CHIBA 2008 ORIENTAL LAND / TAKENAKA CORPORATION
In one corner of the Tokyo Disney Resort, a permanent stage and home for the Cirque du Soleil has opened.
Twenty spotlights with color filters are aimed at the geometrically shaped exterior of the theatre. Along the
entrance slope, linear LED and color shadowing create an artistic approach to amuse guests as anticipation
and lighting effects gradually increase. In the vaulted entrance lobby, the curtain wall leans outward at 15
degrees and a rhythm of light and shadow along this plane help to create a space of high quality.

COMMEMORATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RESTORATION OF MEIJI JINGU COMMITTEE
There is still dark beauty in Tokyo. To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Meiji Jingu Reconstruction,
approaches and shrine buildings were illuminated in an artistic display of light. We based our design concept
on the minimal use of light for an environment-friendly approach. We combined 21-century LEDs and
ancient candlelight to achieve a progressive lighting environment. 150,000 visitors came to visit the shrine,
enjoying light and darkness.

THE SEA VIEW
SINGAPORE 2008 MER VUE DEVELOPMENTS / RSP ARCHITECTS PLANNERS & ENGINEERS /
The Sea view is a 6-tower condominium located on the picturesque East Coast of Singapore. The solidity of
the towers is counter-balanced by the indirectly lit curves of the landscape and pool areas. A neo-classical
bungalow built in the early 1900s was readapted as a clubhouse. Lighting gives it a special focus in the midst
of the contemporary architecture and lushly lit tropical landscape.

A compact residential enclave in one of the most

attempts to emphasize the landscape as the focal
element. The softly lit swimming pool in the centre is
framed by bright tree uplights and these features create
interest in both the eye level view as well as the view
from the residents’ balcony areas.
