be Saturday, April 17 th . You won’t have to haul your items far; it will take place in YOUR OWN

FIREWORKS PROHIBITION IN THE DEED RESTRICTIONS 

The Board asks that residents refrain from celebrating holidays with the use of fireworks and 

fireworks display. This not only poses a nuisance and disturbance to your neighbors, it also leaves

home - your neighbors don’t want to look out their windows and see your garbage either. Please 

be respectful and only place trash out on specific trash days.

Garbage collection days are: Wednesday and Saturday. Trash containers must be at curb by 7 AM 

on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

and neighborhood trash and litter free! Make it a habit, be a good 

neighbor and do your part! If each person did their own part (around the 

outside of their home including their little stretch of street in front of their 

house), what a better place this would be to live! A clean environment/ 

neighborhood makes people feel good about themselves. They will 

keep it clean. Some need to be reminded. Others need to be continually

There have been complaints about children crossing through residents’ 

private yards to get to the facilities. Please let children know that they 

cannot cross private property. If this should occur more than once, we ask

and debris around or into the lakes. In addition, there is NO SWIMMING, 

BOATING OR FISHING in the LAKES.

To report a street light that is not working, call Centerpoint Energy at 713- 

207-2222. You will need to report both the number on the base of the 

pole and the street address. You may also report outages online at www. 

centerpointenergy.com/outage. 

NEW HOMEOWNERS MUST REGISTER 

TO GAIN ACCESS TO AMENITIES 

All new homeowners, as well as current residents (if not already 

registered), are asked to register at the Westheimer Lakes onsite office 

located on the second floor of the SplashPad Texas building. This process 

ensures that all residents have access to the amenities such as the pool, 

automobile stickers and EZ Tag enrollment (no cost with a Harris County 

EZ Tag) for entry into the EZ Tag lanes at the gated sections. Some 

electronic tag fees are applicable. Your proof of resident ownership will 

be needed to properly complete your registration.

The gate attendants maintain a list of residents that have registered at 

the onsite business office. Your visitors should also be reminded to stop 

and register with the gate attendant. Association’s property is under 

camera surveillance cameras are in place throughout strategic areas of 

the community.

If you are between 12 and 18 and would like to be added to the 

teenage job seeker’s list, please fill out the form on our website (www.

the name of your newsletter/subdivision. Check the list of jobs you want

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL UPDATES 

CONTINUED CAMPUS PHASE 1 SAFETY PROTOCOLS 

Katy ISD Campus Phase 1 Safety Protocols remain in effect to ensure the continued 

mitigation and deterrence of the potential spread of COVID-19. The District anticipates 

releasing Phase 2 protocols when state, local and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) 

provide updated guidance allowing for de-escalation of virus mitigation protocols. Katy 

ISD will provide updates as additional information becomes available. Please check the 

Katy ISD “Smart Restart” webpage to review current Campus Phase 1 Safety Protocols. 

KATY ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES CALL 

FOR A MAY 2021 SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION 

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved to hold a general election in 

May 2021 for a three-year term in Positions 6 and 7. 

• Early Voting by Personal Appearance: Mon, April 19 to Tues, April 27, 2021 

• Election Day: Saturday, May 1, 2021 

Currently, Position 6 is being held by Susan Gesoff and Position 7 is held 

by Dawn Champagne. State law requires a candidate for trustee of an 

independent school district to be a qualified voter by the time mentioned 

in Election Code Section 141.001. Katy ISD trustees are the governing body 

of the school district and are the main advising group that oversees and 

shapes policies. Individuals serving as Board members are not employees 

of Katy ISD, yet they dedicate countless hours to lead an A+ school district. 

KATY VIRTUAL SCHOOL REGISTRATION OPEN 

For students, virtual classes are an excellent way to acquire graduation credits 

and/or expand their learning opportunities. Last year, over 4,000 students 

utilized the Katy Virtual School (KVS) program offered by the Katy Independent 

School District. KVS launched in 2013 with a primary goal of expanding the 

learning opportunities for students by offering choice and flexibility for rigorous 

online courses developed and taught by Katy ISD teachers. KVS has begun 

online registration for Summer 2021, Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters. 

“KVS provides online learning that offers a flexible, online experience, which 

helps students achieve their educational goals,” said Susan Richards, Katy ISD 

Instructional Technology e-Learning Manager. “The virtual model of e-learning 

is in high demand and delivers quality instruction to Katy ISD students, outside 

of normal school hours, to support student graduation plans. KVS is different 

from the current Katy Virtual Academy (KVA), which is the online learning 

model implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Richards. 

KVS will offer a wide range of courses from Creative Writing, AP Art 

History, English III, World Geography, Economics, Psychology and more. 

There are over 30 Advanced Placement (AP), Katy Advanced Program 

(KAP) and academic level courses available to students with additional 

opportunities being added each year. The cost per course is $200 per 

semester. KVS is an approved College Board online provider for Advanced 

Placement (AP) courses and by the NCAA for student initial eligibility.

EIGHTEEN KATY ISD SCHOOLS EARN 

TEXAS HONOR ROLL DISTINCTION 

Katy Independent School District is focused on closing the achievement 

gap and helping all its students reach academic success. To recognize 

those efforts, 18 Katy ISD schools now proudly display the distinction of 

being a Texas Honor Roll School by the Educational Results Partnership 

(ERP). 

After an extensive analysis of student data of every public school in

Donatutors is a nonprofit tutoring organization that donates 100% of 

our proceeds to charity. All of our tutors are straight-A students at Seven 

Lakes High school and we offer a multitude of courses like creative 

writing, computer science, biology, public speaking, ICTW writing and 

many different math courses too. We charge $20 per class, but the first

SUPPORT GROUP FOR JOB HUNTERS 

Searching for a job can be difficult and stressful, but doing it in the middle 

of a pandemic can be even worse. Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) will 

host an online Job-Search Support Group on Tuesday, April 27 th at 2 PM. 

This program will be live-streamed via Webex; it will NOT be in person. In 

this online forum, job hunters will have an opportunity to network with 

other people, exchange tips and leads or simply vent their frustrations 

with others in the same position. Library staff will share helpful online 

resources that can be accessed through the FBCL website. These free 

resources can help job seekers create a better resumé, improve their 

job skills, research job opportunities and careers and much more. This 

online event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required 

so that a link to the Webex session can be emailed to all participants.

Celebrating its 40 years of service to Houston and Texas, Crime Stoppers 

of Houston will host its annual Houston’s Heroes Awards Luncheon on 

Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 11:30 AM-1 PM at the Royal Sonesta Houston 

Hotel to honor outstanding individuals and organizations who have 

given exemplary service to make Houston a safer place to live, work, 

learn and play. Due to the public health threat from Covid-19 and the

cancel this event last Spring due to the pandemic, the organization is

You could make this on National Caramel Popcorn Day April 6th! 

INGREDIENTS: 

23 large marshmallows 

2 cups brown sugar 

1/4 cup light corn syrup (such as Karo®) 

1 cup butter 

1 teaspoon vanilla extract 

2 (3.5 ounce) packages microwave popcorn, popped 

DIRECTIONS: 

Cook and stir the marshmallows, brown sugar, corn syrup, butter 

and vanilla extract together in a pot over medium-low heat until the 

marshmallows are completely melted, 5 to 7 minutes. 

Put the popcorn in a large bowl; pour the marshmallow mixture over the 

popcorn and gently stir with a big spoon to coat.

INGREDIENTS: 

1 cup butter, softened 

1 cup brown sugar 

1/2 cup white sugar 

2 eggs 

1 teaspoon vanilla extract 

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 

1 teaspoon baking soda 

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 

3 cups rolled oats 

1 cup raisins 

1 cup crushed toffee candy 

DIRECTIONS: 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. 

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Beat in 

the eggs, one at a time then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and 

cinnamon, stir into the creamed mixture. Blend in the oatmeal, raisins and toffee 

bits. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 

minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes 

before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
