Pat McGann is quickly rising as one of the sharpest stand-ups in
the comedy world. A relative latecomer to the scene, Pat began
stand up at the age of 31 after realizing he was not very good at
selling packaging. He hustled his way to become the house
emcee at Zanies Chicago, where he distinguished himself as
especially adept at working the crowd. A husband and father of
three young children, Pat’s appeal stems from his quick wit and
relatable take on family life and marriage.
In 2017, McGann began touring as the opening act for
Sebastian Maniscalco, moving with him from clubs, to theater,
and to arenas, including four sold out shows at Madison Square
Garden. McGann’s relatively short, but impressive resume,
includes performances on The Late Show with David
Letterman, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Montreal’s
famed Just For Laughs Festival, Gilda’s LaughFest, The Great
American Comedy Festival and the Nashville Comedy Fest.
McGann still calls Chicago home.

The Chicago/Midwest Chapter is one of 19 regional chapters across the
U.S. As part of the Emmy ® process, we judge entries from other chapters
in exchange for television professionals from those regions judging our
entries.
For the 2019-20 awards’ year, 500 judges from our region judged entries
from these chapters:
• Boston/New England Chapter (9 MA, CT, RI, ME, NH, VT markets)
• Heartland (12 CO, KS, NE, OK markets)
• Lower Great Lakes (8 OH, IN, PA markets)
• Lone Star (19 TX markets)
• Mid-Atlantic (9 PA, NJ markets)
• Mid-South (12 TN, NC, AL markets)
• New York (8 NY, NJ, CT markets)
• San Francisco/Northern California (10 CA, HI, NV markets)
• Suncoast (15 FL, LA, AL, PR markets).
As part of this process, more than 600 peer judges from those 9 regional
chapters judged our chapter’s 900 entries based on three criteria:
content, creativity and execution. Judges must have a minimum of
two years professional experience in news, production, programming
or allied media and be directly engaged in or supervise the discipline.
The success of the Emmy ® awards process depends on the willingness of
qualified professionals to serve as judges.
Chicago/Midwest Chapter members who have served as peer judges
tell us that seeing work from other parts of the country has inspired
them, sparked new ideas for future projects of their own and in some
cases showed them what might not work so well. We are always in need
of judges – this year, our season ran from January-October. If you have
questions about judging or are willing to serve as an Emmy ® peer judge,
please contact Emmy Judging Co-Chairs: Jamie Ceaser or Diana Borri.
