Intelligent All Wheel Drive allows you the confidence to stay in control no matter what the conditions.<br />
Fitted as standard to all the All Wheel Drive models, this system provides ongoing feedback on the<br />
road conditions and quickly reacts if necessary to unify the Active Torque Control 4WD, Vehicle<br />
Stability Control and electric power steering into a single, highly responsive unit.<br />
The result is effective, yet unobtrusive assistance for a safer driving experience.<br />
Oversteering and understeering correction<br />
Oversteering can cause the rear to swing out. To prevent this, the<br />
RAV4’s intelligent All Wheel Drive system distributes more drive force<br />
to the front wheels, provides steering torque assistance to keep the<br />
vehicle stable, and improves acceleration. To counteract understeer,<br />
which causes the front of the vehicle to drift away, the intelligent<br />
All Wheel Drive system supplies more torque to the rear wheels,<br />
provides steering torque assistance to keep you on track, and<br />
enhances acceleration.<br />
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC)<br />
In wet conditions or when taking a corner too fast, VSC acts to help<br />
reduce sideways slippage of tyres, helping you to maintain grip and<br />
giving you back control. TRC uses braking and reduced torque in<br />
situations where the wheels lose grip on the road or start spinning,<br />
and restores traction by redistributing the amount of power to each<br />
wheel independently.<br />
