Oblique section through the fetal abdomen at the

level of hernial canal and lower fetal thorax, with a

section of fetal heart. The hernial canal appears

much smaller than the hernial sac, with echogenic

structures. Transabdominal chorionic villous sampling

(TA-CVS) showed a normal karyotype. There

were no other anomalies.

The transducer has been tilted caudally to obtain an

oblique view of the umbilical vessels next to the fetal

urinary bladder. Spontaneous abortion occurred at

16 weeks. “Isolated hepatic tissue” was found in the

omphalocele.
