Runners pour into<br />

Hanmer for races<br />

More than1140 competitors<br />

took part in Saturday’s three<br />

racesstaged as part of the<br />

Hanmer 4Square Half<br />

Marathon.<br />

Competitors were mainly<br />

from Christchurch, with20<br />

percent from the <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> area,and similar<br />

numbers fromthe <strong>North</strong><br />

Island, including Auckland,<br />

Rotorua and Wellington.<br />

The events, which<br />

comprised the half­marathon<br />

plus a10km race and a5km<br />

race,were heldbyHanmer<br />

Events as partofthe Hanmer<br />

Springs CommunityTrust to<br />

raisefunds for the Hanmer<br />

community.<br />
