ONLINE REGISTRATION PASSWORDS: The Peabody Recreation Department now provides online program registration.

Online registration spaces will be limited, which will allow those who do not have access to the system to

register using other methods. You will need a username and password in order to utilize the online program registration

system. If you forget your password call the office at (978) 536-7130 to get it reset, do not click the link

to “send you a new password”, it won’t send you a new password, you must call to reset your password.

If you are dissatisfied with a program for any reason or need to cancel, the Recreation Dept. must be

notified before the beginning of the second class to receive a refund minus a $10.00 processing fee,

otherwise, a pro-rated credit will be placed in your account from the date you notify the office of

your cancellation.

Refunds on Credit cards are processed immediately. Check & Cash refunds take 2-3 weeks to process.


We will do our best to reschedule a make up for a missed class that we cancel, but we cannot

guarantee it. If we are unable to offer a make up class, we will give a credit for that class.

Join us this fall for some afterschool fun in the gym and some homework help. We’ll start the afternoon

with some of your favorite games that will make you move and burn some of that afterschool

energy. Then we’ll take a snack break and do a little homework. Our staff will become your homework

helpers. Then we’ll spend the last hour playing more games. Students must bring some homework

or a book to read each week.

Come learn with the best! Fencing promotes physical

fitness, the ability to develop strategy and concentration

as well as camaraderie and respect. Classes are

free to start. It is unique in the fencing world because

it is an all-volunteer organization available to anyone

interested in the sport. Founded in the 1960s by Joe

Pechinsky, it is lead by a team of accomplished fencers

who donate their time each week as coaches. Joining

the club entitles you to 2 nights of fencing in addition

to the lessons, use of club equipment, and private lessons.

Tanner City Fencers Club has 7 trained coaches. In addition, informal instruction is always available

from other members. There is no floor fee, but the nominal yearly membership dues help defray

equipment costs.

PYTV- Take 2 is an advanced program that will allow students to explore deeper avenues within media

production. Starting with media literacy, we will move towards dissecting public service announcements

and ultimately go on to produce several short PSA's of our own with a focus on a positive

lifestyles in the community. Students will have access to PAT's HD tapeless cameras and are encouraged

to think creatively to developed positive messages through camera angles, storytelling, and

much more!

Ninjago Lego Workshop

Explore the world of Ninjago! Join the team from Event-FULL!, LLC (www.event-full.net) and create a

LEGO world of defending the good! Create your own Ninjago story and battle the toughest LEGO

warriors to help make the world a better place. The LEGOs stay with us but your memory will last a

lifetime! Each participant will take home a framed photo of themselves with their LEGO Ninjago creation.

Theme: Carnival Fun

Join the team from Event-FULL! LCC (www.event-full.net) and bring your special friend (does not

have to be an American Girl Doll - feel free to bring a favorite stuffed animal if you choose) to this

workshop for several hours that you will both enjoy. Everything will be centered around a Carnival!

Music and fun for you and your little one! Hula Hoop Challenges, Cup Stacking, Freeze Dancing

and Much MORE! What you make and take home for you and your doll will lead to hours and hours

of continued play and enjoyment. Please send your child with a nut-free snack and drink. Program is

Young Picasso Decorative Painting

Decorative painting is a form of self-expression allowing the painter

to create his or her own ideas with color and design. Students will

learn painting techniques for basic brush strokes, and then put their

talent to work by creating a finished project. Acrylic paint will be

used, so please provide a shirt for painting.

Wine Bottles on Canvas

Students will learn to paint a scene of wine bottles

with a colorful background. A fun and

whimsical design using Acrylic paints, this painting

will look great hung in a kitchen or room of

your choice.

Decorative Painted Boxes and Items

for Gift Giving

Students will learn to paint a variety of flowers and

some basic Scroll Work Designs then apply them to

plain boxes of various sizes. These boxes are great

for gifts as well as storage. The class will spend a

few weeks of class learning to paint designs on

items that can be given as gifts for the holidays.

All levels of painters are welcome! Jeanette will provide step by step instruction in each class.

Introduction to brushstroke painting

Join artist Jeanette Lerner in this one day workshop where students will be introduced to loading a

brush and some basic paint strokes. Acrylic paints will be used. Students will be taught how to paint

a sunflower, daisies and basic leaves. After practice time students will paint on a canvas board. This

is a great beginner’s workshop or for students wanting to return to painting.

The focus of this class is to learn a variety of techniques and concepts to give you more options for

creativity. Each lesson begins with a demonstration and practice of skills needed to complete the

project. Learn different ways of handling the same subject, advanced use of color and design, and

finding your own style. Some experience helpful, but

not necessary.

Looking for more? If you have completed the Couch to 5K and are ready to

“take the next step” or if you just want to take your personal running training

to the next level – this is the program for you! The program consists of

3 days a week with trainer Mark Dawson and a fourth day on your own. If

you can’t make one day during the week you can always do the workout on

your own. The group workouts tend to be more successful, but there is

room to do it on your own if it doesn’t always fit your schedule. We will

start promptly at 6:00 pm. This rain or shine workout is timed, so it is important

to be on time! At the end of the program runners will have the opportunity

to participate in the Wild Turkey 5 Mile Race in Salem, MA (Race

registration fee not included).

A 1-hour class. This class will include 40 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of muscle strengthening

with weights, core strengthening exercises (abs, back, and hips) and stretching. Please bring a mat

Come turn inward, stretch, breathe, and relax. In this yoga class you

will be practicing yoga flow stretching into deep relaxation. Hatha

Yoga is a gentle basic practice, great for beginners.

Need to tone up? This muscle conditioning class will give you everything you need. A full one hour

of total body conditioning, targeting large muscle groups like abs, gluts, chest, shoulders, quads

and, as time permits, working smaller muscles. 20 minutes cardio, 20 minutes full body toning

with hand weights, and 20 minutes with Bender Ball. Please bring a

mat, a set of 1-5 lbs. weights, a Bender Ball or Yoga/Pilates Ball, water

The Zumba Fitness program is a Latin inspired, dance fitness that incorporates Latin and international

music and dance movements. It combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the

body using an aerobic fitness approach to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle

toning benefits. The cardio based dance movements are easy to follow steps. Previous dance experience

is NOT NECESSARY, and it is instructed with a party like atmosphere

It’s harvest season at Brooksby Farm. Come learn how to make an “etched” pumpkin carving. This

three-day workshop includes instruction and all required materials. These electrically lighted pumpkins

will astound your neighbors on Halloween!

Looking for something new to do on your early release days ? Come rock-climbing with Peabody Outdoor

Adventures! Price includes transportation to and from the Higgins Middle School mall area as

This program is designed for climbers of all ability levels. Climbing is a sport on the

rise and it’s no wonder considering the benefits it offers to one’s strength, flexibility

and endurance. Sessions will be held one night a week at MetroRock in New-

buryport. This club is a great first step to a lifetime

of rock-climbing, as well as a great way to

build athleticism during the long winter.

Did you know that the New England waves are at their best in the Fall?

Join us for this 2-day program to Hampton Beach to learn how to surf!

Cost includes board and wetsuit rental, as well as instruction. Transportations

to and from the Higgins Middle School. Pack water (32 oz.

minimum), lunch/dinner, bathing suit and warm clothes including jacket,

warm pants, winter hat, gloves and socks.

Explore the Winter Wonderland of the New Hampshire White Mountains. We will spend the night at

The Appalachian Mountain Club’s Joe Dodge Lodge on Thursday night before hiking into AMC’s Carter

Notch Hut on Friday. We will provide all necessary winter clothing as well as snowshoes. Participants

should have some hiking experience and be physically active on a regular basis.

Military Academy, West Point, NY. A coffee/breakfast stop (on your own) will be

reserved center end zone seats for the 12:00 PM game and watch as The Eagles,

take on the Black Knights in this exciting football rivalry. A dinner stop (on your
