Clergy and StaffSt. Paul’s currently has paid full-time staffpositions including a rector, an assistantrector, a director of music, a parishadministrator, and a sexton who lives oncampus. Part-time staff includes a parishbookkeeper, an associate for communications,an organ scholar, a musician, and eightpaid singers. Clergy responsibilities havehistorically been divided between the rectorand the assistant clergy.30
VestryThe St. Paul’s Vestry’s primary responsibilityis the stewardship of the physical and financialassets of the church. It works in partnershipwith the clergy to manage the parish’s affairs.The Vestry’s authority is exercised largelythrough committees, which usually includeboth Vestry and non-Vestry members.The Vestry currently has 13 members, whoserve staggered three-year terms and arelimited to two consecutive terms. (We arein the process of reducing its size from 16to 12.). In addition to the rector’s warden,who is appointed by the rector, other Vestryofficers, elected from its membership, includea parishioners’ warden, an accounting warden,and a secretary.The Coordinating Committee consistsof the rector and six Vestry members, Itserves as a support body for the rector andthe Vestry. It also serves as the parish’spersonnel committee.Currently the Vestry is leading thechange process through this interimperiod and in response to the challengesof the COVID-19 pandemic. Meetingseveral times a month, we are engagedin reaffirming the parish’s core values,exploring our identity as one church,and planning strategically for the carefulstewardship of our resources.The Vestry looks forward to a strongpartnership with our next rector.31
