My skills at

time management and the perspective to

approach people, changed in fundamental

ways. The expertise of the professors,

the informative guest lectures, the

exposure provided by various multi-faceted

extracurricular activities including but not

limited to management fairs, all cumulatively

made my study years at IBS worth every penny.

One big takeaway from IBS is the alumni

network you are granted and the friendships

you forge. On that accord, I believe the

amiable environment of the college cemented

my friendships with my classmates which

have proved to be my primary support in my

after college years. Lastly, yet not the least, the

city of Bangalore, where IBS is so fortunately

located, has given me endless joy; it indeed

is one of the best cities to live in as a student

of a management course, the sheer variety

of people and activities happening in the city

at any time open up one’s mind to various

possibilities for the future.

My journey with IBS is a sweet memory

in my life. In fact, I can put it as pre and

post-IBS life. It has transformed me from

a shy, introvert and novice in banking &

finance into a confident industry ready

financial professional and a leader.

It is a great place that provides the

required arsenal and coaching to chase

and achieve your goals. The teaching

fraternity is the greatest asset that IBS

has. They create warmth and are always

approachable. Further, the extracurricular

activities helped me to sharpen my

leadership skills, which made a significant

difference to my career so far. IBS has

offered me a right blend of theory and

practical knowledge along with right soft

skills that are essential to be successful

in the industry. The case study teaching

methodology is what makes IBS unique

and successful. The depth and breadth of

these case studies greatly motivated me

to push my boundaries and learn more.

The basket of seminars, workshops,

and the institution’s regular interaction

with the industry are some of the great

initiatives that enhance a student’s

learning experience and exposure, which

ultimately makes the student industry

ready and relevant to the present. Thanks

is a small word to express my gratitude.

I am grateful to IBS for creating the right

impact on my life and providing me such

a great learning experience.

The two years at IBS were just not only about landing a job,

but more of developing skills and acquiring knowledge than

studying, and most importantly, broadening my perspective on

problems and life at large. And all the credit goes to the faculty

and curriculum of IBS. The curriculum is designed in such a

way that it involves not only increasing knowledge but honing

soft skills, which help you to progress in your career. My faculty

pushed me to be the better version of myself, they provided with

all possible opportunities and exposure to learn and they kept

finding new ways to make us acquire knowledge. This attitude of

the faculty has stayed with me and helped me in reaching where

I am today in my life. It has been 4 years for me in the corporate

world and all the learning I imbibed at IBS help me every day.

I will forever be thankful to faculty and everyone at IBS for

AVG CTC OF THE LAST FIVE YEARS IN LAKH PER ANNUM

The placement season for the Class of 2020 witnessed

an array of recruiters from across the sectors. We had

113 companies participating at various stages of the

placement process and were able to get 444 job offers to

our eligible students at IBS Bangalore. Once again Banking

and Financial Services sector remained dominant during

the placement season by offering the highest number

of jobs across domains. Put together they contributed to

about 53% of the total job offers made.

Year on Year, there is a steady and continuous

increase in the average CTC offered by our

recruiters at IBS Bangalore. This year the average

CTC stood at 6.27LPA compared to 5.94 LPA last

year.

This cycle also saw a spur in the demand for jobs

in the Audit & Advisory roles with companies like

Deloitte, KPMG and PWC making some impactful

and meaningful contribution to the placement

process.

Our regular recruiters like ICICI Bank, HDFC

Bank, Kotak Bank, TCS, HCL Technologies, ICICI

Prudential, GoMMT, Oracle, Federal Bank also

reaffirmed their faith in our students by offering

a plethora of new roles in their esteemed

organisations.

In addition to the regular recruiters, there was also a

significant contribution from the IT/ITES , Ecommerce

and Insurance industry adding up to 22% of the offers.

The other key highlight of this year’s placement season

was the interest shown by Edu-Tech and App based

companies. These were mostly start-ups offering a wide

range of roles and lucrative pay structures. Byju’s, Toppr,

Extramarks, MyGate, NoBroker etc. to name a few.

What was also encouraging was to notice the positive

trend shown by New and first time recruiters in reaching

out to us for their Management Trainee requirements.

A few of the other sectors which hired from our campus

were Hospitality & Travel, Pharma & Healthcare, Market

Research, Logistics & Manufacturing.

Our experience of campus placements has

been wonderful; good bunch of students. A safe

professional and friendly environment. What

I like about IBS is its spacious classrooms and

very good infrastructure.

SACHI ARABHAVI

HR Manager, HungerBox

We have started our Association with IBS

Bangalore just an year ago and we are

impressed with the Students and Training &

Placement department which very proactive

and supportive to our requirements. We have

found good talents from IBS and it took no time

to groom them further with requisite skill sets

and perform better in corporate world. We look

forward to have a long term association.

VIGNESH DHARMARAJ

Talent Acquisition Lead, Enquero Global (India)

Horizontal Talent and Horizontal Digital are

committed to partnering with the local colleges

including IBS to provide valuable career

opportunities. Our internship and Fresher

Programs are an important aspect of our overall

talent acquisition strategy. The programs create

meaningful learning opportunities for both the

students and the Horizontal staff. Our experience

working with the IBS team has been positive and

engaging. We found the students to be highly

engaged and eager to explore opportunities. The

onsite campus recruitment activities were well

organized and productive. We hope to continue to

work with IBS in the future as we grow the teams in

each of our locations.
