Our athletics programs have earned notable distinctions that include 21 national championship titles, 12 state
titles and more than 100 student-athletes that have gone on to play professionally. We have varsity sports for
21 teams and sports academies for Boys Basketball, Boys Soccer, as well as Boys and Girls Tennis. Many
Montverde Academy sports programs compete in the Florida High School Athletic Association state series, while
its nationally renowned Boys Basketball program competes in the NIKE EYBL Scholastic Conference.

Be a part Montverde Academy Tennis (MAT), a premier tennis academy led by Brazilian
Davis Cup Captain, and 2021 Olympic Coach for Brazil, Jaime Oncins. MAT studentathletes
are trained in a rigorous program with highly competitive matches in the United
States and internationally to take their skills and talent to the next level.
This advanced program for grades 6-12 and post-graduate studies consists of professional,
customized development plans and tournament schedules. Student-athletes play in
high school competitions and compete in the United States Tennis Association (USTA)
and the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments and progress mentally and
physically to reach their full potential both on the court and in
the classroom.

student-athletes more opportunities for college
scholarships and professional athletic avenues.

EXPERIENCE COUNTS.
Learn from the best with our world-class coaching and training staff. Led by Program Director
and Head Coach, Jaime Oncins, a native of São Paulo, Brazil, with more than 15 years of
experience coaching juniors and professional players. He has worked with top players such as
Flavio Saretta, Andre Sa and Gastao Elias. Oncins began his tennis career at the age of six and
became a professional at 18. His credentials include:
- Coached the Brazilian team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, women’s doubles won bronze
- Best Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Singles - ranking 34 in the world
- Best ATP Doubles - ranking 22 in the world
- Quarterfinalist in Barcelona Olympic Games - defeated Michael Chang ( No. 2 in the world)
- 1992 defeated Ivan Lendl, quarter finalist in the French Open
- Competed in Davis Cup for 11 years
- Two ATP Tour titles
- Five ATP Doubles titles
- Qualified for the ATP Doubles Masters
- Doubles Semifinalist in the French Open 2000
- Mixed Doubles finalist in the French Open 2001
- Current Davis Cup captain for Brazil
- Coached Joao Menezes to a Gold medal at the Pan American Games 2019

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING.
The Strength and Conditioning Program at Montverde Academy Tennis goes well beyond the weight room.
Our goal is to work with student-athletes as soon as they arrive on campus to assess their individual physical
needs as well as provide performance testing to know how to best prepare them for their sport.
PROGRAM GOALS
- Improve speed, agility, flexibility, overall strength, technique and form
- Extensive weight room training
- Develop skills in the areas including nutrition, mobility, hydration, heat acclimation, recovery, and sleep.
