2021 CBT

Community

Initiatives

Grants:

The Regional District of

Central Kootenay (RDCK)

is now accepting grant

applications for the Columbia

Basin Trust (CBT)

Community Initiatives and

Affected Areas Program

(CIP/AAP).

The programs support

local projects that provide

additional value to Basin

communities and that benefit

the broad community

and public good. The CIP/

AAP are intended to be

flexible and incorporate

community-based funding

decisions. Program funds

are distributed annually to

the Trust’s regional government

and indigenous partners,

including the RDCK.

Last year, 345 applications

were received, of

which 315 were approved.

The majority of projects

that received funding were

supporting cultural, social,

environmental and economic

projects.

The granting allocation

for the RDCK for 2021-

2022 is $1,486,212.

“This year more then

ever, we know our communities

and the non-profit

societies that do astounding

work for their benefit

are in need,” said Aimee

Watson, chair, RDCK

board of directors. “There

is much to recover, much

to plan anew, and much to

be inspired by. The RDCK

is grateful for the ongoing

community support CBT

provides through its myriad

of programs and specifically,

the ability for the

community to participate

in the engagement process

that the CIP and AAP program

requires. We wish all

applicants well and thank

you for your continued

efforts and support of our

shared communities.”

To find more information

about the Columbia Basin

Trust CIP/AAP, including,

who is eligible and how to

apply, go to https://tinyurl.

for application is February

Drive-through

COVID-19 testing

available in Trail

The COVID-19 test collection centre in

Trail moved to a new location thanks to a

partnership between Interior Health and

ICBC.

At the new site, testing services will be provided

in the drive-through tunnel at the ICBC

Trail Claim Centre at 2985 Highway Drive.

The drive-through will be completely separate

from ICBC’s daily operations. The site will be

open daily from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm.

“We are very pleased to be able to work

with and help Interior Health provide critical

COVID-19 services in our communities

during this pandemic,” said Nicolas Jimenez,

president and CEO of ICBC. “We will continue

to do all we can to help health authorities

in communities across BC”

People can find more information about

Interior Health COVID-19 Community Collection

Centres by visiting Interior Health’s

Testing Information page: https://news.interiorhealth.ca/news/testing-information/

Booking a test:

Online: You can book an appointment

online through the COVID-19 Test Booking

Form: https://interiorhealthcovid.secureform.ca/index.php

By phone: Call the COVID-19 Test Booking

Line at 1-877-740-7747 for assistance with

booking your test.

Testing is available for people with new or

worsening COVID-19 symptoms. Seek a test

immediately if you have one or more of these

key symptoms:

• Fever and chills

• Cough

• Loss of sense of taste or smell

• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Seek a test if you have two or more of the

following symptoms for more than 24 hours,

and they are not related to any other pre-existing

conditions:

• Sore throat

• Loss of appetite

• Extreme fatigue or tiredness

• Headache

• Body aches (muscles and joints aching)

• Nausea or vomiting

• Diarrhea

Testing is available for those who have been

in contact with someone who has tested positive

for COVID-19 and have any COVID-19

symptoms, as well as for those who have been

sent for testing by a physician, nurse practitioner,

or public health. Testing is not recommended

for individuals who do not have

symptoms.

Everyone in all communities should remain

vigilant in following COVID-19 precautions:

Keep to your household bubbles and avoid

social gatherings. Stay home when you are

sick and get tested if you have any symptoms

consistent with COVID-19. Practise physical

distancing. Wear a mask in indoor public

spaces. Wash your hands often.

RDKB Board Highlights

A general overview of discussion items &

major decisions from the Regional District of

Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) Board of Directors

meetings in November and December 2020.

The next board meeting is January 13, 2020 at

1 pm on Zoom.

Red Earth Medicine receives grant

The RDKB has granted $1,825.00 to Red Earth

Medicine near Westbridge for a program that

combines an outdoor snowshoe activity with

weekly two-hour snowshoe treks, an invitation

for each participant to trek in their own neighbourhood,

or a video of exercises that can often

be done outside

Snowy Medicine Trails is a Zoom-based

program that provides various medicine teachings

and a platform for participants to share

their experiences, learn about plants, and to

gather their own medicines from their own land.

Both programs encourage physical activity and

sharing their experience of being on the land or

in movement.

Bridesville Community Club to upgrade

community hall and baseball park

The Board approved an application by the

Bridesville Community Club for $25,085.56

SUDOKU

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid,

broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve

a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill

each row, column and box. Each number

can appear only once in each row, column

and box. You can fi gure out the order in

which the numbers will appear by using the

numeric clues already provided in the boxes.

The more numbers you name, the easier it

gets to solve the puzzle!
