Greetings from the Waikato Tractors team,
2020 has been another year of growth for Waikato
Tractors, with our Ōtorohanga depot gaining significant
traction in service and sales in the King Country area.
Our Ag and Civil Direct importing division has become
a huge success with particular growth in sales of the
British made Shelbourne Reynolds range of muck
spreaders, hedge cutters & mixer wagons.
Whilst Covid-19 presented a challenge for all of us,
we are proud of the fact that our consistent and
dependable reputation carried us through, and our
workshops are as busy as ever. We were fortunate to
see little or no staff turnover this year (in fact, numbers
increased slightly), and appreciate that exceptional
customer loyalty has enabled us to achieve this.
We have an exciting season ahead of us, with new
tractor models and major developments coming from
Massey Ferguson, Fendt, and Valtra. It is also great
to see constant updates and improvements from local
manufacturers such as SAM and Allen Custom Drills.

Parts Support: experience where it counts
With over 100 years combined parts experience the
Parts Team at Waikato Tractors really know their tractor
and machinery parts. This well-established team look
beyond the obvious and understand the importance of
keeping their customers moving. “If it’s important to our
customers then it’s important to us,” says Parts Manager
Matt Haycock. “We have a team that is passionate about
tractors but equally as passionate about the parts.”
Each member of the six strong team offers something
special to the mix. Matthew spent 10 years driving tractors
before shifting to parts 5 years ago. He is our specialist
Ag & Civil parts guru and understands what it’s like to be
a customer and a supplier. Aaron spent 4 years working
for Lely before joining the crew and is our dedicated Lely
and AGCO Green Harvest expert. Tony is the aftermarket
Ag product whiz with 12 years’ experience finding the right
alternative solution to suit the customer’s needs. BJ has a
staggering 50 years’ experience in parts, and the newest
member to the Waikato Tractors parts team is Luke; Luke
has been working with parts for over 10 years in the Auto
electrical, motorcycle & heavy transport industries.
This tight knit team is led by Parts Manager Matt Haycock.
Matt has been with Waikato Tractors coming up 15 years
and knows the AGCO product line intimately.
Matt said, “There isn’t much the guys don’t know when
it comes to the parts we carry but we are also fortunate
enough to be surrounded by others in the business with a
wealth of knowledge we can also tap into, if we don’t have
the answer we will find it for you.”
The Waikato Tractors parts department carries the
largest stock holding of AGCO parts in the country. While
they encourage and support regular maintenance they
recognize breakdowns are a part of any agricultural
& farming business so it’s important to know their
dedicated parts team are ready at the end of the phone,
with 24hr support to help you get the right part out
to you as efficiently as possible. Their can-do attitude
ensures you receive a pleasant and knowledgeable parts
service experience.

Ōtorohanga Depot:
Progress in Progress Drive
As part of the Waikato Tractors ongoing commitment in
the King Country our Progress Drive depot in Ōtorohanga
has been fully operational for the last 18 months. “We
are seeing significant growth in spare parts, service and
sales as clients are making use of our local support
services” say Sales Manager, Ben Peters.
David Williams leads the team in Ōtorohanga and is
responsible for sales along with support from Hamilton
based sales rep Neil Lawrence. Simon Joyce and Barry
Staples in the store and workshop are supported by
a number of locally based technicians working out in
the field. David commented “with continued increases
in demand for parts we have increased our stock
levels to continue to support this thriving community”.
Ōtorohanga not only carry AGCO parts, but also a range
for items for all brands of tractors and machinery.
Our Ōtorohanga yard boasts a good range of used
tractors and machinery in stock, along with the large
used inventory in Hamilton. “We have a machine to
cover every job” says David. The team can certainly help

Reymer Ag:
working with Waikato Tractors since ages ago
With an impressive fleet of bright red Massey
Ferguson tractors, it’s fair to say the Reymer family
has a bit of a love affair when it comes to the “big red
tractors”. Reymer Ag is a proudly owned and operated
third-generation family business located in the heart
of Pirongia.
Established in the 1960s by the late John Reymer, John
provided farming and haymaking services to the local
farmers, along with running his 100 head Friesian dairy
herd. He owned the first MF148 tractor in the district
(which has now been proudly restored by his son Bill)
and the first MF124 baler in NZ. Wanting to continually
innovate his business and seeing a niche in the market,
he later took delivery of the first loader wagon into NZ
which made him a pioneer in the contracting industry.
John along with his sons made over 100,000 bales in
their first three seasons of business.
In the 1970s John’s son Bill took over the business
and evolved Reymer Agriculture from conventional hay
to round baled silage and introduced services such
as direct drilling to the business. Like his father, Bill is
a true Massey Man and proudly reminisced over his
and his Dad’s old tractors. Bill owned a 3090 one of
the first 3000 series Massey Ferguson tractors in NZ,
establishing Reymer Ag’s reputation of having the best
equipment available which continues today.
REYMER AG
The Reymer relationship with Waikato Tractors began
in the 1980’s. The first round baler was pulled with an
MF 698, and every tractor since then with the exception
of a few used purchases, has been from Waikato
Tractors. Bill claims that the family have owned a
model from every range of Massey ever built. Notable
models are the only reverse steer 3655 in NZ, an 8160
being converted to reverse steer in the WTL workshop,
and a 6290 bought in the early 2000’s is still in service
in the family dairy farm at 18,000 hours!
Today, Reymer Ag is run and managed by Bill’s sons
Mike & Chris. Together the boys have continued to
grow the business taking it from strength to strength,
expanding operations to encompass the full range of
services from spraying out to harvest. Working in an
approximately 40km radius from their Pirongia base,
their modern well-maintained fleet includes seven
Massey Ferguson & four Fendt tractors.
Waikato Tractors play an important part in making
sure the fleet keeps its wheels turning, especially
during the peak of the season. Mike commented,
“The parts backup we get from Waikato Tractors is
awesome, it’s nothing for us to call to Matt (Haycock,
Parts Manager) after hours in desperate need of
parts or chat with Gary (Good, Product and Service
Manager) directly trying to nut out a mechanical
problem, nothing is too much trouble and the guys
are happy to go above and beyond.”
When asked what they loved most about the Massey
Tractors after all these years, Chris commented,
“it’s the consistency across the brand; it doesn’t
matter which machine you jump onto whether it’s

a 10-year-old machine or a 1-year-old machine the
basic fundamentals are all the same.’ ‘When you are
running such a large fleet and averaging 1000 hours
per machine per season reliability is important.
We have plenty of ongoing maintenance and the
odd breakdown but, it’s great knowing the Waikato
Tractors guys are at the end of the phone when we
need them with expert knowledge and exceptional
parts support.”
Looking to the future, Reymer Ag have recently added
a new Massey Ferguson RB4160 round baler to their
machinery fleet and will continue to maintain the
strong foothold they have in the region with their fleet
of iconic red tractors.
