Junior & Preparatory School

St. Conleth’s Junior and Preparatory School

welcomes boys and girls from ages four to

twelve (Junior Infants to Sixth Class). With

an average class size of less than twenty,

personal attention to each pupil is assured

and a more inclusive and holistic approach

to education is emphasised.

The younger Conlethians benefit from sharing in all the social,

educational and recreational aspects of the larger school,

from ICT to sports hall to performance space to canteen, yet

they also have the sense of belonging and security which

having their own purpose-built facility provides.

Each pupil follows the standard Primary School Curriculum as

set by the Department of Education and Science, preparing

them for entrance into secondary school. This core curriculum

is augmented by tuition in subjects such as French, Music,

Speech and Drama, Art and Information Technology. Religious

Education follows the prescribed Catholic programme, and

willing candidates are prepared for First Holy Communion and

Confirmation, but children of all faiths, and none, are welcomed

and seamlessly integrated into the school community.

All our Juniors have the option of enrolling in our flexible

Early-Morning and After-School Programmes, where the

children’s physical and intellectual appetites are catered to

with a mixed diet of homework, snacks, games and sport.

Senior School

St. Conleth's 260 students are nurtured by

over 20 full-time teachers. This low pupilteacher

ratio allows for smaller classes and

wider subject choice.

Pupils who continue on from our Junior School are joined in

First Year by as many newcomers. St. Conleth’s is fully

co-educational and our campus, classes and extra-curriculars

are all designed to cater to both girls and boys.

The Junior Cycle (1st - 3rd Year) and The Senior Cycle (4th - 6th

Year) are offered in accordance with the Department of

Education and Science. We offer a wide array of academic

subjects, providing the choice of a larger school in the

advantageous environs of a smaller academy.

Transition Year (TY) at St. Conleth's is a mandatory growing

space and time for our boys and girls en route to being young

adults. The TY Programme encompasses all areas of personal

development, from the charitable through the athletic to the

cultural. A dedicated TY co-ordinator organises a team of

teachers and professionals who lead the students through a

demanding but exhilarating curriculum of subject-specific

project work, real life and work experiences and the

individually tailored Gaisce programme. A typical TY day

involves learning coding and cooking in the morning, sailing

and photography in the afternoon, and rehearsal for the

year-ending musical at day’s end.
