Well, first off I want to wish each and everyone of you a fantastic 2021 

and sending you wishes for great health and happiness. 

2020 was a wild year for everyone, but I believe we learned a lot about 

ourselves, stepped out and learned more things and pivoted our 

businesses in many directions by trying things new and adding new 

things and I commend all of you for that. 

GSFE also had to make many changes, we had some live and some 

zoom meetings and now we are back to all zoom meetings for the 

month of January and will need at the end of the month to see where 

things are to see if any can come back to live and if not we will 

continue on zoom. The disappointing part is that many are not jumping 

on zoom, I hear things like I hate zoom, I don’t know how to do zoom 

etc., those are only excuses as if you tried it you might really like it as 

you don’t have to drive anywhere and you still get to promote what 

you do, ask for what you need, hear a great speaker and see your 

GSFE sisters, that to me sounds like a win, also for those that say they 

don’t know how really all they have to do is ASK as we have lots of our 

members who are really good at it and would be willing to teach you 

so stop making excuses and just make the commitment to support 

the networks. The directors have worked hard on the 2021 lineup of 

speakers for 2021 and each one is amazing and you will walk away with 

some great knowledge and all for a $10.00 meeting fee investment. I 

too am a people person and prefer live but I also care about each of 

you and it fills my hear when I see your face on a zoom call. So how 

about adding to your things to do for 2021 a commitment to at least 

join one meeting a month so we can see your beautiful face and 

hear your voice and learn about what you are doing. Also know this 

monthly magazine is for all our members, so read it and if you have 

something you want us to add just let us know, you can create a flyer 

on something you are offering, or a book launch or ???? and we will add

it free of charge. If you need a flyer developed Marcy Decato who does all 

our flyers has a special price for all the GSFE members so give her a call at 

951-707-6336 she and Gigi Banks who own Creative Solutions Marketing do 

all our flyers, printing, they even just made us a new GSFE tablecloth and 

new pull up sign, they are very talented and can do everything. 

Also now that you have lots of time at home you should be thinking of 

writing your book, we have several members that can assist you with the 

writing and publishing of your book, remember everyone has a book in 

them. So contact either Angela Covany 1-951-249-6831, Lori Raupe 1-619-

and ask them about their services and work with the one that best fits 

your need. Also Angela Covany and Marcy Decato can also help you with 

designing your cover. Another excuse I hear is I don’t know how to write 

well you can talk it into a recorder and have someone translate it. For every 

excuse there is a way to complete the task you just have to be open and 

look for it. 

I was thrilled to see Joan Wakeland and Angeline Benjamin launch their 

books, and Angeline did exactly what I said she recorded her story and then 

it was transcribed into a book.

I am super excited that our GSFE Book “it’s All About Showing Up and the 

Power is in the ASKING” with 45 co-authors is launching January 18th at 

10:00 am on facebook, you will be able to purchase your ebook for a special 

price of $1.00 from Amazon and our publisher to help us make it a best US 

and International seller so we can add those logos on the book cover and 

print the book, Watch for more information but I will be live on facebook at 

10:00 am January 18th for one hour and I need all your support. Our profits 

from the book will stay in GSFE to continue our work with women. Here is 

the cover and you will note on the back of the book the names of all the coauthors 

all GSFE members who are in the book.

Also Ada Gartenmann in London England who does the “ She Inspires me” 

International Awards wrote a book with 47 co- authors which launched in 

December 2020 and several of our GSFE members were able to be in the 

book, they are Chebra Dorcy (OCHEA), Virginia Earl, 

I was excited to see all the new books and I hope that in 2021 I see more as 

each of you have a story to tell so lets get that book done. 

It’s also been a sad time for GSFE with members being sick and losing 

members and members losing their mothers, we send our prayers to all and 

want them to know we are here for them. 

It was so sad to hear that Dame Shellie Hunt just lost her mom, 

she and her daughter were with her when she passed, they were a 

very close family and her mom was great, sending her prayers and 

our condolences during this difficult time. Shellie is a very long 

time friend and the CEO Founder of The Women of Global Change 

as well as a member of the South Orange County GSFE network 

and every year has also been one of our sponsors for the GSFE 

Conference. 

So sad to learn of the death of Dr. Barbara Young a member of the 

Menifee GSFE she was an amazing woman who was a mentor to many, she was also an 

International Speaker, Author and Television host and always there to touch a life. 

Here is some information about the memorial celebration:

On Sat., January 9th, Carl Wilson of CD Wilson Events 

crowned 5 GSFE members for their work in their 

communities and with GSFE in addition to each getting 

their own unique crown they also all received 

jewelry and a sample of CDWilson’s perfume called 

“Success“ 

The event was held at Robbie’s house and the women 

in alpha order getting their crowns were

The girls all dressed up for the occasion and had an 

afternoon of great food, wine and friendship and all

In The Spotlight

Light the Path for Someone’s Journey 

Many view networking as a means to find a new job, a prospect for new customers, 

or to grow their network for down the road; of course, this isn’t true for everyone, 

especially for me. I view networking as a means to share my knowledge, what I have 

learned along the way, but most of all, I love helping others; it is what gives me the 

greatest joy in my life. And if you read on there is a woman who lit my path during 

my journey and she can light your path too! 

Many things make me happy, but if you asked me, “Lauren, what makes you the happiest?” The answer is simple 

when I help someone, make them smile, or do something without expecting anything in return, isn’t that what 

networking is all about? 

My husband asks me all the time, why do you help strangers, you have so many things on your plate, 

simple--God gave me many gifts so I believe in sharing my gifts with others. We have all been there, there is a 

company-wide email about a significant downsizing at work, or your boss leaves the company, so the writing is on 

the wall; better get networking. While yes, this may be true, but honestly, shouldn’t we all be networking every day 

to help others--I say Yes. 

Now, for why I decided to write this article. When I lived in Florida, I worked 

for Office Depot. I later became their agency for special events, corporate 

philanthropy and started a PR division for the JKG Group (no longer in business). 

But my favorite project was leading public relations for an amazing women’s 

conference Success Strategies, (which ended in 2007), whereby I was able to 

draw 50+ reporters on-site every year (remember the days when media actually 

attended an event, and you had face-to-face interaction, I actually enjoyed those 

days). Leading PR for the conference was genuinely a fantastic experience. I met some amazing iconic women 

business leaders, both CEOs who led companies, women entrepreneurs who became iconic CEOs like Sara Blakely, 

and many more. However, one woman, Robbie Motter, I met in 2006--altered my life. 

Robbie was the recipient of Office Depot’s Businesswoman of the Year award on 

behalf of the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE). So how did Robbie 

alter my life? Well, at the conference in 2006, I just really “clicked with her” she was just 

a beacon of positivity and energy. She encouraged me to start my own PR consulting 

business and due to some personal reasons, I decided I needed to relocate back to 

the northeast. However, I wondered how can I leave my job and pack up; well, I did, 

and Robbie was instrumental in kick-starting my consulting business. 

She gave me the courage and start my own business, LG Connections. I led some 

projects for Office Depot, but then Robbie recommended me to organize, structure 

the agenda ad lead public relations for NAFE’s regional conference in California (and 

not too shabby, the conference was at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel.)

Shortly after I completed the project in early 2007, I realized that being an entrepreneur wasn’t for me; while I 

am glad I did it, I needed a steady stream of income and health benefits, but I dared to do it because of Robbie. 

So I started interviewing and landed a PR agency job in NYC, and two months later, I met my husband, John. 

Coincidence, I think not! I sometimes look back and think had I not met Robbie or had the courage, I probably never 

would have met my husband, the stars were aligned. 

To this day, Robbie is a dear and personal friend! Robbie’s favorite motto, “Just show up!” And Robbie not only shows 

up every day in the lives of so many women she makes others want to “show up.” 

So flash forward to now, Robbie started her own non-profit women’s networking group, 

Global Society for Female Entrepreneurs (GFSE). I joined in late 2020, why did I join? It was a no 

brainer; I wanted to support Robbie, but I also wanted to see if I could help some of the members. 

There are so many opportunities to connect with women across the U.S., virtual events, fun 

Zoom sessions, business growth opportunities and meeting new women you may otherwise 

not have the chance to connect with; it’s truly an organization focused on authentically 

supporting women. 

So in the words of my friend Robbie, just show up, whether or not you check out GFSE and decide to 

join-- be present in someone’s life, help them make a connection--mentor someone. In today’s challenging 

economic environment, small businesses are struggling, and in my humble opinion, they are the lifeblood 

of the American economy.

Release... Refresh and Reboot 

Welcome to 2021 and new member Cynthia Nemelka. Let’s Release the Baggages of the past 

years! We all have made mistakes and made wrong turns as we journey through the path of life. 

I invite you to reflect on what happened for a brief moment, then give yourself permission to 

move from the quagmires of the pit called failure! Learn from these past failures or mistakes ! 

Don’t relive them! Be Resilient, Focus on what went well! 

The New Year provides another opportunity to reset that pause button that the Pandemic placed 

on us. Let’s use the lockdown time to refresh our mind, body and soul. Let’s reboot that computer 

of ours, relaunch our business, and we may have to redefine ourselves as we change our Mindset. 

The Online Success Highway is ready and waiting for us. It is time to Rev. Up our engines and 

let the rubber hit the road.

December was an interesting month. We planned to hold an in-person meeting at The Links of 

Summerly and celebrate the Holiday season. Instead, CoronaVirus raised it’s ugly head again 

and we had to can-cel. We even had a singer who was going to entertain us.. All meetings will 

again be held on Zoom till future notice. 

Exciting events in late November for our Members. 

Sandie Fuenty, Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay, picked up her 2021 Silver Ice Mary Kay 

Mali-bu. Because of Covid there was no party, but the dealership did put a beautiful bow on 

the car. She was able to pick up the car without signing anything, just showed her ID, and they 

instructed her on how to use it and paired her phone. Congratulations, Sandie.

Normally Menifee meets live but with the new pandemic we are meeting 

live in January and then will see what happens at end of month of what 

February will look like (live or zoom again) 

Our Speaker is Marcy Decato and the topic is “Marketing Planning for 

2021” Mernas where we meet has been closed. 

We all were so sad to learn of the death of Menifee GSFE member Dr. 

Barbara Young, a dynamic woman who was an author, international 

speaker and mentor to many she was 82 years old and had Cancer. 

We are all still in shock, her life touched many all over the Globe. 

Our fantastic former Menifee co-director Angeline Benjamin is on her 

way to Queen Creek, AZ to her new home. I am thrilled that she is still 

going to be one of our directors of our Zoom technology lunch meeting 

directors and later also plans to start a live Arizona meeting. 

Menifee GSFE members who are part of the 45 co-authors in my book 

“It’s All about SHOWING UP and the Power is in the ASKING” are:

book is launching on January 22 at 10:00 am on facebook live. 

Remember Each month Marcy Decato adds all the months meeting 

flyers in one location so the members can go there and see the flyers

where those flyers are put each month. As a member you can attend 

more than just your network monthly meetings and attending others will 

allow you to meet other GSFE sisters and share what you do with others, 

so give it some consideration all that we ask is that you RSVP and pay the 

meeting fee so the Director has an idea of how many are “Showing Up.”

I don’t even know where to begin at this new beginning... on one hand, I’m sooooo glad 2020 

is over... on the other, here comes 2021... and I honestly don’t know how I feel about it yet. Like 

many, I had to make some changes and tough decisions last year. 

My first decision of 2021 was choosing my “word(s) of the year”: PASSION and CHANGE. Even 

amid the challenges, I am doing my best to stay positive and hopeful. I’m rediscovering what I’m 

passionate about and being reminded that change doesn’t equal “bad”. 

My next decisions are as follows: 

• Good Ol’ Gals is NOT closing its doors! Having built an incredible organization that has 

evolved into “the most fun women can have doing business” AND celebrating 13 years in 

December, we WILL continue to provide a platform for female entrepreneurs/business owners 

to connect on both personal and professional level. 

• The GOG Gala, which was to be held at the end of January, must be once again postponed 

until later in 2021. Be sure you are on the GOGs email list and stay tuned for more to come 

• Jordan & Jordan Marketing is still OPEN FOR BUSINESS and will continue to provide expert 

marketing services including a revival of the Marketing Mastery Interactive Workshops If

Do you have great expectations for this year? Are you ready to do something different than 

what you have been doing since the results were not what you wanted! Are you ready to 

change? Are you ready to commit the time to improve yourself and your business? 

If you answered yes to any of these questions then you probably will need a mentor or an accountability 

partner! 

You may have to pay someone to advise you or guide you! You can barter, You may even find 

someone to sponsor you. However one thing is certain, you will have to do the work to gain 

the results you desire. You will never lose weight if you pay someone to do your actual pushups 

for you. Would you? Sounds Crazy, agree, you would not even think about throwing away 

your hard earned money that way! Yet, there are individuals who would expect Mentors or 

Coaches to do it for them! 

You can find someone in the GSFE who can collaborate with you, you are not alone, but you 

have to reach out and ask for help. 

You will have to Prioritize and Commit to the new Goals for this year. 

You will achieve your goals when you set realistic ones with time boundaries! I urge you to do 

it now if you have not done so already. 

I hope we will all experience more happiness, more peace, more love and better finances as we 

continue on our journey through 2021!

GSFE sisters are we were preparing to bring 2020 to an end 

We took some time to reflect on the things that we learned about ourselves and our 

business throughout 2020. We also made sure that we were highly tuned in for the work, 

expectation and great things that we are preparing to do for 2021. While the shutdown 

order kept us from celebrating in traditional ways we took solace in making sure that we

Because of the pandemic Temecula was unable to meet live this month so 

we held a zoom meeting and 14 people were on the call including one of 

our new members of the et Hollywood GSFE network Emily Warnock al 

the way from Midlothian, Virginia. It was great to see her on the call and 

to meet her and to hear what she does and that she also was a mother 

with young children. 

What’s great about GSFE is that you can belong to one network and pop 

into others each month where you get to meet others you did not know 

and also can share what you do and need with a whole new group of 

dynamic women. She also will soon be a guest on my radio show. 

Each month Marcy Decato adds all the months meeting flyers in one 

location so the members can go there and see the flyers for each 

meeting and decide those they want to attend here is the link where 

those flyers are put each month.

each a great book called “Write Your Own Book” by GSFE member

If you’re a sales manager, you have an obligation to keep your sales team connected. 

This can be difficult to do with quarantine laws in place. But it’s definitely not 

impossible. Here are a few ideas you could try to help bring your staff together. 

• Virtual Happy Hour: Gather your entire team together via Zoom, Skype, or any 

other video conferencing tool and shoot the breeze. Encourage your team to bring 

a choice beverage to the meet up too, which will give you all something to talk 

about. 

• Team Movie Night: Your entire team is watching an inordinate amount of Netflix 

right now. Use this to your advantage and plan a team movie night with Netflix 

Party, an app that syncs playback across multiple Netflix accounts and will allow 

your entire sales team to interact with each other during the show via an in-app 

chat box. 

• Digital Scavenger Hunt: Digital scavenger hunts are growing in popularity because 

they’re a ton of fun. Create a list of things for your employees to find, either in their 

homes or online. Then split them into teams and see who can find them all first. 

It’s important to keep your team together and facilitate camaraderie during the 

COVID-19 pandemic. But it’s also important for you to connect with each of your 

employees individually. Be sure to host one-on-one meetings from time to time with 

your team, too.

The Reality Rally Board discussed the possibility of holding our 2021 Reality Rally event this year at 

our meeting last night. 

We made a unanimous decision to postpone until 2022. 

The ongoing spread of the virus and concerns for the health and safety of everyone who would be 

involved was foremost in our decision. 

We wanted to let everyone know right away as you would now be making your plans to be 

involved and participate in some way.

Facebook just announced yet another change: 

New Pages Experience. And, it’s time to say goodbye to Page LIKES. This is a good thing 

(mostly)! 

There has long been confusion around having both LIKES and FOLLOWS on our business 

Pages. So, thankfully, Facebook is finally making it more clear. 

A person can like your Page, BUT choose to unfollow it. Which means that person would not 

see your content at all in their news feed. 

Followers are much more likely to see your content in their news feed. And, follower count 

has long been a better ‘signal,’ as Facebook calls it, of the total number of people who would 

like to see your Page’s posts in their feed. (Alas, organic reach is so low these days that only a 

small percent of followers actually see Page posts, anyway). 

Switching to the New Pages Experience is optional (for now), and is only available to some 

pages, so far. To find out what happens when you do make the switch, join the discussion and

Facebook’s New Pages Experience update also includes a number of other new features, such 

as: 

• A redesigned layout that’s simpler and more intuitive (according to Facebook, haha!) 

• A dedicated News Feed (which is already there on Classic Pages, but this new feed is “to 

discover and join conversations, follow trends, interact with peers and engage with fans” 

... and, what’s the guesses we’ll start seeing ADS in this new News Feed sooner or later?

seeing if it has a place at all in my own overall social marketing and networking strategy.

Ok, 2020 what happened? 

This may sound odd, but it was literally one of the best years of my life. 

However, it was overshadowed by all those who suffered during the 

pandemic & struggled financially! My heart is still breaking for those 

who have lost loved ones and are still recuperating. 

Just last weekend I lost a dear friend to Covid! This loss has given me 

even more motivation to help people live their best life as she did. She 

was such a light of joy, and she inspired me the way she overcame so 

many challenges in her life. 

For me 2020 started out with a bang, just like you, I bet! I had so much 

motivation that it was hard for me to contain! 

My word for the year was “Clarity,” get it 20-20, seeing clearly, I know, it wasn’t original. My goal was to 

learn how to market my business better.

YIKES, I did some Zoom meetings and started writing books to help others. I helped 13 women 

become best-selling authors and also did another book of my own, making it a #1 International Best

Definitely awesome…in spite of the hardship at the beginning of the year I was still able to give to some 

worthy causes like Helping Hands Orphanage. People gave me money for my birthday fundraiser for the 

trip, so I thought, “I can’t go, but I can send a gift.” 

Many of my mentors took charge and started adding value in the Covid Storm. I followed their example. 

One thing I loved doing was reading John Maxwell’s book, “Sometimes Your Win Sometimes You Lose,” for 

a large group of kids in celebration of The Global Youth Initiative! Always one of my most favorite events! 

FAITH OVER FEAR became the theme.
