ART IN THE PARK

DURING THE

PANDEMIC

Not everything was bad during the pandemic, as is

evidenced by the variety of new murals that now

grace Regional Park. At the beginning of the shutdown,

three local artists created a wonderful chalk

art mural at Recreation Park. This surprise gift inspired

an ARD Board member to put a call out to

local artists to see if they would be willing to donate

their time to add art to Regional Park. This call was

well received, and ARD was blessed with beautiful

new creations by several local artists.

3

Of course this new art has inspired more artists to

reach out to ARD, and we are excited to provide even

more art in the months to come. Artists interested in

adding to the collection should contact Kahl Muscott

at kmuscott@auburnrec.com

Recently, the Auburn Recreation District entered in to

a contract with Centrica Business Solutions to provide

optimized and upgraded energy systems in a manner

that is budget-neutral to the District, per California

Government Code §4217. What does that mean to our

park users? That means that ARD will be installing

many new features that will make us much more energy

efficient, with the savings from these efficiencies paying

for the costs to install them.

These features include putting solar panels on new carports

at four different parks, installing new LED lighting

on the ballfields at Recreation Park, installing upgraded

plumbing throughout the District, and improving several

aspects of the system that keeps our pools open

and operating. These upgrades will be with ARD for

years to come, and continue to provide upgraded and

reliable energy for the community.
