A by-word for excellence in schools debating, “St. Conleth's”

consistently achieves Leinster, national and international

prominence (in English, French and Irish) and is a main feeder

of the debating societies at universities, here and abroad.

Chess satisfies the quieter yet still keen competitive instincts

of our pupils as they play at the lunchtime club and on

inter-school teams and the after-school Coding Club sharpens

the students’ ICT skills and creativity. One of the most

impressive aspects of our development has been in music,

where our Performance Space is always alive with the sounds

of our School Choir and the more freeform adventures of

various student individuals and bands as they prepare for our

many assemblies and the Annual School Concert.

In the Junior School, Both the teaching staff and the Parents’

Association spend much effort and time organising various

out-of-class activities. Chess, Coding, Science, Math and Art

Clubs meet every week and various competitions and

tournaments are entered throughout the year. Piano and

guitar lessons are offered after-school. All the boys and girls

take part in the Christmas and end-of-year theatrical

productions. Confident and competent participation is always

the priority, and not a month goes by without a visit to, or a

visit by, some educational or recreational resource.

At St. Conleth’s, Physical Education is not just the prescribed

domain of the few, it is enjoyed and practised by all the

students across a spectrum of mandatory classes and in

optional, but strongly encouraged, competitive sports. In

addition to the varied and ambitious PE curriculum for all

years, St. Conleth’s competes and wins in Rugby, Hockey,

Basketball, Tennis and Athletics, often at the regional and

national levels, and there is a plethora of other sports, both in

time-tabled classes and after school. Fencing, in particular, is

a time-honoured tradition at the school. The dedicated Sports

Hall and All-Weather Pitch at Herbert Park help make sport at

St. Conleth’s both fun and accessible and the Annual Sports

Day is always the fitting culmination of a year of enthusiastic

physical education.
