YARD OF THE MONTH
The Sheffield HOA wants to recognize one neighbor every month for
their dedication and devotion to the upkeep of their front yard. Each
month’s winner will be featured in the Sheffield newsletter and will get
bragging rights with a Yard of the Month sign displayed in their yard for
that month. Residents can win only once per calendar year and must be
in good standing. Good luck!
GARBAGE SERVICE
The trash pick-up schedule in Sheffield is Tuesday and Friday. Heavy trash
days are every other Tuesday. Please remember to keep your garbage cans
at least three feet away from other garbage cans, cars, poles or anything
that may block the truck from gaining access to the can on pick-up days.
Also remember that items piled up by the garbage can will not be picked
up except on heavy trash days. Recycling is picked up on Friday.
REMINDER - the garbage contract is through your water company –
Langham Creek UD. If you need more specific information on pick-days
or any other item that is related to garbage pick-up please call Langham
Creek UD at 281-376-8802 or email them at customerservice@wdmtexas.
com or you can call the garbage company, WCA at 281-368-8397. This is
not an HOA contract or a service that is provided by the HOA.
REMINDER FROM THE SHEFFIELD BOARD
PLEASE NOTE: An ACC application must be submitted and approved prior
to you adding shrubs or fencing in the front of your property. Please see
the HOA guidelines regarding fencing requirements to ensure that fencing
additions meet guidelines and that you submit your plans and application
for approval PRIOR to doing any modifications. The ACC application form
can be downloaded from the Crest Management website at www.crestmanagement.com,
please select Communities at the top of the page and
then select Sheffield. The ACC application will be located at the bottom of
the page. The applications should be submitted to Crest Management as
indicated on the form. Please, remember Sheffield HOA does not manage
your trash service. This service is through Langham Creek MUD (water bill)
281-579-4500. If you have any questions regarding the new service, please
refer back to the insert that was included in your water bill or contact WCA
at 281-368-8397 or the MUD. We thank you for your cooperation in this
matter. Sincerely, Your Sheffield Board
ACC APPLICATION
Please request the ACC application for your home improvement or
modification. Please include all the necessary forms, photo, paint samples,
solar screen samples, drawings, brochure, lot survey and your signature
for us to complete your request in a timely manner. If these items are not
submitted with your application, your request is denied. A LOT SURVEY
IS AN ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING OF YOUR PROPERTY SHOWING YOUR
HOME, EASEMENTS AND BUILDING LINES. A COPY CAME WITH YOUR
CLOSING PAPERS.
You will be notified by letter after the committee has made a decision.
They have 30 days to review and respond to your application. If you have
any questions regarding your forms, please contact Crest Management.
IMPORTANT: REMEMBER, WITHOUT PROVIDING EVERYTHING WE NEED-
YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE DENIED.
DEED RESTRICTION VIOLATIONS
Do you know what the top three reasons management companies send
out deed restriction letters? The first is not keeping your yard mowed and
weeded. Mow your yard on a regular basis, keeping it a little higher in
the summer months, which helps in water retention and crowding out
weeds. The second is leaving your trashcans out in front of the house or
garage. Trashcans should be kept out of sight (in the garage, behind the
privacy fence or behind shrubs or a purpose built enclosure. Contact Crest
Management if you wish to build a trashcan enclosure for Architectural
Control forms. The third reason is mildew on the house siding. This often
happens on shady areas of the house. Power washing or spraying with a
cleaning solution for mildew often takes care of the problem.

GARAGE SALE SIGNS
Placing garage sale signs in the flower and shrub beds within the
neighborhood is not permitted. Such signs found in the flower and shrub
beds will be removed immediately and placed in the trash.
COMMUNITY INFORMATION / MEETING NOTICES
If you are interested in receiving Board meeting email notifications,
please go to the Crest website at www.crest-management.com and go to
communities, then scroll down to Sheffield and there you will find a place
to sign up with your email address and if you scroll to the bottom, you can
obtain community information, legal documents or applications as well.
PETS
Please remember that you are not allowed by law to let your dogs and cats
run loose in the neighborhood. If caught, you may receive a ticket in the
amount of up to $500 for such a violation (we have had residents receive
such a ticket). If you see loose pets you can contact Harris County Animal
Control. A number of Sheffield residents either walk their dogs or let their
cats run loose. It is a violation of deed restrictions to let your pet leave their
poop on another resident’s lawn or the common grounds (they belong to
all of Sheffield’s residents). If your pet does have to go to the bathroom,
please be courteous and carry a plastic bag (store bags or the newspaper
delivery bag are great for this), pick up the pile by placing your hand inside
the bag, grab the pile through the bag, tie the bag up and throw it in the
garbage. To report stray or unconfined animals call 281-999-3191, Monday
thru Friday during the hours of 9 AM until 6 PM.
VANDALISM
Remember, if you see suspicious activity in or around Sheffield, please
immediately call the Harris County Sheriff’s Department at 713-221-6000.

LANGHAM CREEK STUDENT
CROWNED MISS TEEN TELUGU UNIVERSE
Langham Creek High School sophomore Nitya Kodali was crowned
Miss Teen Telugu Universe 2020. The international pageant consisted
of finalists from more than 40 countries including India, Canada, New
Zealand, Australia, Dubai and the United Kingdom, as the cultural event
took place in collaboration with more than 100 organizations and 18,000
participants.
A jury panel declared Kodali the winner and she was officially crowned
Oct. 3. The pageant’s vision and goal is to nurture, promote and advance
Telugu culture in young women across the world. It consisted of multiple
rounds, including Telugu speaking, question and answer and talent.
Kodali was among 22 finalists chosen from more than 700 semifinalists to
compete in the grand finals representing her Indian Telugu community
despite being one of the pageant’s youngest contestants at 15 years old.
“I was in complete shock when they announced my name at the pageant,”
Kodali said. “This was my first time competing in a pageant and it is
honestly a dream come true to be honored with such a prestigious title.
My journey to the crown has certainly been unforgettable and required
lots of hard work.”
Kodali has added more successful pageant experience, winning titles
of Miss Yuvarani USA and Miss International Congeniality following the
initial crown.
Kodali actively participates in HOSA - Future Health Professionals and
Science Olympiad at Langham Creek. She volunteers at Houston’s local
Telugu school as a teacher to help promote her language and culture. In
addition, she is the founder, director and CEO of Letters & Love, a studentled
volunteer organization dedicated to spreading positivity across the
world through letters.
“Pageants are a wonderful opportunity for self-development and
confidence,” Kodali said. “You meet wonderful people along the way
and truly foster beautiful connections. Telugu culture has always been a
strong part of my identity and I am immensely grateful to represent the
Telugu community across the globe as the world’s first-ever Miss Teen
Telugu Universe.”

SAM HOUSTON AREA COUNCIL
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
FAMILY FOCUSED. VALUE DRIVEN. Cub Scouting is a year-round
program uniquely designed to meet the needs of young boys & girls
(kindergarten through fifth grade) and their families. The program offers
fun and challenging activities that promote character development and
physical fitness. Family involvement is an essential part of the program
and parents are encouraged to play an active role. Cub Scouting helps
parents make the most of the short time they have to impact the lives of
their children. SOME KIDS AVOID OBSTACLES. SCOUTS OVERCOME THEM.
Scouts BSA is a year-round program for boys and girls in fifth grade
through high school that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge
and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves.
In Scouts BSA, young men and women go places, test themselves and
have one-of-a-kind adventures that can’t be found anywhere else. There
is something for everyone in Scouting! New scouting units are starting
in your community right now. Come join an adventure of a lifetime in

BOY SCOUT TROOP 609
Boy Scout Troop 609 is a specialized for Boys with high functioning
Autism Spectrum Disorders. They meet at the Westview School on the 1 st
and 3 rd Saturday of the month from 9:30-11:30 AM.
BOY SCOUT TROOP 838
Troop 838 is a small pack located near Hwy 6 and West Road at the
Crossbridges Church. We are between the Copperfield and Aberdeen
neighborhoods. Being a smaller troop allows us to be flexible and address
the needs of our scouts more nimbly. We currently have boys from ages 11
to 17 within our group working to make Eagle. We try to camp monthly,
with a wide variety of locations on our agenda. The different locations are
chosen by the senior boys to more directly meet our training needs and
to keep expenses low. In fact, we have some of the lowest expenses in the
area. Our adult leaders are all experienced with years of scouting under
their belt per individual. We also work closely with several local packs of
cub scouts and participate in civic duties around the area as well. Please
contact us at TROOP838CYPRESS.ORG or 414-331-3321.
TROOP 1865
Troop 1865 runs a diverse program of outdoor and service activities,
with events selected by the scouts themselves. We meet Mondays at 6:30
PM, at the Copperfield HOA building on Willow River and Hwy 6, behind
Labay. We’ve gone backpacking through the National Forest, rappelling
off Enchanted Rock, Survival camping, boating, canoeing and anything
else the scouts can dream up. We do high-adventure camping at
Philmont and Seabase. Our advancement program has enabled scout to
achieve the coveted rank of Eagle Scout at 10 times the national average
rate. We see scouting as a practice run on adult life. Scouts learn about
leadership and teamwork through having to work together in the field.
We learn about responsibility through fund-raising activities that have
allowed the entire troop to pay for their own summer camp each year.
CUB SCOUT PACK 2
We are an active year round pack for Kindergarten-5 th grade that focuses
on life skills, teamwork, leadership and FUN! Cub Scout activities include
camping, fishing, pinewood derby, hiking and much more! During the
school year we meet on the 3 rd Monday of each month at 7 PM at Birkes

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA -
COPPERHEAD DISTRICT
For 100 years, Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found
in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in
helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting
helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership
skills, outdoor skills and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives.
The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities
that allow them to:
• Try new things.
• Provide service to others.
• Build self-confidence.
• Reinforce ethical standards.
Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as
individuals while promoting activities that lead to personal responsibility
and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made,
peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made. Scouting
provides a rewarding experience for boys ages 5 to 21. Scouting through
the local Packs and Troops teach outdoor and life skills which help our
youth Be Prepared. Your area is serviced by the BSA Sam Houston Area
Counsel - Copperhead District which includes 23 Cub Scout Packs (boys 5
to 10 years old), 13 Troops (boys from 11 to 18 years old) and 10 Venturing
