Hey kid!
We haven’t met you, but we already know a thing or two about you.
Thing #1: You’re young.
We get it, you didn’t need us to remind you of that.
After all, you’ve heard that plenty of times from your older siblings, parents,
and other well-meaning people.
Even though you might be too young to drink coffee, drive a car, have
your own Instagram account, ride that super-scary rollercoaster, work at a
McDonald’s, or watch that PG-13 movie that everyone is raving about…
Thing #2: You’re not too young to make money and make a difference.
You heard it right! You’re not too young to earn your own money.
That’s good news, right?
That’s what this course is all about—showing
you how to start your own business and how
to make your world a better place.
This journey will be fun! Maybe a little bit
scary! But oh, so worth it! Every dollar
you make will make you—building your
confidence, sharpening your thinking, and
giving you an opportunity to do good.
Whether you make a truck full of money
or not, you still will end up wealthier than
before—you’ll have skills and knowledge that
come only through experience.
So, buckle up, open your mind, roll up your sleeves, and
get ready to discover what it takes to be a moneymaker.
SESSION 2
HOW DOES MONEY WORK?
Money comes from
serving others.
VALUE
“YOU ARE NOT RICH UNTIL YOU HAVE
SOMETHING THAT MONEY CANNOT BUY.”
- UNKNOWN
13

THE SIMPLE SECRET TO MAKING MONEY
If you want to make money, come up with something that other people
either _____________ or ______________, and then _______________
it to them.
This process is called _________________________.
Let’s see how this works in real life! On the next page, make a list of ten
things that you and your family spend money on.
14

HOW MY FAMILY SPENDS ITS MONEY
1.
6.
2.
7.
3.
8.
4.
9.
5.
10.
15

Look over the list you just created, and you will notice that you and your family are
spending money on two things: __________________ and ___________________.
Go back to your list and mark each of the 10 points as a “P” (product) or a “S”
(service).
When a hairdresser is cutting your hair, or a dental hygienist is cleaning your
teeth, or a garbage collector is removing your trash—you’re paying money for a
_________________________.
When you rent a DVD, pick up cereal in a grocery store, or order a toy on Amazon—
you’re paying for a ________________________.
In each case, you are _____________________ to pay money because in return you
get something that adds ______________________ to your life.
And that’s how money works!
If you create a product or offer a service that will add value to someone’s life (making
it __________________ and __________________), they will gladly pay you their
precious money.
16

VALUE
People will buy your products and hire your services only if they are
____________________ to them.
Money is ___________________, that’s why people will only spend their money
on those products and services that offer ___________________ in return.
“Value is created when a person makes something useful and
shares it with the world… The more you understand how your skills
and knowledge can be useful to others, the more your odds of
success will go up. A business ultimately succeeds because of the
value it provides its end users, customers, or clients.”
- CHRIS GUILLEBEAU
17

ADDING VALUE TO OTHERS = SERVING OR HELPING OTHERS
The concept of bringing value to others is found all throughout the
Bible. Here are just two examples — one from the New and one from the
Old Testament.
Value others more than yourselves.
None of you should look out just for your own good.
Each of you should also look out for the good of others.
- PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4
Some people give much but get back even more.
But others don’t give what they should, and they end up poor.
A person who gives to others will get richer.
Whoever helps others will himself be helped.
- PROVERBS 11:24-25
Here’s how it works:
» When you put others first, you give them service.
»» When you give them service, you give them value.
»»» When you give them value, you get their respect.
»»»» When you get their respect, you get their trust.
»»»»»» When you get their trust, you get their business.
CONCLUSION:
IF YOU MAKE YOUR BUSINESS ABOUT HELPING
OTHERS, YOU’LL ALWAYS HAVE PLENTY OF WORK.
O Play “The Money Chase” with your parents or siblings.
O Hop on your bicycles or get into your car, or simply put on shoes and as a family
go on a “value walk” (or “value drive”). Take a good look at several local businesses
and discuss—what value does this business offer its customers?
O Grab a piece of paper, and make a list of people that provide value to you. These
could be teachers, doctors, coaches, garbage collectors, postal workers, local
policemen, school crossing guards, etc. Even though most of them are paid for the
service they provide, they still will benefit from your genuine appreciation.
After you complete your list, pick three people, and find a way to thank them for
the way they serve you. (For example, you could bake a batch of cookies and write
a Thank You note to give the garbage collectors next time they reach your house.)
Thank
you!
SESSION 3
HOW DO I SPOT NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES?
Your money-making
adventure begins with a
simple question: What
is it that people around
me need or want?
OPPORTUNITY
“OPPORTUNITY IS MISSED BY MOST PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS
DRESSED IN OVERALLS AND LOOKS LIKE WORK.”
- THOMAS EDISON
Let’s find out what the people in your world want and need right now.
In other words, is there something of value that you could offer to the
people you’re interacting with on a regular basis?
Fill out the table on the next page as thoroughly as you can. Here’s an
A TALE OF TWO SALESMEN
Two shoe salesmen were sent to Africa to see if there was
a market for their product.
One salesman was sent to the east coast of Africa, while
the other salesman was sent to the west coast of Africa.
The first salesman reported back, “This is a terrible
business opportunity, no one wears shoes.”
The second salesman reported back, “This is a fantastic
business opportunity, no one wears shoes.”
THE MORAL OF THE STORY: There is always opportunity
around us. The key is recognizing it and acting upon it.
Are you ready to seize your opportunity?
24

OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity is anything that provides you with a chance to do ___________
and to ____________ people.
Many times, we miss great opportunities that come our way because they look
like __________________ or _________________.
To seize an opportunity, first, we need to ____________ long enough to
____________ the world through other people’s eyes.
Then we need take ____________________ and respond with
_____________________ and __________________.
“A PESSIMIST SEES THE DIFFICULTY IN EVERY OPPORTUNITY;
AN OPTIMIST SEES THE OPPORTUNITY IN EVERY DIFFICULTY.”
- WINSTON CHURCHILL
25

CASE STUDY:
SEIZING THE OPPORTUNITY
When Alina Morse was seven years old, she went to the bank with her dad, and
the teller offered her a lollipop. While she really wanted to accept, her parents
always told her that candy was terrible for her teeth. So she asked her dad,
“Why can’t we make a lollipop that’s actually good for your teeth?” And in that
moment the idea for Zollipops® was born! Together, Alina and her dad set off to
make delicious lollipop treats that were actually good for teeth. In 2014, the first
Zollipops treat hit the shelves: a vegan, organic, smart and yummy candy. Alina
became known as the “Lollipop Girl,” a true Kidpreneur!
https://zollipops.com/our-story/
ALINA SAYS
“I came up with the idea when I was 7 years old. The bank teller offered me a
lollipop and my dad told me I shouldn’t have candy because sugar is terrible for
your teeth, so I asked him why can’t we make healthy lollipop that’s good for
my teeth so that I could have candy and it wouldn’t be bad for me.”
“As you grow up you tend to not ask as many questions as you do when you are
younger. I don’t intend to stop asking questions.”
“If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.”
“People have doubted me sometimes because I am a kid, but I know we are
doing something good and making a difference.”
26

OPPORTUNITIES THAT MATTER MOST
INVOLVE RISK AND HARD WORK.
The story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 is a great example of
opportunities—both missed and seized. Read this story and then answer
and discuss these questions:
• What was the opportunity?
• Who missed the opportunity? Why?
• Who seized the opportunity? Why?
• What life lessons do you find in this story?
“Make the most of every opportunity.”
- COLOSSIANS 4:5
27

Grab a notebook and a pen! It’s time to conduct some interviews! Your job is to
talk to 10 people (in person, on the phone, through email or other means) and
ask them these three questions:
• How did you pick your career?
• What do you do at work?
• What do you like the most about your job?
Take good notes, and don’t be shy about asking follow-up questions.
• What’s the most challenging part of your job?
• What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Be prepared to share what you have learned in the beginning of the next session.
Mr. Brown,
why did you
decide to
become a
vet?
28

SESSION 4
WHICH BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Your winning business
idea will be determined
by these key factors:
1) your personality
(talents & interests)
2) your schedule
(amount of free time)
3) your world (the needs of
people around you)
FOCUS
“IT IS THOSE WHO
CONCENTRATE ON BUT
ONE THING AT A TIME WHO
ADVANCE IN THIS WORLD.”
- OG MANDINO
29

Now that you have a good idea of the needs and wants of others, you
must answer one big question:
Which of these problems am I best ___________________ to solve?
Since you can’t help everyone with all their needs and wants, you
need to take a good look at yourself and decide who you can offer
_________________________.
Go through your list on page 23 and look for the needs and wants that
you can do something about.
To help you narrow the list of business opportunities, ask these three
questions for each of those opportunities:
• Do I have the right talent for this job?
• Do I have enough time for this job?
• Do I have the right personality for this job?
30

Now fill this table with the opportunities that are right for you.
PLACE PEOPLE WANTS NEEDS
31

Now that your list of business opportunities is smaller, you need to
answer one final question:
Who can you serve best ___________________?
The emphasis is on right now. Like tomorrow, next week, or next month.
Your winning business idea will be that space where the needs and
wants of others will intersect with your personality, your resources, and
_________________________.
OTHERS
Do I know the
pain points of
the people
around me?
YOU
Am I the right
person to help
them solve their
problems?
TIME
Is it the right
season to start
this business?
Your winning idea should say a big YES! to all three of these questions.
32

Now that you understand how these three circles work, look over the table
on page 31 and write down one, two, or three services or goods (products)
that you’re best positioned to offer right now or in the very near future.
EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS COMES WHEN WE DO
A FEW THINGS EXCEPTIONALLY WELL.
Nehemiah is a wonderful example of what an ordinary man with
extraordinary faith and single focus can do. Read Nehemiah 4, 6:1-17.
Notice all kinds of opposition Nehemiah and his men had encountered,
and then notice how he remained remarkably focused on the task God
had called him to do in spite of all the distraction.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.”
- COLOSSIANS 3:23
1: Nehemiah arrives to Jerusalem. He has
one goal in mind—to rebuild the city walls.
2: He knows he cannot do this humongous
project by himself. “Jerusalem lies in ruins.
Come, let us rebuild the wall!”
3: People reply, “Let us start rebuilding.”
The work begins at once.
4: Enemies of the Jews don’t want the wall
rebuilt. They begin mocking and ridiculing
the workers. Nehemiah replies, “God will
give us success. The project will go on.”
34

5: Despite being mocked by their enemies, the builders
stay focused on rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
6: “You are a bunch of losers! You’ll never
finish this wall!”
7: “You call this a wall?! A small fox will just
touch it and it will fall apart!”
8: The builders just prayed and continued
working with all their heart.
9: The enemies decide to attack the city and
stop the work. The Jews pray to God and post
a guard day and night to meet this threat.
10: Work continues from dawn until sunset
as Nehemiah reminds his men, “Our God
will fight for us!”
11: The enemies continue to throw insults and set up all
sorts of traps, but Nehemiah remains fearless and focused.
12: 52 days after the rebuilding started the
project was finished.
35

FOCUS
Focus is _______________________ all the things you could do and doing
what you ____________________ do.
rabbits, you will not
catch either one.”
“Be like a postage
- ROY T. BENNETT
Congratulations! You’re halfway to planting your money-tree!
Right now, you have three ideas about a service you want to offer or a product
you want to create. Since you can’t run in three different directions at once, you
need to narrow down your ideas to just one—just one product or service that will
become your business. Let’s do this!
Together with your parents take each of your business ideas through the
questionnaire on the next page.
Don’t rush this process. Answer each question as thoroughly as you can to figure
out which of the three ideas is the best one for right now.
NOTE: Even if right now you have only one business idea, still take it through
this process to make sure that you’ve got a winner.
That
sounds
exciting!
TOUGH QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE
YOU START A BUSINESS
On a scale from 1 to 10 how excited are you about this becoming your
business?
On a scale from 1 to 10 how excited are your parents about this becoming
your business?
What are the start-up costs for this business? Do you have this much
money right now? If not, where and how will you get it?
What resources (tools, equipment, materials) will you need to start and
operate this business? Do you have them already? If not, where and how
will you get them?
What skills will you need to start and operate this business? Do you have
them already? If not, how can you pick up these skills or hire someone
who already has these skills?
38

How much time will it take for this business to start and operate? Do you
have the time? Will you need to readjust your schedule to make time for
this business?
How will starting and running this business impact your parents and
other family members? Are they supportive to adjusting their lives to the
needs of your business?
What’s the competition like? Who else is providing a product or service
that you want to launch? How much do they charge? Will you be able to
beat their prices? Choices? Customer service? How are you planning on
offering a better or different product?
What are 2-3 risks of starting this business?
What are 2-3 rewards of starting this business?
YOUR OWN HOUSE!
That’s right! Your house will be your treasure island. Search every nook and cranny in search
of lost and forgotten money. If you feel like having a little competition, split into two even
groups and see who can find the most money. Be smart and be fast! Get to the treasure
before the other team does.
Stop after 20 minutes. Count your treasures. The team with the most cash, decides how your
family will spend the money you just found.
Other treasures to look for: unused gift cards, uncashed checks, purchases that need to be
returned.
Here are a few spots you’ll want to check:
• Handbags, backpacks, grocery bags,
every bag and purse you have
• Under furniture and under or between
the cushions
• Every item of clothing in your closet
• Winter clothing that’s stored away
• The washing machine and dryer
• In your books and textbooks
• Under any appliance
• In all your drawers
• On bookshelves
• Under the bed
• Your car
SESSION 5
HOW DOES A BUSINESS WORK?
Starting a business is
like planting a tree.
If you nurture it, it will
grow and thrive; if you
neglect it, it will wither
and die.
USP
UNIQUE SELLING POINT (AKA VALUE PROPOSITION)
Three reasons why defining your USP is important.
1. It will set you ___________________ from the competition.
2. It will generate excitement and ______________________ in your product.
3. It will give people a _____________________ to buy from you and not
from someone else.
What makes your product or service __________________ than your
competition’s?
O Speed
O Ingredients
O Guarantee
O Convenience
O Price
O Process
O Appearance
Your greatest asset is your good ______________________.
If you have a good name, people will ____________________ you. If they trust
you, they will do _______________________________ with you.
“You should want a good name more than you want great riches. To be
highly respected is better than having silver or gold.” - PROVERBS 22:1
Doing what is ____________________ and what is ____________________
should always come ______________________.
Don’t throw away your _________________________ trying to make a fast buck.
“PEOPLE WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THOSE THEY LIKE AND TRUST.
NEVER COMPROMISE YOUR REPUTATION FOR THE SAKE OF MONEY.”
- TODD BURRIER
When people hear your
like them to think of you?
When people hear the name
of your business, what
would you like them to think
about your company?
SESSION 6
HOW DO I GENERATE BUZZ ABOUT MY BUSINESS?
You can have the best
product in the world,
but if people don’t
know about it, they
won’t buy it.
MARKETING
“IN MY FACTORY WE MAKE COSMETICS, BUT IN MY STORES WE SELL HOPE.”
- CHARLES REVSON
Good marketing
is like a magnet.
It attracts
buyers to your
product.
49

MARKETING & SALES
Marketing is just a clever word for _________________________ people to your
product or service. Basically, it’s letting them know that your product or service
_______________________ and making them ____________________________
to check it out.
Examples of marketing:
1. _______________________________
2. _______________________________
3. _______________________________
4._______________________________
5. _______________________________
6._______________________________
7. _______________________________
8. _______________________________
9. _______________________________
10. ______________________________
11._______________________________
12. ______________________________
50

For marketing to be successful, you need to know two most important things.
YOUR ___________________
Who will buy your product or use your service?
YOUR ___________________
What will compel them to buy your product or use your service?
51

FOUR PILLARS OF
SUCCESSFUL MARKETING
1. Focus on your ____________________, not your ________________________
or your ___________________________.
Remember, every person wants to know just one thing:
________________________________________________________________
2. Keep it _______________________.
3. Give them a clear ___________________________________.
4. Target the right ____________________________. If you’re promoting a dog
walking service to a bunch of cat owners, don’t expect to get any business.
BEFORE
AFTER
Remember,
a picture
is worth a
thousand
words.
“LET SOMEONE ELSE PRAISE YOU, AND NOT YOUR OWN MOUTH;
AN OUTSIDER, AND NOT YOUR OWN LIPS.”
-PROVERBS 27:2
Happy customers ____________________________ others about your product or
service is the ______________________ advertisement for your business.
Word of mouth plays a role in ______________________ of all buying decisions.
THREE POWERFUL WAYS TO GET PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS:
1. Be good. “Do you see a man skilled in his work? That man will work for kings. He won’t
have to work for ordinary people.” – Proverbs 22:29
2. Be nice. “One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a
friend.” – Proverbs 22:11
3. Be remarkable. “So David defeated the Philistine with only a sling and a stone! He did
not even have a sword in his hand.” – 1 Samuel 17:50 (Also see 1 Samuel 18:6-7)
real-life examples
1. When you check-in at a DoubleTree hotel, they give you freshly-baked, delicious, warm,
gooey chocolate chip cookie along with your room key.
2. Best-selling author Bob Goff put his phone number in the back cover of his book
“Love Does” inviting people to call him.
3. JetBlue airline is delighting its passengers by offering them unlimited brand-name
snacks, soft drinks, fast internet, seat-back TVs, extra leg room—all for free.
Hey
Bob!
SESSION 7
HOW DO I PRICE MY PRODUCT OR SERVICE?
Profit is the difference
between the money
you take in and the
money you spend.
PROFIT
“BUSINESS IS ALL ABOUT SOLVING PEOPLE’S PROBLEMS – AT A PROFIT.”
- PAUL MARSDEN
These kids
I wonder,
why aren’t
KNOW YOUR NUMBERS
Starting your business will cost you money. Let’s figure out your start-up
costs. Make a list of everything you will need in order to start your business.
Put a smiley face
next to the items you already have, and a star
next to the ones you need to purchase. Be sure to note the prices of the ones
you need to buy.
58

ONGOING EXPENSES
List the items you’ll need each time you make your product or provide your
service and their costs.
COMPETITION
What do your competitors charge for a similar product or service?
59

PUBLIC OPINION
When figuring out what to charge for your product or service, there’s one
more number you may want to consider.
You can’t charge less money than it took you to make your item, but you can’t
charge a lot more than the competition does either, unless your product or
service is superior to theirs (bigger, better, faster, etc.).
At this stage it might be a good idea to interview several of your potential
customers asking them to tell you what they would be willing to pay for your
service or product. Write their answers below.
60

MY PRICE
Carefully look over the numbers on the previous pages and determine what
you’ll need to charge for your product and service (and time) in order to
make a reasonable profit.
61

PROFIT
THE GOAL OF A BUSINESS IS...
• Beautiful website
• Amazing product
• Big email list
• Striking logo
• Clever slogan (tag-line)
• Funny commercials
• Eco-friendly packaging
• Happy employees
• Fun and exciting projects
• Happy customers
• Profit
• Huge social media presence
A business should always focus on _______________________.
Remember, without the ________________________, there is no business.
Spend your time, money, and energy on things that ___________________
your sales and _______________________ your business.
“THE PROMISE OF EVERY PRODUCT
AND SERVICE IS A BETTER LIFE.
PROFITS ARE THE PRIZE FOR
DELIVERING ON THE PROMISE.”
- PATRICK DIXON
62

“Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all
afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come
from one activity or another—or maybe both.”
- ECCLESIASTES 11:6
“All hard work brings a profit, but
mere talk leads only to poverty”
- PROVERBS 14:23
“The plans of the
diligent lead to profit
as surely as haste
leads to poverty. ”
- PROVERBS 21:5
“Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain. Unless
the Lord watches over the city, the
guards stand watch in vain.”
- PSALM 127:1
63

FUN WITH
COINS
COIN TOSS
Place 25 coins in a bowl (this is the “bank”). Set a cup on the floor. Take turns tossing
coins into the cup from 4-6 feet away. Each player gets 5 coins to toss each round.
Those that land inside the cup become part of the player’s stash, while those that land
outside the cup go back to the “bank.” A player with the most coins at the end, wins
the game.
HEADS OR TAILS?
Two or more players sit in a circle and announce their prediction “heads” or “tails.”
One player tosses the coin. Those that made a correct prediction, get a point. Those
who were wrong, get nothing. Keep making predictions and guesses until one player
reaches ten points.
SNATCH THE QUARTER!
Open your right hand (left if you are left handed) and bring it up so that it is on your
right shoulder, with the palm facing upwards. Place a quarter on your elbow. Quickly
swing your elbow down and try to catch the quarter in your hand. Did you catch it?
Can you do it with two, five, ten quarters stacked up on your elbow?
20 OUT
Place 20 coins on the table. Each player may pick up one, two, or three coins per turn.
The person who picks up the last coin is the winner.
PENNY DROP
Stretch the 1-layer napkin over the top of the cup and
use the rubber band to hold it in place. Place a penny on
the napkin. Players take turns poking holes with the tip
of a pen. The player who pokes the hole that causes the
penny to drop into the cup, loses the game.
64

SESSION 8
HOW CAN THE MONEY I MAKE
IMPROVE OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES?
Your biggest joy will
come not from the
money you make for
yourself, but from the
difference you make in
other people’s lives.
WHY IS GIVING SO IMPORTANT?
Making money is fun. Having money is fun. Spending money is fun, yet…
Money has a ___________________ side. Money is always trying to become the
most ________________________ thing in your life. If you’re not careful, you will
get bit by a pesky pest called _____________________. The only way to keep
greed away from you is through the practice of _________________________.
• What percentage from each sale will you give away?
• Who or what would you like to support with your money?
• Why is this (cause, project, person or organization) important to you?
67

GENEROSITY
GENEROSITY IS...
• _______________________ everything lightly, being ready to let go and give.
• ____________________ about other people’s needs as well as our own.
• __________________________ some of our wants and desires to help meet
others’ needs.
• ________________________ the loving kindness of God to the world around us.
• ________________________ our gratitude for all God has given us.
• God’s way of taking care of people who have less — ________________________.
“What I kept I lost. What I spent I had. What I gave I have.”
- PERSIAN PROVERB
68
“Anyone who has been
stealing must steal no
longer, but must work,
doing something useful
with their own hands,
that they may have
something to share
with those in need.”
- EPHESIANS 4:28

WHEN WE GIVE, WE....
• Break the power of money, ___________________________ our hearts along the way.
• Reflect the very ___________________________ of God — His over the top love — to
the world around us.
• Act as God’s ____________________________________, letting His resources flow
through our open hands to change someone’s life.
THE ANCIENT PATTERN
When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to
get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your
God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second
time. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow.
When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again.
Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow.
– DEUTERONOMY 24:19-21
69

WANNA TAKE THIS
GENEROSITY THING
FOR A TEST DRIVE?
EVERY DAY OF THIS WEEK MAKE SOMEONE’S
DAY BY GIVING SOMETHING AWAY. LET’S GO!
DAY 1: Give the gift of time. Give up one of your regular “me-time” activities
(like watching a TV show or playing a video game) and spend this time with
someone special, doing something they like to do.
DAY 2: Give the gift of stuff. Check out your closet, your piggy bank, or your
toy chest. What will you give away to put a smile on someone’s face?
DAY 3: Give the gift of words. Do you know any kind, caring, and generous
people who are making a difference in your life? Tell them how much you
appreciate them. If they’re not near, call them or send them a note.
DAY 4: Give the gift of service. Is there anyone who could use a helping hand
from you? Well, step in and help (without being asked)!
DAY 5: Give the gift of hospitality. Invite someone into your home. Make them
feel welcome by offering some snacks and drinks, playing some games or
watching a movie together.
DAY 6: Give the gift of food. Pack extra food in your lunch or throw in
some extra snacks and share with someone at work or school; or surprise
somebody with some homemade treats.
DAY 7: Give the gift of attention. Turn off the TV or music, put down your toys
and gadgets, and simply listen to the person who is wanting to
talk to you. Give them your full and undivided attention.
70

HARD CONVERSATIONS
Who is the most
generous person
you know?
Can you remember one
time someone’s generosity
deeply touched your life?
On a scale from 1 to
10 how generous is
our family?
How does it make you
feel when someone
shares with you?
Do we know of any
people that our family
could help in some way?
What do you think God
wants you to do when you
see someone is in need?
(Hint: 1 John 3:16-18)
What scares you
the most about
generosity?
What excites you
the most about
generosity?
Look around at all the things you have.
Look in your rooms, closets, toy boxes,
basement, garage, kitchen—everywhere!
What can you do without? Are there things
that you’re bored with that could bring joy
to someone if you gave them away? Choose
some things to give away this week.
