Uniform and Basic School EquipmentUniform and Basic School EquipmentThe wearing of school uniform plays an important part inthe school’s Discipline Policy. We believe that this promotesgood behaviour and proper regard for authority amongstpupils. It also discourages competition which can beparticularly upsetting for some pupils as well as expensivefor parents. School uniform must be worn at all times.Uniforml Black v-neck jumper with the school logo.l Formal white shirt with collar(to be tucked inside trousers/skirt).l Black with red stripe clip on tie. Students arerequired to wear the school tie all day.l Plain black full length school trousers – tailored/straight/slim/skinny (Not allowed: non-black zips, buttons on theoutside, jeans, tracksuit bottoms, leggings or trousers thatappear to look like leggings and have no pockets or zips/fly).l A black tailored skirt is optional for girls but shouldbe no shorter than just above the knee.l Black single colour flat leather/leathertype shoes. No canvas or trainers.l Plain black socks.l Hair colour must be of a natural shade and not cutin an extreme fashion (e.g. shaved, tramlines).l Students are not permitted to wear capsor fashion hats on the school site.l Make-up is discouraged. If worn it shouldbe minimal and natural looking.Page 8l Only clear nail varnish is acceptable. No false nails.l No false eyelashes or drawn-on eyebrows, heavy orextended eyeliner, contouring, heavy eye-shadow or lipstick.l Jewellery: For health and safety students are asked notto wear jewellery, apart from watches and earrings.Students are only permitted to wear stud earrings,with a maximum of one earring per ear. Hoops, bars,expanders, or other forms of earring are not permitted.Other facial piercings are also not permitted.PEl Suitable trainers.l Football boots.l White polo shirt with collar with school logo.l Black and red school outdoor shirt(reversible) with school logo.l Black and red hoodie with school logo - optional.l Black shorts with PGS shield. Girls arenot permitted to wear leggings.l Long black socks.l Black tracksuit - optional.l A clearly labelled towel.CoatsStudents should wear outdoor coats which are appropriatefor the weather conditions when walking to and from school.Students should not wear “hoodie” type tops or leatheror denim coats/jackets. Coats should not be worn in theschool building and should be stored in lockers or bags.TrainersTrainers should not be worn except in supervised PE lessonswhen it should be appropriate trainers only. For medicalemergencies where advice is given against wearing school shoes,black trainers may be worn for the period of time indicated bythe doctor. The relevant Year Leader will need to see a note orletter from a medical practitioner on the day or in advance.Basic equipmentBeing fully equipped for school is a key part of the ‘Home-School Agreement’. Students should expect to be sanctionedif they do not carry the correct equipment for school.All students should ensure that they have thefollowing basic equipment for use in all lessons:l Student planner (provided bythe school). Students shouldbring their planner to schoolwith them every day.l Pen and a spare (black or blue).l Red pen for ‘reflection work’.l Set of coloured pencils.l Pencil.l Rubber.l 15cm or 30cm ruler.l Pencil sharpener.l Protractor.l A pair of compass.l Scientific calculator.l Glue stick.l Dry-wipe pen.l A suitable bag to carryequipment, books and PE kit.The bag should be big enoughto hold an A4 file (e.g. a rucksack).l Year 7 & 8 students to havea French dictionary.Equipment will be available to buy every morning before school, atbreak and at lunch time and checked every day by the form tutor.
