Message from the Potentate

Greetings Nobles and Ladies,

We are in the last quarter of 2020 and we are still trying to maintain our momentum under the current

Covid-19 issues. As this will be my last Noble News article I want to take this time to thank you all for your

support and continued communications on issues within your Shriner organization.

As of this message we are still under the Governor Ivey Safer at Home process and it has us wearing masks

and doing social distancing statewide under conditions that could expose us all to the virus. We just want to

cooperate and graduate so keep doing it please. Stand by for updates from her office and Shriners

We have resumed bingo at Montgomery as well as the Phenix City and Wiregrass clubs and our facility

rentals as of 1 June. We will still be limited to 50% occupancy of our facilities for the time being. At present

our bingo and rental numbers are off but we are trying to hold on until this passes.

The rest of the year will go by pretty quick but we still need to stay focused and do the business of our

temple and Shriners International. We have a quarterly meeting on 9 October where we will be taking care of lots of business to include voting

on more new candidates, approving our updated Temple By-laws as well as working on several financially related issues to complete this year.

Please attend and help.

The next day on 10 October we will have our annual Sportsman’s Gun Giveaway and hope to bring that process in way ahead of previous years

so please sell or buy all the tickets you have or turn them in.

We will have our 2020 SHC Golf Tournament on 28 October in Prattville at the Robert Trent Jones facility. Get your teams and sponsorships in

to us now so we can beat last year’s attendance.

The River Region Shrine Club will be sponsoring a Halloween Party at the Alcazar Shrine Center on Saturday, 31 October and its free to nobles

and their ladies and their guests. We just need you to RSVP to the POC on the flyer in this edition so we can plan the food and beverages.

November will have us with another Gun Show at the Shrine Center on 7-8 November and we will have our Fall Ceremonial on 14 November

at the Alcazar Shrine Center as well. New candidates/their ladies and those that have not attended a ceremonial in the last few years are

welcome and encouraged to attend. It will be very informative and educational for us all. Contact the Recorders office for the event information.

December will include the Annual Temple elections on Friday, 11 December at our quarterly meeting. Come out and help elect your 2021

Divan and officers that night. The next day, 12 December, we will have the Christmas Party/Annual Awards Ceremony recognizing our award

winners as well as many Nobles with 25 or 50 years of Shrine duty that night. Watch your mail boxes for our mail

out identifying how you need to RSVP for that event if you qualify for either.

It has been an honor for Lady Ruth and I to serve you this year as the First Lady and Potentate for Alcazar.

Yours in the faith,

Bill Forshey, Jr.

Message from the First Lady

Hello Ladies!

I want to thank you ladies for all your support during this year. I am so honored to have met and worked with such

talented and supportive folks like you.

We would appreciate any help you ladies can provide for the following events:

Oct 9, Quarterly meeting: Snacks. We will have an activity for the ladies while the men meet. Plus you can purchase

tickets to win one (or both if you desire) of the Alabama or Auburn baskets. The final score (funds raised for each)

will be announced during the gun giveaway. Support your team!

Oct 10, Gun Giveaway: Serving lunch from 11:00 to 1:00. Then providing heavy hors d’oeuvres at the Red Fez for

those folks who purchased sponsor packages.

Oct 28, Golf Tournament: Encouraging folks to bid on the silent auction items,

Oct 31, Halloween Party! Get your party costume on! I challenge you ladies to be there because another temple is looking forward to

attending. We should have more Alcazar folks there than visitors!

Message from the Chief Rabban

Just One Membership Program: We still need to work on membership. The Just One Program is working, and we

have initiated several new Shriners this year. The year is not over. and we are calling on the Nobility to help make

this a banner year. We are asking each Shriner to be a top-line signer on at least one petition for membership in

this great fraternity. Will you help!

Alcazar Annual Sportsmen Gun Give Away: Please do all you can and help us sell the gun tickets and sponsorship

packs. It is one of our largest fund raisers and we need to make it a success. Anyone needing more tickets to buy or

sell can pick them up from the Alcazar Recorder, Illustrious Sir Lee Sims. Please help us in the monumental effort.

Also, every person with a ticket will receive a free lunch on October 10, 2020, starting at 11:00 am. Noble David

Russell, our Grill Master will be smoking Boston Butts for this event. This will be limited to the first 70 folks that

want to purchase a Boston Butt. Cost $25.00 each if you pre order and pay -- $30.00 each on the day of the sale.

You can arrange to pre order and pay by calling Dave Russell at 334-354-6176. Call now and save $5.00. They will be served hot right out of the

Largest Peanut Boil in the World: Illustrious Sir Andy Compton and the members of the Crenshaw County Shrine Clubs, along with dozens of

volunteers made this year’s Peanut Boil a large success again. This was an amazing accomplishment, since they had to implement COVID-19

protocols. The wearing of masks, and social distancing did not stop the effort this year. Thanks to everyone who help make this year’s Peanut

Boil a great success. I personally, enjoyed spending time with the folks at the Crenshaw County Shrine Club and only hope to be invited back

next year. I congratulate you all for a job well done!

Do not forget the River Region Shrine Club will be hosting a FREE Halloween Party on October 31, at the Alcazar Temple, starting at 6:00 pm,

for the Nobility and guests. Please mark your calendar and come be with us as we share and evening of fun and fellowship, with friends and

Since this is now a quarterly newsletter, Lady Karen and I would like to congratulate Illustrious Sir Bill Forshey and First Lady Ruth for a job well

done during a challenging year. Additionally, we wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas to wrap up the 2021 Shrine

As always, support your blue lodge and may God be with you and bless you.

Message from the Assistant Rabban

Greeting Nobles and Ladies,

Shelia and I hope that you and your families are doing well and are safe from this horrific virus. Covid-19 has

taken a toll on many families, businesses and the Shrine. We have lost more than 80% of our rental income, which

provides a large amount of our yearly budget. The effects it has had on bingo has been dramatic, also. Attendance

is down more than 60% and is not improving much. I pray this will soon end and maybe we can return to normal

before long.

We also want to thank the Phenix City and Wiregrass Shrine Clubs for all their hard work in starting their Bingo

programs back up.

On a positive note, the Crenshaw County Peanut boil was a huge success. Those folks have a community of

friends, volunteers and Shriners that work together for such a phenomenal cause. People come from near and far

just to get these peanuts. This Shrine Club has the process down to a science and everyone works in tandem. This year they cooked more than

36 tons and still ran out by Sunday at noon. If you have never seen this process or tasted these nuts, please try to come next year. I promise you

won’t be disappointed. Thanks to everyone that helped make this a success.

Just a reminder, Alcazar is hosting their annual Sportsman’s Gun Give Away on Saturday, October 10 th . We really need your help this year more

than ever. I’m asking each of you to buy at least one book or better yet, sell some tickets to your friends, family or anyone you come in contact.

They don’t have to be present to win. It is imperative that this fund raiser is a success, so be selling tickets!

Another fundraiser is the Annual Golf Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, October 28 th at the Robert Trent Golf course in

Prattville. All of these funds go to the hospital/transportation fund, which all of you know, is why we even exist. If you know anyone that plays

golf, please tell them about this day. We need more teams. We will provide a meal and we have beverages that are free! Remember, this

fundraiser is 100% tax deductible.

River Region Shrine Club will be hosting a Halloween Party on Saturday October 31 beginning at 6:00 pm in the Alcazar Temple Oasis (main

building) or Red Fez Club depending on the number of people that respond to the RSVP. We will provide the meat and entertainment. We ask

for you to bring your favorite side dish and the best part is it will be absolutely FREE! We just want everyone to have a good time and enjoy

themselves. Please join in the fun!

Everyone please remember to come to our Alcazar Gun Show which will be on Nov. 7, 2020. We need as many Nobles to help as possible.

Come and support your Temple.

We will have a ceremonial at the temple on Nov. 14, 2020. We need everyone to show up and support these new Nobles. Details to follow!

Don’t forget the temple elections on Friday, December 11 th with the Temple Christmas Party/Awards night the next evening on Saturday,

December 12 th . We are looking for a big turnout at both events.

Shelia and I consider it an honor and pleasure to serve this great organization. We will continue to work to make this Temple the very best it

can be. There is no other organization like the Shrine and we are proud to be a part of it!

We congratulate Illustrious Sir Bill Forshey and Lady Ruth for doing a super job under some trying times in 2020.

Remember, I’m Southern Proud, With A Caring Heart.

Yours In The Faith,

Shriners Creed

Shriners believe in God and that He created man to serve His purposes, among which is service to others in His name.

We believe that care for the less fortunate, especially children who suffer from burns and crippling diseases is our institutional calling.

We are patriots, each willing to serve his country with fidelity and courage. We cherish independence under law and freedom with responsibility.

We honor family. We respect our parents, wives and children. We should instill in our children the tenets of this creed, and the heritage from which it

As individuals we pledge ourselves to integrity, virtue and nobility of character. Our intentions will be honorable, our relations will be trustworthy and our

spirits forgiving of each other.

As brothers we offer each other fraternal affection and respect. Together we will support each other in adherence to this creed, so that we and our

communities will be the better because of our fraternity and it’s principles.

As Shriners we look beyond ourselves to serve the needs of others, especially children who cannot help themselves. We believe Shriners Hospitals to be the

world’s greatest philanthropy, and we covenant with each other to support its “Temples of mercy” with spirit, time, talent, and means.

Greeting Nobles and Ladies,

Message from the Recorder

During this troubling time, I hope this finds you and your family doing well and staying safe.

As the year progresses Alcazar has many more opportunities ahead, the Quarterly Meeting on October 9,

2020,the gun giveaway on October 10, 2020, the golf tournament on October 28, 2020, the Halloween party

on Halloween night, a ceremonial on November 14, 2020, Temple elections on December 11, 2020 and the

Christmas party and awards night on December 12, 2020.

In January 2021 we will have our Quarterly Meeting on January 8, 2021 and the installation of the 2021

Alcazar officers welcoming the new 2021 Potentate and Alcazar Divan. On January 9, 2021 the Temple will

have the party for the outgoing Potentate, Ill Sir Bill Forshey and Lady Ruth. I hope everyone will come to

these functions and join in the Imperial Potentates Fun and Fellowship program for his 2020 –2021 year.

With each edition of the Noble News I continue to talk about membership. This edition is no different. Alcazar Shrine still has approximately 60

Nobles that have not paid their dues for two (2) years and are in a posture to be suspended for non- payment of dues on January 1, 2021.

Nobles, we do not need to lose these men. In addition, we have many Nobles the have not paid their 2020 dues. If you have not paid your dues,

I urge you to do so as soon as possible. If you know someone with a hardship please contact the Temple office, we can and will help that Noble.

Once again, it has been a wonderful year despite all of the adversities. We are coming up on the holiday season and Lady Dottie Lou and I wish

you and your family a bountiful Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year.

Remember, Our Children are Our Guiding Light.
