Coastal Warning Siren Test<br />

Civil Defence will be testing Waimakariri’s coastal<br />

warning siren system on Tuesday 6<strong>April</strong> at 1pm.<br />

The sirens are tested twice ayear, usually on the<br />

first working day following achange in Daylight<br />

Savings time.<br />

Residents in Kairaki, The Pines, Woodend and<br />

Waikuku beaches are likely to hear the test,<br />

however wind conditions can allow the sound to<br />

travel further inland.<br />

Any residents with concerns can call the Council<br />

on 0800 965 468 and ask to speak with one of our<br />

Civil Defence officers.<br />

New Tsunami Zones<br />

The siren test is agreat reminder to learn about<br />

your tsunami evacuation zone and check your<br />

home’s emergency plan.<br />

The Council has recently updated tsunami<br />

evacuation zones aer modelling showed flooding<br />

from atsunami could travel further inland than<br />

previously thought.<br />

We now have three tsunami evacuation zones: red,<br />

orange and yellow. View the map and search for<br />

your address at waimakariri.govt.nz/tsunami<br />

Alerts for Kerbside Collections<br />

Text and email alerts for kerbside collections on<br />

Good Friday will still come through. However,<br />

collection itself is moving to Saturday 3<strong>April</strong>. We<br />

apologise for any confusion this may cause.<br />

Let's Talk about the LTP<br />

You’ve got just over two weeks to have your say<br />

about the dra Long Term Plan <strong>2021</strong> -2031.<br />

The Long Term Plan (LTP) is Council’s key<br />

strategic document and sets out projects and<br />

priorities, as well as how much it will cost and<br />

how itwill be funded.<br />

Over the next 10 years the Council is focused on<br />

making sure we keep up with growth, Covid-19<br />

economic recovery, climate change/sustainability,<br />

and the impact of the Three Waters Review.<br />

Specifically the Council are asking for feedback on:<br />

• New community facilities for Pegasus and north<br />

Woodend (Ravenswood)<br />

• Upgrades tothe Rangiora Library and wider<br />

civic area<br />

• Parking in Rangiora –including acar park building.<br />

SIREN TEST<br />

TUESDAY 6 APRIL 1PM<br />

Civil Defence will be testing the coastal warning<br />

system at 1pm on Tuesday 6<strong>April</strong>.<br />

Sirens are located at The Pines Beach/Kairaki,<br />

Woodend and Waikuku beaches, however depending<br />

on wind conditions, the sound may travel further.<br />

The test message will last for approximately one<br />

minute and depending on how close you are, may be<br />

quite loud.<br />

The Kaiapoi CBD Friday collectionwill be moved<br />

to Thursday1<strong>April</strong>.<br />

There arenochanges for Easter Monday<br />

collections.<br />

Bins and bags should be out for collection by 7am.<br />

Transfer Stations<br />

Good Friday –the Southbrook Resource Recovery<br />

Park and Oxford Transfer Station are closed.<br />

Easter Sunday -ReSale Store closed, and the<br />

rest of the Southbrook ResourceRecoveryPark<br />

is open.<br />

Transferstations will be open as usual for the<br />

remainder of Easter weekend.<br />
