Berlin is a city of science and research. Here you can find the
right partner for every R&D project. Comprehensive know-how
for the development of new technology solutions and the fast
transfer of research results into innovative products is offered
by the Berlin Center for Digital Transformation, which brings
together the four closely cooperating Fraunhofer Institutes in
Berlin.
Four Berlin universities and various universities of applied
sciences and research institutions cover a wide range of
technologies. In addition, the Digital Lean and Technology
Application Labs at HTW Berlin, which are greatly in demand,
offer an excellent test environment for applied research projects.
A number of private and public initiatives promote extensive
networking. An example of this is the IoT de:hub, a consortium
of companies, startups, university institutions and company
builders that operates as part of the Digital Hub Initiative of
the Federal Ministry of Economics. 60 % of Berlin's manufacturing
companies successfully implement digitization projects on an
ongoing basis.

INNOVATION
Berlin is used by the majority of all DAX companies as a
destination for their corporate startup programs, innovation
labs or software development centers: Among others, Bosch
Software Innovations (BSI) has created an inspiring work
environment for more than 250 experts with the Bosch IoT
Campus, to work on solutions for example from the areas of
Industry 4.0, connected mobility, smart cities and smart homes.
With more than 500 Mio Euro, Siemens is developing a pioneering
future and innovation campus for the group at its largest
production site in the world – Siemensstadt 2 . At the Wernervon-Siemens
Centre for Industry and Science, more than 20
partners from industry and science are working on the
development of future-oriented production technologies.
The market leader for heating and cooling technology, Viessmann,
is also an exemplary source of inspiration for the digital
transformation “made in Berlin” with its Company Builder Wattx
and the Shared Innovation Ecosystem Maschinenraum.
