ANA-NY Organizational Affiliate Spotlight<br />

ANA-NY welcomes newest organizational affiliate.<br />

Nigerian <strong>Nurse</strong>s Association of USA Inc.<br />

“<strong>Nurse</strong>s Dedicated to promoting health in their communities”<br />

Nigerian <strong>Nurse</strong>s Association of USA (NNAUSA), is<br />

a non-profit organization, registered as 501(c) (3) taxexempt<br />

organization. The organization was started on<br />

April 27, 2002 out of the need of our community. It was<br />

observed that many Nigerians were neglectful of their<br />

health and as a result, developing preventable chronic<br />

diseases and dying from them. The mission of NNAUSA is<br />

to improve the health of the communities that NNAUSA<br />

serve by: (a). Promoting health, increasing health<br />

literacy and providing free health screening to Nigerian<br />

Community and other Communities in the United States<br />

of America, the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other<br />

African countries. (b). Encouraging and assisting members<br />

to attain the highest professional standard and seek<br />

greatest height through education and mentoring.<br />

The purpose of NNAUSA is to serve as an organization<br />

that meets the health needs of Nigerian communities in<br />

the United States & Africa, and to uphold the image and<br />

foster the welfare of Nigerian <strong>Nurse</strong>s as a professional<br />

group.<br />

NNAUSA objectives are to:<br />

(i) Assist Nigerian community in making healthy<br />

lifestyle changes necessary by providing<br />

information needed to make informed decisions.<br />

(ii)<br />

Promote health maintenance and wellbeing<br />

among Nigerians and other communities in the<br />

United States and in Nigeria<br />

(iii) Secure funding through fund raising, donations<br />

and grants to support NNAUSA Programs.<br />

(iv) Foster educational and professional growth<br />

among Nigerian nurses living in USA and in<br />

Nigeria through networking and mentoring.<br />

(v)<br />

Assist newly migrated Nigerian nurses and<br />

Nigerian nursing students to adapt to nursing<br />

profession in the United States.<br />

(vi) Unite all Nigerian <strong>Nurse</strong>s in the United States<br />

towards promoting the highest standard of<br />

professional practice, educational, cultural<br />

advancement and socio-economic stability.<br />

(vii) Provide forum or avenue where Nigerian <strong>Nurse</strong>s<br />

in United States speak with one voice, uphold the<br />

international code of nursing ethics, promote and<br />

support the laws or reforms on matters affecting<br />

nursing.<br />

(viii) Collaborate with other organizations in<br />

addressing current issues of health care in<br />

Nigeria such as, but not limited to HIV/AIDS,<br />

Genital Mutilation, Communicable Diseases,<br />

Mental Health, Women’s and Children’s Health,<br />

Gerontological Health and Rural Health.<br />

MEMBERSHIP:<br />

Membership of NNAUSA shall be open to any Nigerian<br />

Professional Registered <strong>Nurse</strong> (RN), living in the United<br />

States.<br />

health of the Nigerian community in United States and<br />

mission of improving the health and wellbeing of<br />

Nigerians at home and abroad. You can also connect with<br />

the <strong>Nurse</strong>s and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)<br />

through NNAUSA.<br />

The Niagara University School of Nursing is seeking<br />

outstanding nursing faculty candidates for both<br />

the Traditional 4-year Undergraduate and<br />

Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Nursing Programs.<br />

The Assistant Professor positions are full-time tenure<br />

track based on Niagara University Lay Teachers<br />

Association (NULTA) requirements.<br />

The successful candidates will engage in excellence in<br />

academic endeavors including class instruction, clinical<br />
