you deceitful tongue. 6 Therefore, God shall destroy you for ever; he<br />

shall catch you, and pluck you out of your dwelling, and root you out<br />

of <strong>the</strong> land of <strong>the</strong> living. 7 The righteous also shall see this and fear,<br />

and shall laugh him to scorn: 8 “Behold, this is <strong>the</strong> one who did not<br />

take God for his strength, but trusted in <strong>the</strong> multitude of his riches<br />

and relied on his wickedness.” 9 As for me, I am like a green olive tree<br />

in <strong>the</strong> house of God; my trust is in <strong>the</strong> tender mercy of God for ever<br />

and ever. 10 I will always give thanks unto you for what you have<br />

done, and I will declare your Name among <strong>the</strong> faithful, for it is good.<br />

PSALM 53 ~ 1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”<br />

² They are corrupt and have become abominable in <strong>the</strong>ir wickedness;<br />

<strong>the</strong>re is none that does good. ³ God looked down from heaven upon<br />

<strong>the</strong> children of men to see if <strong>the</strong>re were any who would understand<br />

and seek after God. 4 But <strong>the</strong>y have all gone astray; <strong>the</strong>y have<br />

altoge<strong>the</strong>r become abominable; <strong>the</strong>re is none that does good, no,<br />

not one. 5 Have <strong>the</strong>y no knowledge, all <strong>the</strong> workers of evil who eat up<br />

my people as <strong>the</strong>y would eat bread, and call not upon God? 6 They<br />

were afraid where no fear was, for God has broken <strong>the</strong> bones of those<br />

who besieged you; 7 You have put <strong>the</strong>m to shame, because God has<br />

rejected <strong>the</strong>m. 8 Oh, that salvation were given unto Israel out of Zion!<br />

Oh, that God would deliver his people out of captivity! 9 Then shall<br />

Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.<br />

EVENING - Placing all cares in God’s hands<br />

PSALM 39 ~ 1 I said, “I will take heed to my ways, that I may not<br />

offend <strong>with</strong> my tongue. ² I will keep my mouth as <strong>with</strong> a bridle<br />

while <strong>the</strong> ungodly are in my sight.” ³ I held my tongue and spoke<br />

nothing; I kept silence, even from good words; but it was pain and<br />

grief to me. 4 My heart was hot <strong>with</strong>in me, and while I was thus<br />

pondering <strong>the</strong> fire kindled, and at <strong>the</strong> last I spoke <strong>with</strong> my tongue:<br />

“Lord, let me know my end and <strong>the</strong> number of my days, that I may<br />

learn how short my life is. 6 Behold, you have made my days as a span<br />

in length, and my age is even as nothing before you; and truly,<br />

everyone living is but a breath. 7 For everyone walks about as a<br />

shadow, and disquiets himself in vain; he heaps up riches and cannot<br />

tell who shall ga<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>m. 8 And now, Lord, what is my hope? Truly,<br />

my hope is in you. 9 Deliver me from all my offenses, and make me<br />

not a taunt of <strong>the</strong> foolish. 10 I became mute and opened not my<br />
