The elderly man was oblivious to
the commotion he was creating on the
ward. He was far too busy trying to close
the large gap in his hospital gown.
“Nurse, what kind of a nightshirt
do you call this?” he shouted out, as
he walked towards me at the nurses’
station. I saw his ample abdomen and
other vital parts were all on full display;
no wonder he was creating such a stir.
“I can’t get the danged edges to come
together; no matter how hard I try.”
Trying hard not to laugh, I swiftly
propelled him back into his room.
“It’s supposed to go on the other way
round.” I said.
“That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever
heard. If I do what you say everyone will
be able to see my back-side; I wouldn’t
like that.”
“Well, I think, it would be a lot better
than what you’re showing everyone
now.”
I handed him another gown. “I
suggest, Mr. Jones, you put this one on
over the top of that one; the opposite
way around; that should solve the
problem.”
I grinned. “And, just remember to
do this every time before you again go
walking around the ward.”
