The enactment of Public Law loo-527 on October 25, 1998,g
authorized the creation of the National Commission on Executive
Organization. The President is authorized to form the Commission,
and he has 30 days after the law's effective dirt8 (March 15, 1989)
to determine whether to establish the Commission. If the President
fails to notify tha Congress within the 30-day period of his intent
to establish the Commission, tha authorization expires.
The Coaaiaaion is to be compoaad of 16 members and is required
to examine and make recommendations with respect to:
(1) criteria for use in evaluating proposed changes in the
structure of the l xacutive branch of government, including
criteria for evaluating and overseeing government-sponsored
enterprises and government corporations:
