School master plan off to the Ministry of Education
From Page 1
‘‘It’s quite exciting to be able to
redesign aschool and essentially swap
out old prefab classrooms with
purposebuilt classrooms.
‘‘It will be astaged build because the
school has to continue to operate, so
once we know the priorities, aphased
approach of building will take place so
Flyride to include several switchbacks
From Page 1
The ride changes direction at each of
the seven poles, which provide the
tension and anchoring for the flyride
system.
The applicant is asking that the ride
be allowed to operate from 10am to 6pm,
but consent is sought to extend the hours
during the summer from 9am to 7pm.
Alicence will be sought from the
council to allow the flyride to operate in
the reserve, as commercial activities are
not allowed on Conical Hill under the
Conical Hill Reserve Management Plan
without permission.
The applicant has offered acondition
to ensure the protection of the Rough
Gecko habitat, the South Marlborough
Grass Skink and other lizards.
it doesn’t impact on students’ learning.’’
The school roll is sitting at 520 and is
expected to grow.
‘‘We finished last year with 520
students and we started with 520 this
year, with in excess of 40 new students.
‘‘The largest part of the school is the
year 7to10s, which is more than 200, so
it looks really promising for the future.’’
While it is too early to say what the
redevelopment will look like, Mr Hart
says the school’s observatory will
feature in the redesign.
‘‘We will be making use of the natural
environment, the surrounding hills,
and acknowledging the night sky, and
the observatory is very much apart of
our planning.’’
