April is our Annual<br />

Meet<strong>in</strong>g month where<br />

the new committee was<br />

voted <strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> outgo<strong>in</strong>g<br />

President, Di Jones,<br />

welcomed <strong>in</strong> the new<br />

President, Meena Khiroya.<br />

be delivered by Clare, to <strong>in</strong>clude a socially distanced<br />

<strong>and</strong> protected doorstep chat.<br />

It is also time to reflect on the year’s events <strong>and</strong> report<br />

back to members. So, under President Di’s calm<strong>in</strong>g, car<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

<strong>and</strong> competent leadership; <strong>and</strong> with the guaranteed<br />

support of a wonderfully committed committee who<br />

have responded to lockdown challenges it is amaz<strong>in</strong>g just<br />

how much we have managed to achieve.<br />

We have been pro-active, <strong>in</strong>clusive, acted on<br />

suggestions from members, engaged <strong>in</strong>dividuals to share<br />

their skills <strong>in</strong> competitions, responded to appeals for PPE<br />

<strong>and</strong> embraced the ideals of the wider WI community with<br />

‘Show the Love’ campaign. With a weekly Zoom Chat<br />

Room, <strong>and</strong> regular Newsletter’s shar<strong>in</strong>g members stories,<br />

we hope members feel that the committee has kept them<br />

<strong>in</strong>formed, offered friendship, provided opportunities to<br />

make new friends, participate <strong>and</strong> socialise, despite Covid<br />

restrictions. If so, then the committee have had a<br />

successful year, ensur<strong>in</strong>g a vibrant, <strong>in</strong>clusive <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>teractive Club that have kept abreast of challeng<strong>in</strong>g<br />

times.<br />

To thank members for renew<strong>in</strong>g their membership the<br />

committee put together a “Meet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a Bag” conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

gifts of a cake, chocolate egg, free <strong>in</strong>vitation to an<br />

Afternoon Tea, raffle ticket, bookmark <strong>and</strong> lots of<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation. Six of us met at Shoal Hill to share out the<br />

items <strong>in</strong>to goody bags. But it was also a good excuse to<br />

have cake <strong>and</strong> a flask of coffee. Then it was off to do<br />

doorstep deliveries to delighted members.<br />

Our W.I. meet<strong>in</strong>gs are on the second Thursday of the<br />

month 10.30am at St Luke’s Church Centre, <strong>Cannock</strong>.<br />

Visitors are always welcome to come <strong>and</strong> jo<strong>in</strong> us for<br />

refreshments <strong>and</strong> a chat- but not for a while – wait for<br />
