I WILL SAY.
DAVID, or whoever wrote Psalm 91,
understood this.
The power of words.
David wrote,
“I will say of the Lord ... (verse 2)
In this case, David said
“He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.” (verse 2)
On many other occasions, David
confessed in the first person.
This is very powerful.
“I shall not lack.” (Psalm 23:1)
He first referred to the nature of God.
And then he confessed about how this
relates to Him.
Like in Psalm 23, the first verse.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not
want.”
There is something better, still.
3
4
It is better to confess in the present tense.
As if a thing had already come to pass.
5
6
GOD CALLS THOSE
THINGS WHICH ARE
NOT AS IF THEY WERE.
WE CAN learn from God.
He
“quickeneth the dead, and calleth those
things which be not as though they were”
(Romans 4:17, KJV).
There is power in a confession to bring the
very thing to come to pass.
God knows this.
That is why he changed Abraham’s name.
From Abram to Abraham.
“Father of many nations.”
And Abraham would have called himself
by that name.
“Good morning! I’m Abraham.”
And others called Abraham by that name.
Mind you, this was all before Abraham
had any children.
7
8
Such is the power of a confession.
It has the power to bring into being.
9
10
LET NOT THE
INHABITANT OF ZION
SAY, I AM SICK.
WE FIND this statement in Isaiah that
says,
“And the inhabitant shall not say, I am
sick ...” (Isaiah 33).
The context of this passage is a beautiful
prophetic picture.
Of the effects of salvation.
So what then shall we say, if we find
ourselves having symptoms of sickness in
our bodies?
Stick with the power of confession.
We can acknowledge that we have certain
symptoms.
Sure.
But what shall we say?
What Peter instructs us to say.
“By whose stripes you were healed” (1
Peter 2:24)
11
12
Better still: make it personal.
“By His stripes, I am healed.”
13

those things
which are not
as though
they were.

1 THE POWER OF THE
SPOKEN WORD.
A SPOKEN word is powerful.
It has the ability to create.
God said,
“Light be.”
And there was light.
I once heard the audible voice of Jesus in
a dream.
He was speaking to me, calling me by my
name.
I have said it before.
His voice is characterized, as I perceived
it at that time, by 2 things.
Total unconditional love.
And total authority.
I knew that whatever Jesus commands
comes to pass.
Thre is power in a spoken word.
As believers, we ought to be acutely
19
20
aware of this.
So that we watch what we say.
Because Jesus says that we can have what
we say.
This is where the rubber meets the road.
What we really believe in our hearts will
eventually come out of our mouths.
Here is the passage with a bit more
context.
“Now in the morning, as they passed by,
they saw the fig tree dried up from the
roots. And Peter, remembering, said to
Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You
cursed has withered away.”
So Jesus answered and said to them,
“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say
to you, whoever says to this mountain,
‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and
does not doubt in his heart, but believes
that those things he says will be done,
he will have whatever he says. Therefore
I say to you, whatever things you ask
when you pray, believe that you receive
them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:
20-24)
Take note: Jesus says that we will have
“whatever we say.”
21
22
It is true with negative things as well.
This is how we activate the power of
negativity.
By saying.
This is basically agreeing with the devil.
The King James Bible puts it well in
Matthew 6.
Jesus says,
“Therefore take no thought, saying, What
shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed?” (verse
31)
Thoughts may be flying over our heads.
Even in our heads.
They fly around.
Thoughts that are not of God.
Thoughts that the enemy puts there.
Thoughts that come from sources that are
empowered by Satan.
Watch out for the media!
But these thoughts have no power yet.
They take on power when we take them
and verbalize them.
That is why the KJV says,
23
24
“Take no thought, saying ...”
It is when we verbalize those thoughts.
When we make them our own.
Then we are agreeing with the enemy.
We give him the right to do his diabolical
work.
25
26
2 BE CAREFUL WHAT
YOU ARE LISTENING TO.
JESUS warns us.
He says,
“Pay attention to what you are listening to.
That it’s the right stuff.”
“Take heed what you hear. With the same
measure you use, it will be measured to
you; and to you who hear, more will be
given.” (Mark 4:24)
The enemy is a slimy fellow.
He seeks to gain dominion over people by
deception.
This is the keyword in these last days.
It comes over and over when Jesus speaks
about the times we are living in.
He says,
“Let no one deceive you ...”
Deception is the tool number one in the
toolbox of the enemy.
He wants us to agree with his lies.
27
28
And then he’s got us.
So we need to be alert.
We need to be very, very careful about
what we are listening to.
Best is to filter everything through the
word of God.
We ought to be working on our filter.
The word of God.
The problem arises when people don’t
have the filter of the word of God.
So that they can measure what they hear
with the word of God.
That’s why Paul admonishes Timothy to
study the word.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV)
Why study the word?
So that we can develop a good filter that
will protect us from the onslaught of the
enemy.
We can resist Him with the word.
If that word dwells in us richly.
That is why Paul admonishes the
29
30
Colossians—and us!—saying,
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly
in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)
31
32
3 NOT ALL IS AS IT
APPEARS.
THE AGENDA of the prince of the air is
this.
To veil the gospel.
To prevent people from experiencing the
glory of God fall on them.
And how does the devil do that?
By blinding people’s minds.
Paul puts it like this:
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to
them that are lost: In whom the god of
this world hath blinded the minds of
them which believe not, lest the light of
the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the
image of God, should shine unto them.”
(2 Corinthians 4:3-4, KJV)
That ugly fellow is a mind blinder.
Yet the mystery is that religion doesn’t
appear ugly.
To the natural mind, that is.
To the spiritual mind, religion appears
33
34
very ugly.
It is all pomp.
But no power.
No divine glory.
Earthly glory, yes.
Because the deceiver is behind it.
He can appear as an angel of light.
Look good.
But only to the unspiritual.
That is why Paul says,
“Don’t pay attention to how things look.”
“Pay attention to the power of God that is
manifested.”
He says this to the Corinthians.
“Now some are puffed up, as though I
were not coming to you. But I will come
to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I
will know, not the word of those who are
puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom
of God is not in word but in power. What
do you want? Shall I come to you with a
rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?”
(1 Corinthians 4:18-20)
Appearance-wise, things may look good.
But that should not be our focus.
35
36
Our focus should be on the power of God.
How much power flows through a
minister of God?
This should be our real focus.
The devil plays the appearance game.
To deceive.
He is a master deceiver.
So don’t let him play his tricks on you.
Don’t let him blind your mind through the
illusion of a grand appearance.
37
38
4 THE WORD AND THE
SPIRIT.
OF COURSE, the word of God is not
enough.
We need to have the word and the Spirit
working together.
The Spirit of God illuminates the word of
God.
This is the mystery.
Before a person truly receives the Holy
Spirit, the word of God is very much a
mystery to them.
They can’t understand it.
But once people have received the Holy
Spirit, they begin to be drawn to the word
of God.
I remember when I came to the Lord
many years ago.
In the desert of Australia.
After I had come to the Lord, I asked my
first spiritual father to please give me a
bible.
39
40
He forgot to ask me whether I had one.
But after 2 days, I could not stand it
anymore.
I asked him for a bible.
And he gave me a Gideon bible. A New
King James Version.
Once I got the bible, I started to devour it.
Nobody told me to read it.
I just did it because I had received the
Holy Spirit.
So the Holy Spirit was working in me.
I had my best times, sitting in an
underground cave—where I came to the
Lord (in Coober Pedy). Most people there
live in underground caves carved out
from sandstone because the temperatures
outside are otherwise too hot (50 degrees
Celcius +).
I was just sitting there, reading and
underlining and highlighting my bible for
hours on end.
Another highlight for me was when
a couple of years later, I discovered a
concordance.
The same thing. I would be sitting there
with my gargantuan Young’s Analytical
41
42
Concordance to the Bible combing
through tons of bible verses as the Holy
Spirit would lead me.
I was super excited whenever the Holy
Spirit gave me an insight into bible
scriptures or when he illuminated a
passage to me by showing me how
passages were connected.
I have never been to a formal bible school,
apart from the theological training I got
at a college called the Harvest School in
Pemba, Mozambique.
Yet, I have had this insatiable appetite for
the word of God.
This is the work of the Holy Spirit.
So the word and the Spirit need to work
together.
The Spirit illuminates the word.
You need both: the Spirit and the word.
My spiritual father Leif Hetland puts it,
tongue in cheek:
“If you only have the word, you dry up.”
“If you only have the Spirit, you blow
up.”
“But if you have the Spirit and the word,
you grow up.”
43
44
5 RIGHTLY DIVIDING
THE WORD OF GOD.
THIS IS another point.
We need the Holy Spirit so that He can
teach us to rightly divide the word of God.
It is essential that we recognize that in the
bible there are several covenants.
The law covenant is weak and obsolete.
Paul reminds the Hebrews,
“For on the one hand there is an
annulling of the former commandment
because of its weakness and
unprofitableness, for the law made
nothing perfect; on the other hand,
there is the bringing in of a better hope,
through which we draw near to God.”
(Hebrews 7:18-19, KJV)
So we need to be careful when we read
the bible.
We need to rightly divide it.
Lest we are in the wrong covenant.
A covenant that is, in the words of Paul
45
46
- weak
- unprofitable
and is
- disannulled.
A covenant that is no longer valid!
I have seen a lot of confusion in the
churches that happens when people mix
covenants.
It is a matter of not rightly dividing the
covenants.
That is why Paul admonishes Timothy to
be careful with this.
“Be diligent to present yourself approved
to God, a worker who does not need to
be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
47
48
6 CONFESSION.
SO LET us get back to the topic of
confession.
When I say confession, I mean confessing
the Word.
This is the meaning of confession.
In Greek, the word for confession is
‘homologeo.’
Homo means the same.
And ‘logo’ means the word.
So when we confess the Word of God, we
are agreeing with what God says in the
Word.
This is what Paul, or whoever the writer
of Hebrews was means when he says,
“Let us hold fast the confession of our
hope without wavering, for He who
promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
49
50
7 A POWERFUL
METHOD.
THERE is a powerful method that we
can apply to the word of God to make it
personal.
So we can use it as a confession.
Some Scriptures are already written in the
style of a confession.
For example, Psalm 27, verse 1:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength
of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
We can use this scripture directly.
Or Psalm 23, verse 1:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not
want.”
Better still, we can say, “I do not want.”
This is calling things that are not as
though they were.
Call them in the present tense.
And use the ‘I’ form.
51
52
If you do this in a group, say ‘we.’
So if we do this, we can use many
scriptures from the bible directly as they
are written.
But often, we need to re-phrase them and
make them personal to us.
For example, Psalm 34:10:
“The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the Lord shall not lack
any good thing.”
So, in your confession, say,
“The young lions lack and suffer hunger.
But I seek the Lord. I do not lack any
good thing.”
“I love God.
I am called according to his purpose.
All things work tother for good for me.”
This was an example of a re-phrasing of
Romans 8:28 which says,
“And we know that all things work
together for good to those who love God,
to those who are the called according to
His purpose.”
So what you are doing when you are
re-phrasing scripture is this.
53
54
You make it personal to yourself.
You are re-wiring your brain.
So that you begin more and more to think
along with God’s thoughts.
You begin to think like him.
This is super important if you want to
grow spiritually.
That you align your thinking to be along
God’s way of thinking.
Because, otherwise, how can you walk
with Him, if He is thinking one thing, and
you are thinking another thing.
Amos puts it that way,
“Can two walk together, unless they are
agreed?” (Amos 3:3)
55
56
8 OUR BRAIN NEEDS
RE-WIRING.
GOD DOESN’T change our thinking, the
instant we come to him.
This is a process.
And confessing the word—saying it—is a
powerful tool in this process.
Paul admonishes the Romans to be
changed in their thinking.
Because thought patterns are ingrained
in us right from the moment, and even
before, we are born.
They need changing.
They need to be conformed to the
thoughts of God.
This is what Paul says in Romans 12:2:
“And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that you may prove what is
that good and acceptable and perfect will
of God.”
As any mature believer will tell you: the
57
58
attlefield is the mind.
That’s why we need to be alert and careful
about what we allow ourselves to listen to.
Much in media is mind programming.
In religion as well.
Bewitching.
Enchanting.
Much of popular media is connected to
magic and witchcraft.
The source of all this is demonic in nature.
But the word of God can break all this.
Jeremiah 23:29 says,
“Is not My word like a fire?” says the
Lord,
“And like a hammer that breaks the rock
in pieces?”
59
60
9 FILTERING.
THE WORD of God is a filter.
It helps us to see the world through the
thoughts of God.
Without the word of God, we are easy
prey.
But if the word of God resides in us, we
can resist the devil.
We can resist the impulses and
programming of culture.
David says,
“Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.” (Psalm
119:11)
The word in us makes us overcomers.
61
62
10 SAY IT.
WHEN WE READ the book of Joshua,
we see that Joshua had great success.
As a whole.
There were a few mishaps.
But, overall Joshua had an astonishing
level of success.
Because right at the start of His journey
as a leader, God gave him His success
strategy.
Which was saying the Word.
Mediating theWord, meaning saying it.
To yourself.
This is what the word ‘mediate’ in
Hebrew means.
To mutter.
This means, to speak to yourself.
Here is the well-known passage from
Joshua.
“1 After the death of Moses the servant
of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord
spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’
63
64
assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant
is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over
this Jordan, you and all this people, to
the land which I am giving to them—the
children of Israel. 3 Every place that the
sole of your foot will tread upon I have
given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the
wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the
great river, the River Euphrates, all the
land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea
toward the going down of the sun, shall be
your territory. 5 No man shall be able to
stand before you all the days of your life;
as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.
I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be
strong and of good courage, for to this
people you shall divide as an inheritance
the land which I swore to their fathers
to give them. 7 Only be strong and very
courageous, that you may observe to do
according to all the law which Moses
My servant commanded you; do not turn
from it to the right hand or to the left, that
you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This
Book of the Law shall not depart from
your mouth, but you[c] shall meditate in it
day and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written in it. For
then you will make your way prosperous,
and then you will have good success. 9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong
65
66
and of good courage; do not be afraid,
nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God
is with you wherever you go.”” (Joshua
1:1-9)
This was God’s success strategy.
He needed Joshuah to meditate the Word.
Speak it.
“This book of the law shall not depart
from your mouth ...”
Note.
It “shall not depart from your mouth.”
God needs to transform us from the inside
first.
Before we can have something, we need
to possess it already inside.
This a faith principle.
“Believe it ... in your heart ... and then you
shall have it.”
This is what Jesus says.
“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say
to you, whoever says to this mountain,
‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and
does not doubt in his heart, but believes
that those things he says will be done, he
will have whatever he says. Therefore I
say to you, whatever things you ask when
67
68
you pray, believe that you receive them,
and you will have them.” (Mark 11:22-24)
69
70
11 WIN WITH THE
WORD OF GOD.
WIN THE battle.
With the word of God.
By training yourself to speak according to
the word of God.
To speak as the Spirit—the Holy Spirit—
leads you to speak.
And speak to yourself.
The word of God.
Paul, the apostle, loved Jesus.
He also loved the church.
Us.
So, he gives us this instruction to
“Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians
5:18),
By
“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody in your heart to the Lord”
(Ephesians 5:19).
71
72
We win.
By the word of God.
As we speak it.
It transforms our thinking.
From the inside out.
And then we begin to do.
We begin to act on the word.
As the Holy Spirit prompts us.
When this happens, we have good
success.

The word 'testimony' means to do it
again.
Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit and
fire.
This is His hallmark.
By this, we know that we have to do it
with the real Jesus.
Anything other than that is counterfeit.
John, the Baptist, said,
“I indeed baptize you with water unto
repentance, but He who is coming
after me is mightier than I ... He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit and
fire.” (Matthew 3:11)
This is what we see happening in the book
of Acts.
And this is what Jesus is still doing today.
I have seen it so often, and I’d like to
share some of my experiences with you.
So that you may be inspired.
Perhaps you haven’t made this experience

Have you already received the
wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit since
you became a believer in Jesus Christ?
If not yet, find out how you can easily
receive Holy Spirit today—even if you have
already tried to receive many times before.
There can be only one of two reasons w h y
you haven't received the Holy Spirit yet.
1) You may not yet clearly understand that
there is a Holy Spirit and why we can receive
Him. You may be in the same position as
some disciples from Ephesus in Acts 19.
When Paul met them, he asked them, "Did you receive
the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They said to him,
"We haven’t heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
2) Or, you may be in the same position as
some believers from Samaria in Acts 8.
They had "believed" and "they were baptized."
But they still hadn’t received the Holy Spirit at that
point. So then Peter and John came and "prayed
for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit."
Whichever position you are in—your
time to receive Holy Spirit has come!

Yes and No
ALBERT ELISHA OBERDORFER
78
From a strictly biblical perspective, the
answer is straightforward.
'Yes and No.'
Everybody who has received the Holy Spirit
speaks in tongues as a sign.
But not everybody also operates in the gift
of tongues.
In other words, in the bible, we find two
types of speaking in tongues.
The accompanying sign of speaking in
tongues, according to Jesus in Mark 16:17:
"And these signs shall follow those
who believe ... in my name ... they will
speak with new tongues ..."
And the gift of tongues, according to Paul
in 1 Corinthians 12:10-11:
"To one is given ... to another different
kinds of tongues .. one and the
same Spirit works all these things,
distributing to each one individually as
He wills."

to understand. The gospel, as well, for a 99-year-old that
hungers for the truth and a relationship with their Creator.
Well done.” Micah Arlan A
Interested in finding out about Jesus from a biblical
perspective? Then this book is for you.
“Written with profound insight, yet easy to read and
also comprehend for someone without any Christian
background. The author brilliantly explains how the Bible
answers the most significant questions regarding our
existence and how Jesus is the key to these answers.“
