Nelson Museum of the West & Manitou Galleries - Season Sponsor

Palace Jewelers can be found at our downtown location on W. Palace Ave. and

Robert L. “Bob” Nelson, founder of the Nelson Museum of the West, is a Wyoming native. Born in Cheyenne

features contemporary and “trade” Indian silver, turquoise, inlay and custom jewelry

and fine jewelry, including diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and pearls.

in 1941, Mr. Nelson has been, and continues to be, an avid collector of all things Western. His maternal grandparents

were homesteaders near Newcastle, Wyoming and from this humble beginning, a Western icon was born. Featured

Bob & Charla Nelson, The Nelson Museum of the West and Manitou Galleries

in numerous articles, including having been named as a “Legend of the West” in the acclaimed “Persimmon Hill”

are proud to be Season Sponsors for the Cheyenne All-City Children’s Chorus!

publication, Mr. Nelson has built a collection to honorably and accurately “Preserve The Past For The Future”.

The dream of The Nelson Museum was born on the plains of Africa, the outback of Australia, the bleakness

of Siberia and the rugged mountains of Spain and is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the world’s

wildlife and the Old West. Taxidermy displays of wildlife from every continent, a world-class Military exhibit from

the Civil War to WW II, fine Western art, a 3,500+ volume library, Cowboy and Native American collectibles, outlaw/

lawmen history and special exhibits of Sheriff George Carroll’s “office” and artist Burt Proctor’s studio are highlights.

The Museum, opened in 1998, has since earned a “gem attraction” rating with AAA Travel. www.nelsonmuseum.

com and www.militarymemorialmuseum.org

Manitou Galleries was established in 1975 in downtown Cheyenne as a sideline to Bob’s successful law

practice. The gallery has now expanded to three locations, one in Cheyenne and two in Santa Fe, NM, which also now

both include jewelry stores- “Palace Jewelers at Manitou”. www.manitougalleries.com

Manitou Galleries features fine art and sculpture and is also home for the production of two major auctions,

held annually in March and August. www.marchinmontana.com and www.auctioninsantafe.com

Bob and his wife, Charla, have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. They dedicate their time and passion to their

2 families, the fine arts and their businesses.

ACCC History

All-City Children’s Chorus has been a part of Cheyenne’s music community for forty-three seasons. Begun under

the auspices of the Laramie County School District #1 Music Department and the leadership of then Elementary

Music Coordinator, Mary Jo Morandin, All-City Children’s Chorus (ACCC) has seen almost two thousand

children develop their musical talents and artistry while sharing their musical gifts with audiences around the

country.

Vincent Mingils

Artistic Director

Debbie Mathews

Associate Director

Currently under the tutelage of Artistic Director Vincent Mingils, Executive Director Mary Ann Fritz, Associate

Director Debbie Mathews, the ACCC tradition of beautiful choral tone, musical artistry and dedication to the

choral art continues.

ACCC has received numerous accolades and awards through its forty-three seasons. The Chorus has performed

at national and regional music conventions (NAfME, AOSA, ACDA) participated in multiple choral festivals

bringing home top honors consistently. The choir has performed for President Ronald Reagan, Vice-President

Dick Cheney and performed for special occasions, including Wyoming gubernatorial inaugurations, lighting of

the US Capitol Christmas Tree, and 9-11 Remembrances. ACCC is extremely proud of being named a Wyoming

Governor’s Arts Award winner in 2004.

Alaina Niemann

Concert Choir Accompanist

Welcome to our season of “Portraits”!

It is a great honor to join the All-City Children’s Chorus this year as Artistic Director! The ACCC is truly a special organization,

showing what results when you combine the efforts of a highly qualified musical staff, dedicated and supportive parents, and talented

young musicians who commit themselves to performing choral music at the highest possible level. Our theme for the 2019-2020

season, Portraits, will take you to familiar and unfamiliar places, moods, and perceptions via a variety of musical settings. How many

times have you found yourself being transported in time because of a song you heard on the radio? How many times have you found

yourself suddenly emotional upon hearing a piece of music, perhaps music that you haven’t heard before?

Research shows that the study of music helps students develop language and reasoning skills. Music also helps young minds build

imagination, intellectual curiosity, and critical thinking skills that will stay with them all their lives. Being in a musical ensemble

teaches group participation, leadership, perseverance, self-motivation, and self-discipline, which will help students be successful in

their future endeavours. In the spirit of all these values, together in this hall we will be united by music, the universal language which

transcends ideologies, differences, and all that may divide us.

I am thrilled to share the leadership of this organization with an outstanding staff and our parent board. We are grateful for the

financial support from all the businesses and individuals that help us with operating expenses. Every donation is an investment in the

education and future of our students. I am also grateful to you for being such an appreciative audience member and encouraging us as

we share our music! Thank you for joining us at today’s concert and for your continued support of the All-City Children’s Chorus.

Warmly,

Vincent Minglis, ACCC Artistic Director
