New housing units for elderly<br />

An agreement between the<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong> District Council<br />

and <strong>Ashburton</strong> Housing and<br />

Support Trustwill deliver up<br />

to 17 new housing units for the<br />

district's elderly residents.<br />

Council has agreed to lease<br />

land it owns on thecorner of<br />

DobsonStreet, Cass Street and<br />

Mona Square in <strong>Ashburton</strong> for<br />

anominal rent to the housing<br />

trust. The lease willallow the<br />

trust to demolish eight<br />

existing, but deteriorating<br />

elderly person housing units<br />

and build new ones.<br />

8-seater chairlift for Mt Hutt<br />

Mt Hutt skifield is getting New<br />

Zealand’s first8­seater chairlift –the<br />

Nor’west Express.<br />

The new chairlift will replace the<br />

current quad chair and work will start<br />

oninstalling it in late October. It is<br />

expectedtobeopenforthe start of the<br />

nextski season.<br />

only move around1500 people an hour<br />

on agoodday, so we’re excited thatour<br />

guests will be able to enjoy more time<br />

on the slopeswith thisnew addition.<br />

the mountain as the Quad and provide<br />
