December 2020

Dear friends

Christmas for all of us will be different this year. Plans have been put

on hold and for many it will be the first Christmas without a loved

one. During the dark December days of Advent we are reminded

once again of the comforting words from John 1:5

The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has never

overcome it

Be assured of our prayers for you all and may the peace and the

light of the Christ child be with you this Christmas

Every blessing

Pauline, Stuart and Lin

O Come let us adore Him ——

Sing your heart out !

We cannot sing in Church but we can sing out loud at home The

hymn below is set to “Land of Hope and Glory”

1 Christ is surely coming bringing his reward,

Alpha and Omega, First and Last and Lord:

Root and stem of David, brilliant Morning Star:

meet your Judge and Saviour, nations near and far;

meet your Judge and Saviour, nations near and far!

2 See the holy city! There they enter in,

All by Christ made holy, washed from every sin:

thirsty ones, desiring all he loves to give,

come for living water, freely drink, and live;

come for living water, freely drink, and live!

3 Grace be with God's people! Praise his holy name!

Father, Son, and Spirit, evermore the same.

Hear the certain promise from the eternal home:

'Surely I come quickly!' Come, Lord Jesus, come;

'Surely I come quickly!' Come, Lord Jesus, come!

Just a thought

The Government`s plan was to save Christmas

God`s plan was that Christmas would save us

Comfort and Joy is the Church of England theme for Advent

and Christmas 2020. It holds together the hope that Christmas

will bring joy and celebration after a difficult year .

God of comfort and joy may we know your presence with

us today and bring your gentle, joyful love to others, this

Christmas time and always. Amen

Ho! Ho! Ho !

What do you get when you cross a snowman and a dog?

What do you call Frosty the Snowman in May?

A puddle

What do you call an elf wearing ear muffs?

Anything you want. He can’t hear you!

Many Congratulations to Neil Thompson a member at Ormskirk Parish

Church who has been given the High Sheriff Award for community spirit

during the pandemic.

Neil is Mr's, he has a stall at, on Thursdays and Saturdays

He was given the 'exceptional voluntary service to the community during

the Covid-19 pandemic. '

The High Sheriff’s Covid-19 Awards were given to people and

organisations from the county of Lancashire that made outstanding

contributions to alleviate the challenges of the Covid pandemic.

Knowing that someone was thinking of you and cakes lift the spirit Neil

started putting together small boxes of goodies to leave on the doorstep

of people on need. He also made boxes with all the ingredients to bake

Walk with us Lord in our community, we give you thanks for all

whose acts of unseen kindness show your love. May we be willing

to stand alongside each other in joy, sorrow or need and help us

shine as your light in the neighbourhood where you have placed

us. Amen
