Program Objectives: Atlantic Acting School helps students to achieve a level of expertise in<br />

the Atlantic Acting Technique, Practical Aesthetics while also readying them for a career as a<br />

working actor in Film & Television, Stage, Voice Overs, and Beyond.<br />

History: Founded as an ensemble of students in 1985, Atlantic has grown into an Acting School<br />

and a twenty-two time Tony Award Winning Off-Broadway Theater Company. Atlantic Acting<br />

School has the only conservatory program in the world offering in-depth training in Practical<br />

Aesthetics, the Atlantic Technique, with a disciplined approach to script analysis and working<br />

truthfully moment-to-moment.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: The Atlantic Acting School is located on the third floor<br />

of the Google building in NYC. We operate out of seven studios at the school as well as Stage<br />

2, our 99-seat Off-Broadway space, and the Linda Gross Theater, our 199-seat Off-Broadway<br />

space. Atlantic students will perform and rehearse in all of these spaces at some point during<br />

their training.<br />

Scholarships and/or Assistantships: Atlantic offers various merit and need based partial<br />

scholarships as well as one full scholarship during the PA Scholarship auditions. Application<br />

Program Objectives: Our Bachelor of Fine Arts 2+2 program offers qualified students the<br />

opportunity to combine two years of liberal arts education in sunny St Petersburg, Florida, with<br />

two years of professional theatre training at Circle in the Square Theatre School, the only<br />

conservatory in a Broadway theatre. At Eckerd <strong>College</strong>, courses develop skills in acting,<br />

directing, design, and technical theatre and Circle in the Square is designed to develop the<br />

complete actor and singer.<br />

History: Circle in the Square Theatre School was originally located on Bleecker Street in<br />

Greenwich Village, producing plays written by Eugene O’Neill and introducing such actors as<br />

Jason Robards. Now uptown on West 50th Street with Broadway as its campus, Circle provides<br />

individual attention in small classes with a faculty composed of the finest actors and directors in<br />

New York. As a small liberal arts college located on the beaches of St Petersburg, Eckerd<br />

<strong>College</strong> students are offered eclectic training that produces independent, adaptable, motivated<br />

and responsible creative thinkers. The communication, analytical and artistic skills learned as an<br />

Eckerd theatre major will benefit students in any field of endeavor.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: At Eckerd <strong>College</strong>, students benefit from the use of<br />

Bininger Theatre, a large proscenium theater with a steeply pitched auditorium as well as the<br />

Studio Theatre, an intimate black box theater adaptable to thrust, arena, or round staging. In<br />

addition, Eckerd houses both a scene shop and a costume shop where production pieces are<br />

designed and built onsite. Circle in the Square is the only school housed in a Broadway theatre.<br />

In addition to utilizing the theater as a classroom, the school has seven studios.<br />

Program Objectives: The New York Film Academy seeks to promote and advance the art of<br />

Visual Storytelling (Film and related media including staged performance) as a transformational<br />

History: New York Film Academy (NYFA), the regionally accredited <strong>College</strong> of Visual and<br />

Performing Arts, is designed for a new generation of storytellers - artists who share a driving<br />

passion and want to learn by doing, creating their own projects in a hands-on, intensive<br />

environment. NYFA programs balance rigorous academics with practical application to train<br />

students to tell compelling visual stories and develop their skills to the fullest extent possible.<br />

Through the highest-quality, project-based education, NYFA students experience how all<br />

aspects of their chosen craft relate to, interact with, and depend upon each other.<br />

Program Objectives: To teach and demonstrate solid foundational skills in the theatre arts. To<br />

provide opportunities in the classroom, onstage, and backstage through which students can put<br />

these skills to the test, under the close mentorship of a highly qualified, artistic and caring<br />

faculty. To build upon each student’s current strengths, and to push them beyond their current<br />

limitations, so that they can grasp the concept of the lifelong process of developing their full<br />

potential as theatre artists. To create an atmosphere of artistic collaboration between and<br />

among the faculty and the students where it is possible to learn both from failure and from<br />

success. To produce, in the course of each academic year, a series of six or seven high-quality<br />

productions of plays, musicals, dance events and film festival events.<br />

History: Florida School of the Arts is a state-supported, two-year professional art school<br />

established in 1974 by the Florida State Board of Education. We are located on the Palatka<br />

campus of St. Johns River State <strong>College</strong> (SJR State). We are administered by a dean under the<br />

general supervision of the St. Johns River State <strong>College</strong> District Board of Trustees and the<br />

<strong>College</strong> president. The school, however, is statewide in scope, and has its own arts facility,<br />

faculty, administrative staff, mission statement, and curricula specific to each degree program.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: We have two theatre spaces: a 450-seat proscenium<br />

Mainstage theatre, and an 80-seat Black Box theatre/Acting classroom. We have well-equipped<br />

Costume and Scene shops, two dance studios, a music theory/piano lab, an all-purpose<br />

classroom, practice rooms, dressing rooms, a stage management office, a drafting classroom,<br />

and a conference room.<br />

your dreams and turn them into drama, or comedy, or simply performance. The Bachelor of Arts<br />

in theatre degree at NSU prepares you to excel as a professional in the performing arts. What<br />

You’ll Study: You'll cover all areas of a theatre degree, including acting for stage and screen,<br />

directing, design, dramaturgy, and technical theatre. Learn how to communicate effectively,<br />

identify historical periods and styles, and demonstrate skill in technical theatre, such as<br />

costuming, lighting, set design and construction. You'll also choose a concentration in Acting for<br />

Stage and Screen, Musical Theatre, or Design and Technical Production. How You’ll Learn<br />

More: Connect your stage work with experience in our costume and scenery shops, dance<br />

studios, music labs, and design studios for the theatre major. Where It Can Take You:<br />

Graduates of our theatre program have worked professionally at local theatres and performing<br />

arts schools, with national touring companies, and for international studios and audiences. Your<br />

broad training and experience will allow you to follow more than one path to a profession in arts<br />

History: Nova Southeastern <strong>University</strong> had been educating theatre professionals for the last 14<br />

years. NSU is located in the beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida area.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: We have four theatres on Campus. A 500 seat<br />

proscenium theatre, A 230 seat multipurpose theatre, a 100 seat classroom theatre, and a 100<br />

seat black box theatre. All of our spaces are top of the line with many practice rooms and<br />

Program Objectives: The UWF Theatre Department is an undergraduate only program<br />

focused on giving students the tools to succeed in the profession or on to a graduate program.<br />

History: The <strong>University</strong> of West Florida was established in 1963. Theatre has been a vibrant<br />

member of the <strong>University</strong> since its beginnings. Over the past 15 years the department has been<br />

steadily building the curriculum and the quality of the degrees offered. The theatre department<br />

now offers a BFA in Musical Theatre, Acting, and Design and Technology. Along with the BFA<br />

programs, the department offers a BA in Performance Studies and Arts Administration.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: The Theatre Department is housed in the Center for<br />

Fine and Performing Arts. The Theatre Department has two performance spaces, a 450<br />

Proscenium Theatre and a Flexible Black Box Theatre. The theatres are supported by a full<br />

scene shop and costume shop, and each space has state-of-the-art lighting and rigging<br />

systems. The Department also uses the dance facilities in the recreation building and the recital<br />

hall here in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts.<br />

Scholarships and/or Assistantships: The department offers a variety of scholarships and<br />

tuition waivers for performance students entering the program. The Design/Technology<br />

students have the opportunity to apply for a Besser Scholarship, an endowment established<br />

specifically for this degree program.<br />

History: The Theater Arts and Acting program at Arcadia <strong>University</strong> goes beyond a traditional<br />

conservatory-style approach—immersing you in all aspects of theatrical creation. The<br />

<strong>University</strong>’s intimate size provides close interaction with faculty in a liberal arts setting. Proximity<br />

to Philadelphia’s dynamic theatre community connects students with industry professionals who<br />

are regularly on campus as instructors and guest artists. Arcadia Theater productions provide<br />

History: Broadway Artists Alliance provides professional level training to talented young musical theatre<br />

performers. Located in the heart of New York City’s theatre district, BAA is uniquely situated to offer<br />

classes taught by TONY Award winners, Broadway performers and NYC’s top casting directors, agents,<br />

coaches and choreographers. Students receive group instruction and private coaching in vocal technique,<br />

song interpretation, sight singing, monologue work, scene study, on-camera acting, ballet, tap, jazz and<br />

musical theatre dance. BAA Students also gain insight into the professional world through class work,<br />

rehearsals, and industry showcases. Our students receive exceptional training from the best in the<br />

business and, as a result, can be seen in Broadway and off-Broadway productions, national tours, film,<br />

Auditorium is a 1500-seat proscenium theatre with an orchestra, mezzanine, loge, and balcony.<br />

In addition to being used for mainstage productions and dance concerts, Keppel Auditorium is<br />

regularly rented out to local groups and touring companies. Often, Catawba students are given<br />

the opportunity to work with these groups in a house crew capacity. The auditorium is equipped<br />

with a single purchase fly system with 31 battens. Students are provided many opportunities to<br />

work with the equipment in real production situations.<br />

facility features two state-of-the-art performance spaces. Main Theater: A proscenium-style<br />

venue that is intimate, yet grand in style. It features seating for 859 guests, an orchestra pit, fly<br />

tower, digital sound boards, computerized lighting and dimming, and excellent sight lines from<br />

every seat. Studio Theater: This 264-seat venue offers a thrust-proscenium hybrid-style design,<br />

with the stage amidst the audience. The theater boasts a trap floor and wire tension grid that<br />

allows for greater lighting flexibility. Other amenities include dance studio rehearsal space with<br />

History: FIU Theatre is uniquely situated in a major global city distinguished by cultural diversity<br />

and a vibrant arts scene. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST),<br />

we produce 4-5 shows a year, spanning genres, historical eras, and styles. All of our shows are<br />

performed, designed, and built by our talented students and faculty.<br />

Only 125 majors are selected for our program. This gives our students many opportunities to<br />

work on productions and receive one-on-one mentorship from our quality faculty. FIU is the<br />

History: Indian River State <strong>College</strong> is located on Florida's east coast, about an hour north of<br />

Program Objectives: The BA degree in Theatre will provide students with a well-rounded<br />

as well as double major. This degree is well accepted if the student actor plans to attend<br />

graduate school. The BFA degree is a pre-professional degree, dedicated to training and<br />

History: Lees-McRae <strong>College</strong> started life as junior college, serving the local residents of the<br />

Appalachian region in western North Carolina. It grew into a 4-year, degree-granting college in<br />

1990, and now offers 26 majors and 21 minors to nearly 900 students through on-campus and<br />

online programs. The Theatre Arts program came to life in the 1980s and now is one of the<br />

flagship programs at LMC. Our professional summer theatre company brings actors and<br />

technicians from all over the country to Banner Elk where they provide quality performances to<br />

hundreds of patrons each summer and opportunities for our students to learn about theatre with<br />

internships and professional contracts. During the academic year, we usually produce three<br />

main stage shows plus a series of student-directed one-acts.<br />

Program Objectives: Reflective of current trends in art-making, the Rowan B.A.Theatre and<br />

B.A. Dance programs educate young artists in the integrated practice of theatre and dance so<br />

that they will enter the professional field with the necessary skills and creative background<br />

required for performance work in ensemble based theatre and/or dance companies. More<br />

importantly, we encourage students to have a broad base of experience in all aspects of<br />

theatre/danc e including history, theory, literature, and technical skills, and encourage students<br />

to seek cross disciplinary experiences, internships, and curricula in other programs on campus,<br />

regionally, and abroad to prepare them as independent creative and articulate artists and<br />

History: Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, the Department provides<br />

a broad-based education that integrates physical, vocal, and performance technique with the<br />

intellectual skill and training necessary for lifelong learning. There are four concentrations<br />

within the BA Theatre major: Acting, Musical Theatre, Pre-Teaching, Design/Technical. The<br />

Department of Theatre and Dance has an approximate enrollment of 140 Majors and 25 Minors.<br />

There are currently (11) Full-Time Faculty members, (21) Adjuncts, and a Department Secretary,<br />

a Facilities Manager/Lighting Designer/Assistant Technical Director a Music/Sound/Technical<br />

the majority of the Theatre and Dance Department mainstage productions. In 2013, Tohill<br />

sound, set design and management training. They may learn costume and makeup techniques<br />

History: The BFA in Dramatic Arts offered at the School of Drama takes a unique approach to<br />

training tomorrow's professional theatre artists. An interdisciplinary, studio-based structure<br />

ensures our artists are given a foundation in Acting, Directing, Playwriting, and Creative<br />

Technology, and then allows them to combine practices and areas of interest in whatever way<br />

in New York City. Creative Technology is a multi-disciplinary course of study for theater<br />

students interested in the integration of digital media with live performance, including sound<br />

design, video projection design and filmmaking. Successful students self-identify as multihyphenate<br />

theater artists such as director/designer, writer/director, writer/actor, or<br />

actor/designer. While the Creative Technologies courses each focus on learning digital tools<br />

and production process, students will apply these concepts in the service of dramatic<br />

storytelling. The BFA Creative Technologies track culminates in a variety of capstone<br />

opportunities including a senior project in Film & Media, sound and/or projection design<br />

opportunities for BFA Creative Cafe productions, and the potential to assist or design a main<br />

foundation in various acting techniques, play analysis, directing, stagecraft, fundamentals of<br />

design, lighting and theatre history.<br />

History: As Alabama’s only public liberal arts university, we take pride in knowing that our<br />

curriculum is both challenging and affordable. We emphasize training the “whole artist” so that<br />

students are prepared to pursue a variety of fields that require creative and critical thinking as<br />

Center for the Arts just recently opened in August <strong>2020</strong> and is the new home to the Department<br />

digital fabrication lab which will house two large format printers and a 3-D printer, design labs<br />

with animation software, multiple classrooms, theatre faculty and college offices, vocal<br />

performance rehearsal rooms, a dance studio, state-of-the-art production shops.<br />

Program Objectives: The <strong>University</strong> of Tampa offers an intensive four-year program<br />

interdisciplinary BFA Musical Theatre major that includes vocal music, theatre and<br />

dance. Our BA in Theatre is focused on actor training and performance, and the BA in<br />

Dance provides an introduction to choreographic and pedagogical skills needed for<br />

teaching diverse populations and communities. Students may participate in as many as<br />

six theatrical productions per academic year, as well as five dance productions, and a<br />

variety of recitals, concerts and workshops.<br />

History: The <strong>University</strong> of Tampa began its Musical Theatre Program in 1995 and since<br />

its inception, the program has grown in breadth, reputation and size. The major in<br />

Theatre was initiated in 2005 and our newest major in Dance has grown in size and<br />

distinction in only its first few years. Although individuals participating in the <strong>FTC</strong>’s<br />

Community <strong>College</strong>/Secondary School Auditions may be allowed to consider their<br />

performances as the audition for the Musical Theatre and/or Theatre program.<br />

Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: Currently, all theatrical performances take place at<br />

the David Falk Theatre, a fully equipped, 950+ seat proscenium-style theatre, which is<br />

home to the Department of Theatre and Dance. Originally built in 1928 as the Park<br />

Theatre, the building was renamed after being renovated in the 1980’s by the Falk<br />

Foundation. Nearly all acting and theatre courses are taught within this unique theatrical<br />

space.<br />
