A Man of True Steel
It is 150 years since the man was born. It is more than 70 years since he stopped three bullets in their track and breathed his last with the name of Rama on
his lips.
Why does this old, old man engage us, even today? Not just us, the whole world, in fact. What made this non-descript Gujjubhai from Porbandar go off to
England in the late 19th century to study law and then move to the apartheid-torn South Africa to begin his legal practise?
The story of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi continues to fascinate us as different aspects of his personality, the way he thought and worked, are revealed
through his writings and through the writing of others on the man. The vision he had for India, nay mankind actually, is reinforced time and again – that nonviolence
is the only way forward, as is the brotherhood of Man, and respect for all living beings on earth. His belief that ‘Nature has enough for Man’s need
but not for Man’s greed’ is the most succinct and practical response to the mess with the environment that the world has got itself in.
This year, NISV has concentrated on the very relevant teachings of our Father of the Nation. I think we could not have chosen a better theme to ground our
students in this strange year that has taken everyone by an unpleasant surprise, a surprise that continues even today.

th
The academic year 2019-20 was dedicated to celebrate the life and times of the Father of the Nation on the occasion of the Mahatma's 150 birth
anniversary. This was an opportune moment for the school to reflect on his life, the freedom struggle and his “experiments with truth”. The school thus
embarked on a journey of discovering the Mahatma. During the year, various activities like quizzes, plays and debates facilitated a deeper understanding of
the meaning of freedom, non-violence, truth, cleanliness and untouchability. This culminated in the staging of a biopic “Mohandas to the Mahatma”
scripted, directed, enacted and produced by the staff and over a 1000 students during the Annual Concert. The standing ovation by the audience at the end
of the concert was not only a recognition and acknowledgement of the stellar performance of the students but also a tribute to the Mahatma and the
relevance and sway he still holds in our lives.
The words of the Mahatma, “Be the change you want to see…” took all the more significance and reverberated more so as we were ending the academic
year. With the pandemic throwing all our lives out of gear, the new normal required each member of the school community to adapt and embrace the many
changes beckoning us. We all had to, inter alia, make those sometimes drastic and dramatic changes in lifestyle, attitudes, thinking, learning and being, not
only for our own survival and growth but also for the sake of humankind. The onus of changing had to start with each one of us first. And so despite the
doom and gloom around, we ended the academic year on a high note. Although we missed one of the most important events of our academic calendar, the
experiential learning opportunity through the “NISV Outbound” that took us to different parts of our country, we quickly took things in our stride and
positively adapted to the virtual learning environment and ensured that learning at NISV never stopped.
Our Board examination results were outstanding for 2019-20. In the International curriculum section we had one of our students scoring the first ever
perfect 45/45 score in the Diploma programme and another student being declared the All India Topper in Coordinated Sciences in the IGCSE examinations.
In the National curriculum section, one of our students scored 98% in Gr.12 CBSE AISSCE and another scored 98.6% in the Gr. 10 CBSE AISSE. The Year Book
acknowledges these high standards set by our students across the different curricula offered and celebrates the learning footprint of each and every
student in the school.
I would also like to acknowledge and commend the Year Book team for weaving every page of this Yearbook so creatively, painstakingly and meticulously.
To the students of NISV whose faces dot every page, let the words of the Mahatma that also find an echo in our school song “ …the world is out there
waiting for someone to make a change…” spur us on to stay positive and grasp the opportunities for change the pandemic has presented to us.

NAVRACHANA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, VADODARA
Another wonderful year passes by, leaving its trails of reminiscences and joy,
giving students new wings to fly, and reach their potential, oh so high!
It is rather true when they say that the beautiful experiences of the past can never be revived;
however they can always be relived, bringing about those wishful smiles and nostalgic
recollections. The yearbook of 2019-2020 encapsulates the ideas of self-development, expression
and growth that NISV encourages its students to inculcate; through a collection of delightful
snippets brought together for all those, “a- trip -down –the- memory -lane” moments. With the
promise of upholding our school motto and thereby educating, enlightening and empowering our
community, it has been gratifying to witness our students, teachers and educators metamorphose
into better versions of themselves and grow from the challenges this year end has delivered. From
preparing an ode to the Father of our Nation through enchanting skits and vibrant colors as part of
our annual concert to staging our traditional NISV funfair games and dances, we have left no stone
unturned in showcasing what a united community and determined mindset can do. The editorial
team hence wishes to bring to you these wistful reminiscences to remind us of our triumphs and
prepare us for the upcoming year full of exhilaration and elation! After all, “memories are simply
moments that refuse to be ordinary”.

A
MESSAGE
FROM
THE PTA
This year we all have undergone a life changing experience due to COVID-19. Since the Spanish Flu of
1918, the world has not seen a pandemic of this scale. With no medicine or vaccine to stop the spread of
the virus the government was quick in locking down the country due to which the school had to shut
prematurely before the summer vacation. Rather than curtail the education for the term, NISV rose to the
challenge and was the 1st in Vadodara to start online learning for all grades via Google Classroom.
The use of electronic devices for daily schoolwork was already on the rise for the last years but with the
advent of mass online learning it has now become a necessity and a saviour for our children’s
uninterrupted formal education.
We, the PTA executive committee members on behalf of all the school children's parents appreciate the
school and in particular the teachers for actively engaging and teaching our kids during this trying time by
prioritising teaching from their home over their own personal responsibility towards their families.

epitomizes the IBDP Team of NISV.
The year began on a high note
with good IBDP 2019 Results, with
Pranshu and Kairav leading with
42 points out of 45, followed by
Vivan Patel with 41 points. Well
done students! Well done
teachers!
The diligent work by IBDP students
in organizing NIMUN 9, Teachers'
Day Celebration, the school Fun
Fair "LUMIЀRES DU MONDE" to
name a few, is worth mentioning.
This academic year, 5 students
escorted by Ms. Pooja Paliwal,
went to the International School
of the Stockholm Region (ISSR)
Sweden, under the student
exchange programme. This trip
was reciprocated by 5 students
and 2 teachers from ISSR visiting
NISV in January 2020. This year,
the students from ISSR stayed with
the host families. This partnership
has motivated us to make a lasting
and positive contribution to the
enrichment of both!
T h e y e a r 2 0 1 9 - 2 0 w a s a
momentous year. The IGCSE
results were a testimony to the
dedication of the students and the
relentless efforts of the teachers.
E- Learning through tablets gained
momentum and was accelerated
by the teachers' efforts in
introducing the teaching- learning
process in innovative ways.
The students' engagement with
various disciplines through inter -
school competitions and interdisciplinary
activities like Book
Reading Day, MYP Conclave and
Food Festival, gave them the
much-needed impetus to hone
their ATL skills.
MYP teachers from all the
disciplines attended the Job-Alike
MYP workshop at Mumbai. These
interactive sessions empowered
the teachers to further enhance
their teaching -learning practices.
The academic year 2019-20 was
an eventful year and went by in a
jiffy. The students were engaged
in new and exciting ways of
learning and took part in many fun
activities, right from exploring the
school for the early year students
to pop up bazaar, fancy dress,
group dance and salad making.
Our PYP teachers honed their skills
by brain-storming the new PYP
documents together.
The pandemic caught us unawares
and we had to move out of our
comfort zones and learn new skills
to conduct lessons virtually. We
managed to organise the PYP
Grade 5 exhibition virtually, which
was a fantastic display of research,
interviews, Ted talks, and
advertisements by the students
on the topic “Media and Us”. Our
Pre- Primary concert “Namaste
India” & the Senior Concert
“Mohandas to Mahatma” were
hugely appreciated.
I would like to extend my sincere
thanks to all the parents for their
whole-hearted support.
Another successful year is what I
conclude as I reflect upon all the
wonderful activities and learning
experiences our PYP students
were engaged in, during the
academic year 2019-20. Our new
batch of nursery students
adjusted in no time in their new
classrooms and got comfortable
with their teachers and peers. The
year was packed, as we always had
something to look forward to, in
both PYP and the Pre- Primary

all our wonderful teachers who
are always upgrading themselves
and providing diverse and

conducted with perfection, be it
the cooking experience, treasure

more!! There was always a spirit of
enthusiasm and the students
enjoyed every moment of their

the academic year was our Pre-

executed by our little ones.

'Every child deserves to be the best of
what he /she is'
School is that integral part of society
which is an instrument of achieving this
goal. The goal of education at NISV is to
'Educate, Enlighten and Empower'- such
learning and values that will benefit
society and the workplace with the
presence of these individuals.
NISV endeavors to augment the
personality of each child and bring out
their inherent qualities through years of
schooling which include varied activities
as sports, dance and music, arts, , annual
concerts , student council and funfair
which aid in the discovery of such
talents.
It gives me immense pride to share that
the students of NISV CBSE have emerged
victorious in the grade 10 CBSE board
examination for the academic year
2019-2020. We had the highest overall
percentage the school has seen ( 98.6
%). We also had 5 students scoring a
perfect 100 in 3 different subjects. Kudos
to all my colleagues for making the
school proud .
To the students, I convey this message:

“Learning is not the product of
teaching. Learning is the product
of the activity of learners” - John
Holt
The goal of 21st Century
education is to create life-long
learners. Fixed procedures for
teaching are insufficient because
learning is not a one-way process.
Our focus is the learner-and
learning-centered practices that
cater to the diversity, as well as the
unique talents of each student.
Through various curricular and cocurricular
activities throughout
the year, we tried to ensure that
students were engaged in
productive and meaningful
activities that helped them strive
towards independent learning
and academic success.
Ritika Nagpal

The year 2019-20 was eventful
and engaging. The objective was
to provide all necessary care and
impart knowledge to the young
minds. Catering to their cognitive,
linguistic, physical, social and
emotional development was
paramount. The year's focus
areas were group behaviour and
self-discipline and for the same
reason, introducing them to
meditation, circle time and
happiness classes proved to be
advantageous. I wish this
enthusiastic lot of students a
happy and healthy life ahead.

our commitment with Seqrite

while in school and at home.
The coming year is going to see
the birth of a more streamlined

contribution of our Staff, who
rose to the occasion and
prepared, learnt and trained
others in the use of online
platforms that have proven to
be a lifeline during these
unprecedented times.
In the year 2019-20 our aim was to
encourage a healthy and active
lifestyle throughout the school
body, nurture sportsmanship in all
aspects of competition, widen
e a c h s t u d e n t ' s s p o r t i n g
experience and enjoyment and
create a passion for active
recreation and sport. It gives me
immense satisfaction to have
achieved this. It was also gratifying
to see students develop their
competence and confidence as
they developed a wide range of
skills to use tactics, strategies and
compositional ideas to perform
successfully.
This year we witnessed a long
monsoon with heavy downpours
and their associated problems but
the Department rose to the
challenge and ensured the
smooth functioning of the school.
On one such occasion, a staff
member monitored the safety of
the students until late at night and
stayed on until the last student
was dropped home safely.
Commendable, indeed!
The Department played its role in
ensuring the smooth functioning
of the school.

Sometimes the pathway dictates that the process comes down to hard work, rather than inspiration, but teaching is all about the rapport between a teacher

Teaching English language, after all, is about a fruitful engagement in getting children to conceptualize, understand, relate, connect and apply their
language abilities in the spoken and written context relevant to the need of the hour.
Our team of English teachers have been facilitating and guiding students for all IHAs, State level and National Level competitions which include debates,

“The Only way to learn Mathematics is to do Mathematics"
This year's focus has been on Mathematical knowledge taking the center stage in the regular school curriculum. To instil
analytical and logical thinking among students and to promote Mathematical thought as an important area of human
thought, various subject- enrichment activities are being designed. Also, to add to the creation and creativity of the
students, the Department of Mathematics conducts many engaging and interesting activities through the year. And in the
same light, for the fifth consecutive year we conducted the Virtual Mathmania: an inter- school math- based quiz
competition. Although a challenging event for the entire Math Department, like every year, it turned out to be a huge
success. The enthusiasm and excitement of the participants make the hard work worth it. The new feature added to
Mathmania this year was the short videos made by students explaining the presence of Mathematics all around us. The
spectrum of rounds during the competition provided a platform to the students to exhibit their mathematical abilities,
computational fluency, analytical thinking and quantitative aptitude. Thus, in this manner the Department aims to pursue
excellence in Mathematics through engaging our students not only in the classrooms but also beyond it. We are achieving
our objectives with the help of significantly experienced faculties. The team work of the Department is highly appreciated.
Another noteworthy achievement this year has been the excellent performance of 5 students of grade 10 scoring 100% in
Mathematics in the CBSE board examinations in the academic year 2019-2020. Kudos to the students and teachers!

Success lined with highs and lows marked the academic journey. We lost a very important member, Mr. Piyush Patel, whose
contribution towards the smooth functioning of all the labs was commendable. May his soul rest in peace. The laboratory
was revamped and an impressive team spirit was brought to light with the teachers surpassing expectations. High end
designing of projects such as verifying Doppler Effect, creating of Mesocosm, a variety of irrigation systems and high end
chemistry projects took place in the labs. Students from the PYP to the DP breezed in and out of the labs for demonstrations
and hands- on learning. The link between theory and practical was visibly narrowed as students were able to learn concepts
in the sciences.
Equipped with new tools like PhET simulations, Ptable.com and Flipgrid, the science teachers began the virtual classroom
with enthusiasm and dedication.
The crowning glory was Dr. Ritu Shukla being selected as a Biology Workshop leader for the IBDP. Keep up the scientific

techniques place a greater emphasis on pedagogy and classroom practice as another way to improve science, technology,

The year 2019-20 saw the group being involved in a lot of activities. Class activities like model making, Group
Presentations etc. kept on happening like every year which help the students demonstrate their understanding of the
subject.
The Department led the MYP conclave along with the English department with years 1-3 presenting the Eco
Heroes(Sustainable ideas around school).
Grade 9 (MYP 4) put a pop up bazaar- Bake and Sale which was a runaway success with the eateries being sold out in no
time and the students demonstrated their financial and culinary skills under the guidance of their teacher Mr Keval Patel.
The IB students from grade 9-12 participated in an online trading competition organized by Wharton High School,
Wharton University of Pennsylvania and demonstrated their trading skills.
It was an extremely enriching experience for the students where they could buy and sell shares using virtual money and
competed with students from all over Asia.
The Teachers of Group 3 (Individuals and societies) Dr. Divya Chauhan,Ms Mellissa Fernandes and Ms Payal Kamanpure

Another action-packed year has come to an end. A year full of new challenges, experiences and achievements.
Congratulations must go to our students; without them our school would not be what it is. Throughout the year we have
watched them open their hearts and minds to the joy of learning, discover their strengths, develop their skills and
identify their passions. Whether it be Pitch Perfect business plan challenge, Jio Vichaar business model challenge or biz
quiz, our students have continually demonstrated and modelled our school values. Well done Kids! You should feel
extremely proud of all that you have accomplished.

The objective of the Department of Modern Languages is to prepare students to explore the target culture and to be
able to communicate effectively with the natives of the target culture in various situations. The Department focuses on
developing students' communication skills and inter-cultural understanding.
This has been a great year for the Modern Languages Department. Students exhibited their proficiency in the language
through participation in various programs. Nukkad Natak, poems and songs are always applauded. A German Theatre
group visited our school this year; artists performed a play and conducted a workshop for the students learning
German in our school. Another feather in the cap is our collaboration with a French school for a students' exchange
program.

The academic year 2019-20 has been yet another landmark year in the field of language education at NISV. Our
academic year's endeavor was to facilitate the Hindi language teaching-learning process more dynamic and make it an
engaging one. We have also made a very productive and effective use of digital learning aids to further enhance the
students's vocabulary building skills and language proficiency. Flip-classrooms have proved to be highly fruitful and
interesting for students. The Department of Hindi was thriving with activities like Hindi Super Speller, Hindi Diwas
celebrations, National and Cultural festival celebrations and class assemblies. Lastly, I appreciate my team of dynamic
and highly creative teachers for their relentless efforts and enthusiasm in making all the events a great success.

Our curriculum has now adopted some of the latest trends in technology. Last year the concepts of Artificial Intelligence
were deliberated upon by the teachers. This year, the teachers have included in their teaching process, this relevant topic
which is vital for the newer generations, as they will have to deal with this kind of technology just as we dealt with the
advancement of online resources. Our teachers have taken part in seminars and trainings on the topic. Our computer labs
have been equipped with some software that will provide the teachers and students with an environment to dive into AI.

The hostel children have enjoyed a homely atmosphere and learnt life skills and values through activities like Boarders' Personality Development, Best out

The boarders had several opportunities to mingle with their peers and enjoy an easy camaraderie that makes their boarding a memorable one.
In the absence of their families, their friends become their families, offering moral and emotional support, thus bolstering their well-being and fostering
their self-reliance.
It was heart-warming to see them build a relationship of unity and trust, extending a helping hand in case of difficulty. There were also moments threatening
to break into conflicts, but they were easily resolved and life at the hostels chugged along on well-oiled wheels!

bulletin boards to ensure that the school is NIMUN -ready, highlighting Gandhian
philosophy of life through a drama and dancing to the tunes of 'Un Poco Loco' during

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." – Helen Keller
House activities in school means working collaboratively towards a common goal.
The students were motivated to visualize “Impossible” as “I’M Possible”, so that they
would be productive and accomplish their tasks effectively and it was heartening to
see a sense of cohesion in them. As group members, they all exhibited openness,
trust and support and proved that together they could achieve anything; it only
required the willingness to contribute.

The academic year of 2019-20 saw the House of Venturers at its zenith. Together, the
students of this House displayed their creativity, zeal and confidence in every
competition. The abundance of athletic talent and the' go-getter' spirit led to the
victory of our House. After a ten year period of dormancy, winning the Overall

What an amazing year it's been! As we concluded another spectacular school year
at NISV, it's gratifying to look back at the year's accomplishments with pride and
think about the people & events that shaped our school experience. Many of our
kids used their ‘gift of imagination’ and realized they could do wonders if they
allowed themselves to dream. We had an exciting time teaching our kids .What's
more, they have grown as friends, communicators, teammates, and independent
thinkers.

They enjoyed the field trips and the activities that were planned for them and

“I don't' love studying. I hate studying. I like learning. Learning is beautiful.” These
words of Natalie Portman tell the truth about children. In today's digital world, we
are flooded with information but 'when and how' to use this knowledge is more
important. Children love to question 'When? Why? How?' and that's when the
learning begins. Their innate curiosity opens the doors to learning. This is a

Indeed it all began well - thirty four of them waiting to connect with their new
grade tutor, with endless questions arising in their little minds. I would like to put
it on record that the joy of discovering their potential in various areas of learnings
from co-curricular to extra curriculars was immense. From the classroom teaching
to IHA competitions, from Lit Bonanza to the Annual concert, from the assembly
practices to the fun fair, I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins. I
feel blessed to have had a class of talented pupils and a couple of “Jocund Idlers,”

High school .... the word was always a mixture of sweet and bitter, happiness and sorrow, pain and pleasure. Like everything in life, school
was a grey area and not a black and white picture. Being introduced to a new school is always a little challenging but at the same time, it's
also refreshing because you get to make a brand new image about yourself and no one can call you out on that. For me, the challenge was
heightened because of my awkward introverted behaviour. And I'll be lying if I said that sometimes I wished I was back at my old school.
But as I navigated through the hallways, I was determined to make a good impression. Looking back, i don't know if I achieved my goal but
I'll tell you this - it was a memorable journey.
Ishita Shah, IB , NISV
I always keep on asking myself on the real purpose of school, what good does it really do? Until now.
But now NISV has made me crystal clear on the real purpose of school as I see myself as the transformation, it not only provides
knowledge but also an insight into the social awareness to provide direction and energy for learning, the school has done it and teachers
have always provided me WATER whenever needed to reflect in myself as the BLOSSOM FLOWER.
School life was the Golden age,
It was like a treasure I found in a cage.
Kargi Chauhan, IB, NISV
When I initially took upon IB, ironically, I had felt more at ease with understading my subjects however as time went by, it started to
become increasingly difficult as I fully comprehended the distinguishable and eclectic nature of IB and the experience aided me in
gaining a perspective outside of the curated categories of science, commerce and humanities. It gave me a finite yet deep outlook on the
importance of applying the knowledge instead of simply acquring it.
Ashita Shah, IB, NISV
I can't believe it has been 16 years. I vaguely remember my first day in school, possibly the only day I cried because I had to go to school.
Like for any other student, the school has been a rollercoaster ride. NISV has molded me into the person I am right now. I will definitely
miss wasting my time in the libraries, the fun quarrels during Dipannita ma'am's lessons, and the group discussions with my classmates to
find loopholes in instructions! It is not that I have finished my school I realize how important NISV has been and how I will miss it.
Thankyou,
Paridhi Mistry, IB, NISV
Navrachana International School, Vadodara, a name I'm never going to forget! I joined the school 8 years ago, a clueless American kid
entering a new world where everything would change. However, the change came easily due to the constant nurturing by my teachers
and peers, which molded me into the young adult I am today!
From contending with CBSE for bragging rights, to evading Jyoti Ma'am on a daily basis for a new act of mischief – we've done it all. I've
made a set of irreplaceable friends throughout this journey who made my years at NISV unforgettable!
No doubt 2020 has been a year against us, but it has made us into stronger individuals ready to tackle the world! This year has shown me
that the Batch of 2020 will fight our way through the hard times and emerge victorious together! NISV has shown me the power of unity,
and I'm very grateful for the same!
Cheers!

IN RETROSPECT
The IBDP batch of 2020 is a crazy, dysfunctional family that defines the true meaning of unity in the good, the bad, and the worse. Be it the
funfair or the group 4 project, the entire class came together for every event with copious amounts of bickering, arguments, teasing and
healthy competition. I will miss Sunatcha's questions in Bio, Trushna ma'am's savage replies, all the early mornings spent in the English
hub before NIMUN, the boys vs girls bickering in Maths Studies- but most importantly, qualities I developed as an IB Learner that I will
cherish for life. I am immensely grateful for all the unique memories we made over the course of these two years. And I would not have it
any other way.
Aashna Pandya, IB, NISV
By far the last two years of my school life were such a bittersweet experience for me but as people say 'Tough times make you grow
stronger'; these experiences helped me overcome many of my fears and encouraged me to discover my strengths while giving me
numerous opportunities to explore myself further. The IB Diploma Programme was much more intense than I expected it to be, but
looking back, I don't regret choosing it. However, there were times when stage fear reached its peak as I had to speak in front of the entire
school in the assembly. Although it was extremely nerve-wracking for me at that time, it helped me to conquer my stage fear. Apart from
this, NISV taught me to be disciplined as well as the habit of helping others, especially in our IAs. Group 4 project taught me leadership
and collaborative skills. Working on my EE required a lot of hard work, but I was lucky enough to have Lily ma'am as my supervisor who
helped me academically as well as morally. She continually conveyed the message of self-belief, setting goals, and reaching those goals
without personal compromise which is one of the most important lessons I have learned in life. Moreover, I was not the most regular
student, but my teachers always seemed to believe in me that I can improve. Overall, NISV has provided me many opportunities, and
incidents which have taught me varied lessons. But looking back, all those memories, lessons, and mistakes have led me to become a
much better person today, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life.

Navrachana wasn't just a school it was a lifetime and my 15 years with it were my little infinity. They overflowed with memories of
laughter, successes, failures and the strong sense of belonging. Whether it be cheering for my house or laughing together on a class joke
or fighting over that last piece of paneer, I found my home and my people here. This school has given me so much and over the years i
have strived to give as much back. All this would be incomplete if not for my various teachers, one taught me fractions and the other life’s
lessons, but because of them I have become what I am today. I leave with my head held high with memories and the belief that i can do
anything and be anything I put my mind to. The home I have found here will forever be my happy place making me nostalgic when i think
of it.
Kashvi Shah, 12 A CBSE
They say the best things in life come unexpectedly and NISV was one of them. In 2015, when I first set foot in the vibrant corridors of the
school, little did I know over the next 5 years this place would become like a home away from home. NISV has made me grow, honed my
skills, provided me with the finest mentorship from the best teachers one could ask for and introduced me to peers who are now no less
than a family. It is extremely hard to encapsulate the truckload of memories NISV has given me, and as I make my way through the final
lap of this twelve year long marathon, all I could say is how grateful and lucky I consider myself to be. Through all the ups and downs,
happiness and sorrow, success and failure, my teachers stood as a pillar of strength and my friends lent a shoulder.
These days will forever be engraved in my heart and I wish to do my school proud someday.
Amolika Kumar, Grade 12 CBSE
Two years of 6 am wake ups, drowsy morning classes, and last minute dashes to class. Two years of friendships and fleeting attachments,
and the laughter and the pain and the joy that came with it. Two years of stress and anxiety, of all-nighters. On the whole, it's been one
heck of a journey, a journey that has moulded and shaped us all into the person we've become today, no matter how much we might not
wish to admit it.
It's hard to know what to expect when you first arrive in high school. My mind was bombarded with an endless swarm of nagging
questions. What if I find the classes difficult? What if I get lost and can't find my way around campus? What if I make no friends? What if
nobody likes me? It seems like it will just never end, and that the memories you take with you will only be the most major and principal
moments. As I've grown older, I've come to realize that time passes much quicker with every year, and that the days, months, and years
seem to pass before you can even register them happening. I keep wondering if I've done enough to make myself the best person I can, to
be kind and thoughtful to others, and if I've experienced everything I've wanted to .
And I know I won't remember everything that I did here, and that sometime down the road I'll eventually look at the faces of my
classmates in the Yearbook and forget their names, and that they'll do the same to me.
‘I wish there was a way to know that you're in “The Good Old days” before you've actually left them' – Andy, The Office
Harsha Jhamtani, 12 CBSE
I could fill out pages remembering the wonderful journey I had at NISV. Looking back at myself five years ago, I would've never imagined
such a shy and introverted girl to grow into something completely different. NISV provided a sense of belongingness and a feeling just like
home. The genuine support, love and care provided by my teachers and peers made me a strong individual. Throughout my life I have
shifted through more than 8 schools, but none have provided the nurturing and vibrant atmosphere that I have received here. It's not
everyday that you get to go to a school with amazing peers, tutors, mentors and the most comfortable uniforms on the planet, cherish
the moments you have. Thank you NISV for welcoming me warmly, challenging me when required, encouraging me towards my goals,
providing opportunities for me to grow and giving me so many memories, lessons and values that have shaped me into the person I am
today.

LIFE AT BOARDING
Boarders are more independent than other children of their age. They
perform all their tasks by themselves. They have to take care of their
belongings, and they find solutions to their problems by themselves. This
improves their decision-making quality.
Boarding school provides a better academic environment to the students than
the day scholars. They complete their homework at the allotted time. Besides,
in case of any difficulty they are able to advantage of their seniors and their
teachers.
Hostel life provides an environment of easy camaraderie. The Boarders live
together and interact with each other. When required, they help each other
and maintain a sense of brotherhood which is so unique to boarding life.

of this spectacular evening that offered scrumptious food, exciting games and a

CAS
Being an active participant in CAS has
ensured my holistic development and I see a
relatively exponential growth in areas such
as physical agility, connection with my
community and developing a new hobby.
CAS served as an outlet for me to explore my
hidden passion for cooking. Throughout my
long term experience I have learnt to cook
plenty of my favourite dishes and dabble
into dishes that I previously would have

CAS
I believe that the CAS activity is an excellent
method by which to create conscientious
students. Conscientious of their societies,
their environment and themselves. Without
a compulsory program like this one, the
limited time that an IB student does get
would potentially be wasted in leisurely
activities. In this way, the IB in ensuring a
future generation of extremely time-efficient
students. It is although through the CAS
program that I believe that students will
mature into responsible world citizens. I
learnt a lot about respect and gratitude and
my social skills exponentially grew. I am now
able to immerse into conversation with
anyone about a wide array of topics. I believe
that one of the most valuable elements of
performing CAS activities is their real-life
applications. These skills that I learned
throughout CAS will be of tremendous use to
me in the future, wherever I go! For instance,
