Huny Press Kit

Huny is a small town café that serves specialty honeys, brunch, and beverages from early morning to mid-afternoon. After hours, the café transforms into a community learning center, encouraging studying, environmental research, and communication. Its logo is an ambigram, inspired by the back and forth dance performed by honeybees to signal a good source of nectar. The branding is consistent in its theme of geometry, science, and simplicity.

who we are

we’re not just passionate purveyors

of honey, but all else

that goes with a full and rewarding

sweet experience.

our team is there every step of

the way, from planting seeds,

to infusing honey.

it’s not unusual to see people

at huny to chat, meet up or

even work. our goal is to be

the neighborhood gathering

place, a part of people’s daily

routine – and we couldn’t be

happier about it. we make

sure everything we do is

through the lens of humanity

– from our commitment

to the highest quality honey

in the world, to the way we

thoughtfully engage with our

customers and communities

to do business responsibly.

through everything we do, we

are harvesting community to

create a sweeter environment.

our team

sister duo, susan and maria

notte are the co-founders of

huny. their passion for good

food, environmentalism, and

community is evident through

every moment in our cafe. susan

works inside and manages

food preparation and customer

expierience, while maria

fosters after hours events and

oversees honey production.

together they are a well oiled

machine.

our staff is a tight knit team of

awesome people dedicated to

the art of honey. we’re always

learning and sharing news

about the industry, practicing

our culinary art, and finding

more ways to have fun with

honey. from our products to

our processes, we care about

making great honey for our

community.

our honey

from bee

our honey starts as

nectar collected by bees,

which gets broken down into

simple sugars stored inside

the honeycomb. honey’s color

and flavor varies based on the

nectar collected by the bees.

apis mellifera ligustica

to hive

our beekeepers harvest it by

collecting the honeycomb

frames and scraping off the

wax cap. once the caps are removed,

the frames are placed

in an extractor, a centrifuge

that spins the frames, forcing

honey out of the comb.

to home

after the honey is extracted,

it’s strained to remove any

remaining wax and other

particles. after straining, it’s

time to infuse, bottle, label

and bring right to you.

our interior

similar to the buzzing energy

outisde, huny is bustling like

a busy bee. our interior space

is decorated with repurposed

furniture, donated tableware,

and energy saving lighting. our

interior is a nod to our exterior.

huny is meant to accomodate

everyone from the family of

five to the overnight college

student. we host free wifi, multiple

phone charging stations,

and free refills with student

identification. at the core of our

café you’ll find the ‘community

table’; a dining room style table

meant to bring people together

and share conversation.

running late to work? not

a problem! our baristas are

accustomed to meet the demands

of fast caffeine service

and quick conversation for a

mood booster!

after hours

after our cafe hours close for

the day, huny transforms into

a learning center for ethical

environmentalism practices.

bring your friends or the

whole family for workshops,

daily activities, guest speakers,

and study sessions!

we care about community

outreach and fostering a

loving family here at huny. the

more we understand about

our environment and neighbors,

the better!

during the summertime we

host our junior beekeeper

camp, transforming your child

into a beekeper in just a few

days! for older folks, our environmental

mentorship program

is a great way to lend a

helping hand and give back.

our menu

we use locally produced dairy

in our milk-based drinks, as

well as a variety of high quality

milk alternatives for our

nondairy customers. we make

all of our syrups in house for

the same reason – the quality

matches the high standards

of our other ingredients. it

also allows our baristas to

flex their creative muscles

and come up with some truly

inventive flavors!

while our menu is honey centric,

those who are only looking

for an aftertaste will still

find enjoyment in our wide

selection of morning bites,

pastries, and speciality drinks.

our menu rotates with the

seasons, utilizing local harvests

to keep our food fresh.
