DEAR MAINE COAST WALDORF FAMILIES AND FRIENDS,
This year, due to COVID-19, nearly every aspect of our lives is different, both at home and at MCWS.
We have had to adapt to rapidly changing conditions, carry the burden of added stress, and become
comfortable with uncertainty. And yet, during this global crisis, the essential tenets of Waldorf
education and the strength of this community shine even more brightly. We see it in so many ways.
All fall, 260 students were playing and learning together, creating beautiful music and art, acting in
plays, immersing themselves in scientific inquiry and making lifelong friends. Parents, grandparents
and friends are helping in numerous and generous ways. The faculty at MCWS, drawing on a love
for their students and fueled by their conviction that Waldorf education is deeply therapeutic, are
providing what all of us want during this difficult time: intensely joyful moments, the thrill of
wonder and intellectual insights, the chance to act with courage, a caring community, and hope
for the future.
None of this could be possible without you. We are so grateful for the many ways you support this
school and its community. Your acts of kindness buoy us, your expertise guides us, and your generous
financial donations enable us to provide a world-class Waldorf education in the midst of a global
crisis. Each contribution is essential, and each contribution is making a difference. Thank you!
If you are able to do so, we invite you to make a gift to the 2020-21 Maine Coast Waldorf Fund. Our
goal is $185,000. This brochure describes how your gift, at whatever amount feels possible, will help
us meet these challenges together and emerge as an even stronger and more connected community.
With much gratitude,
Frederick Veitch, Board President
Lynne W. Espy, Development Director

COVID Relief Fund hugely successful!
Last spring, as COVID-19 caused upheaval, the Maine Coast
Waldorf community responded with an outpouring of
generosity and support to meet urgent needs: outdoor classrooms,
HEPA air filters, cleaning supplies, a nursing station,
new AV technology, increased Tiered Tuition support for
families experiencing financial challenges, and fresh garden
produce for families within and beyond MCWS who are facing
the challenge of food insecurity.
Your gift to the Maine Coast Waldorf Fund, at whatever amount
feels possible, supports all of this and more. Thank you!
