POMMERY CUVÉE LOUISE –

Already in 1858 Madame Pommery very aptly noted that a

glass of cooled champagne is the highlight of any given moment.

La qualité d‘abord! 160 years later we are still working

on her idea of quality and taste and continue with the Pommery

way of indulgence and innovation.

To clear our way towards refinement and perfection,

Pommery has appointed a new chef de cave for the champagne

house from Reims who has already overseen the

maison’s 2017 harvest. Clément Pierlot is the maison’s

10th winemaker and takes over from Thierry Gasco, who

now directs Pommery’s sparkling winemaking in California,

England and the South of France. Pierlot has been a

vineyard director at the Vranken-Pommery Monopole

since 2004, joining the company at the age of 24. Due to

Clément’s daily involvement with wine development and

his proven environmental commitment, it was certain for

Paul-François Vranken that he was a natural choice to become

the 10th cellar director for Champagne Pommery.

Indeed, 2004 was a decisive year for Pommery – regarding

our future development and our development in taste. So

Pommery has taken the unusual step to also create a brut

nature version of the Cuvée Louise 2004. The second Cuvée

Louise to be released from that year, this version of the

house’s prestige line has no sugar added at all rather than

the usual low dosage. It has been singled out as one of the

best vintages of the decade and, according to winemaker

Thierry Gasco, having no sugar dosage accentuates the linear

freshness and chalky intensity of the wine which makes

it a natural partner for the iodine saltiness of Belon oysters

or razor clams.

In the tradition of Pommery Nature 1874, Cuvée Louise

is the only cuvée with so little sugar or no sugar at all,

respectively. Thus the wine embodies exceptional purity.

Behind this apparent simplicity, however, there are unique

processes tended to at each stage of the wine’s elaboration

that ensure that Cuvée Louise is the quintessence of the inhouse

style. It is an elegant, mature wine, featuring flavours

of roasted almonds as well as fruit. Full of minerals, thanks

to their high concentration in chardonnay, this ripe wine is

very ready to drink. So Madame Pommery has set the stage

for a unique idea of champagne. By means of this new Cuvée

Louise Pommery has added the choice of sans dosage to the

mix to take the tasting experience of all champagne lovers

even further.

Pommery‘s prestigious champagne Cuvée Louise is named

after Madame Pommery, who took over the company when

her husband, Alexandre Pommery, died. The Cuvée Louise

was first created in 1979 and, just as Madame Pommery

would have demanded, is a product of the very best plots in

the Pommery vineyards that are reserved specifically for this

prestigious cuvée. “We source the grapes from three Grand

Cru vineyards in Champagne, with citrusy freshness and intensity

of chardonnay from Avize and Cramant, and the power

and structure of pinot noir from Aÿ,” explains Clément

Pierlot, Pommery’s wine maker.

When he’s not shooting in a far

flung location for the world’s most

iconic luxury car brands; Porsche,

Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin,

Stephan is pushing his own art to the

absolute extreme.

Light is his medium and the landscapes

of the world are his canvas.

Outside of his busy diary of commercial

client work, you’ll often find

Stephan high up in a helicopter edging

on the extreme limit of closeness

to the most spectacular glaciers and

mountain peaks of New Zealand

or on spontaneous reconnaissance

hikes down in the undergrowth of

the wilderness.

All the extreme angles and incredible

perspective add up to a unique

signature style that powerfully connects

with many all over the world

says his wife, Nadine who oversees

three Romer galleries located in

Dusseldorf, Queenstown and now,

Auckland.

“Literally everyone that walks in is

moved and simply blown away by

Stephan’s art – it’s like it’s alive.”

Pieces of his luxury art have been

purchased by all sorts of admirers

from Billionaires to an Arab Sheik

to hard working locals who save up

especially.

Classically trained in industrial design

before becoming a professional

photographer, Romer innately

knows the influence of the golden

ratio on his art however admits that

he doesn’t try to have it looking too

harmonious in his compositions.

What he’s after is stunning contrasts

of light and textures on the ground.

“I’d rather put the camera further

down than what you would normally

do and shoot towards the horizon.

The lower the sun, the more

dramatic the outcome” he says.

The depth and expanse of the final

result, even in some cases when he

only had 30 seconds of light leaves

many asking “is that a painting or a

real photo?”

“You push your luck a lot” Romer

says admitting sometime sit works,

sometime it doesn’t.

His personal work released catalogues

big intense skies and extraordinary

sights produced by Mother

Nature that most people only dream

about seeing.

Many of his shoot locations are true

wild territories. Like the Mt Aspiring

area, home to interconnecting

glaciers in New Zealand’s Southern

Lakes doesn’t even have a hiking

track or single road.

There are so many remote valleys

that nobody has been yet, I think

that is very special and something

you hardly get on this planet especially

these days.”

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand

words. Romer’s panoramas are

perspex windows to the world – the

ultimate birds’ eye view that will

leave you literally speechless.

SMSANZ Alumni Networking Event in Partnership

Network Singapore, SMSANZ

(Singapore Medical Society of

Australia and New Zealand) recently

kicked off the new year

with the SMSANZ Alumni Networking

Event on the 10th of

January 2018. The event was held

at a cozy and posh venue provided

by De Dietrich in one of their

humble showrooms in Ubi.

The attendees

were graced with

the presence

of their guest

speaker, Dr.

Chia Shi Lu, who

holds the position

of Deputy

Head and Senior

Consultant at

the Department

of Orthopaedic

Surgery at the

Singapore General

Hospital. He

is also one of the

Members of Parliament

for Tanjong

Pagar GRC.

Dr. Chia provided

a number

of insights into the healthcare

system and advice for the young

doctors-to-become. Opportunities

to interact with such an influential

yet amiable person were

seized by many of the attendees,

alongside a night of mouth-watering

tapas courtesy of Chef

Iskandar and the team from Coriander

Leaf. The guests have

experienced the art of cooking

anew with Chef Iskander. Chef

Iskander and his team whipped

up delectable canapés on the

spot for the guests, including a

live cooking demo for a green

mango and grilled chicken salad

with the help of some members.

The drinks served were from

To top it off, there was an amazing

Get-together

After the festive season The Luxury Network

Germany members community came together

for their traditional New Year Kick-off

Event, enjoying some inspirational highlights.

The hospitable Kameha Suite Frankfurt acted as a

co-host and greeted all fellow network partners for

the third time in their palatial villa. This TLN member

always offers with its unique venue and prestigious

environment the perfect set-up for a successful

meeting.

On this year’s prelude of the agenda the reputable

keynote speaker Bert Ohnemüller gave inspiring

insight views to his long-standing findings and experiences

of the technical term “Neuromerchandising“.

The author of LEAD – SPEAK – INSPIRE, Coach,

Consultant of several enterprises and Lecturer at

various universities in Germany and abroad fully

captured his audience by showing new perspectives

of the topic “Emotion – How to deal with other humans

and your own self”.

During the subsequent workshop all creative

thoughts and ideas had been amalgamated into

concrete new affinity projects. This secures a solid

professional tool for all members to pursue their exciting

win-win situations, which will be continuously

realized by The Luxury Network in 2018.

North Adventure Cruises

On Friday, the 12th of January, True North

Adventure Cruises invited guests and

members of The Luxury Network South

Australia on-board their True North cruise boat.

Bird in Hand, Kanga Corporate Charters, Mike

Annese Photography and 2KW’s The Pontoon

supported the stylish event.

Guests arrived at The Pontoon bar along the River

Torrens then transferred by Kanga’s Signature

Series Supercoach to True North in the Flinders

Harbour at Port Adelaide. Once on-board the

finest wine, food and hospitality were on offer

and guests taken on a virtual tour.

As the sun set, guests were transported back to

2KW Bar and Restaurant to enjoy the night views

atop Adelaide’s iconic rooftop bar.

The SuperFoiler Grand Prix

On February 2nd, 2KW Restaurant & Bar presented

the exciting new SuperFoiler Grand

Prix event with The Luxury Network South

Australia members and guests with supporting

brands Bird in Hand, Kanga Corporate Charters and

Mike Annese Photography.

Guests were transferred from the iconic Adelaide

rooftop to the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron

onboard Kanga’s Signature Series Supercoach,

equipped with a Bird in Hand wine bar. Mike Annese

Photography was on board to capture the international

sailing experience.

Viewing the race from the elite ‘Strictly Business’

yacht, guests were greeted with an impressive array

food and beverages while enjoying the high-speed catamaran

racing. When the racing concluded the guests

were transported back to 2KW’s rooftop in style.

Winter Seminar 2018

The first seminar of the year was hosted by 12 Hay

Hill, Mayfair’s latest premier Business Membership

Club, and one our latest UK members.

Hosting the seminar enabled 12 Hay Hill to showcase

their club, and provided a discount for The Luxury

Network members when joining.

The seminar brought Luxury brand members together

to meet and discuss future potential partnership

projects and collaborations. Guests were presented

to from both new and existing members including;

Sunseeker London, Berkeley Homes, Home Move

Consultants, Holiday Luxury, Eight Ray Music, ITC

Luxury Travel, 3 St James’s Square and Red Eye Events.

The Luxury Network holds quarterly B2B seminars

at differing locations, for decision-making representatives

from member brands to build relationships

and plan unique partnerships, as part of their

annual membership. The seminars are proven to be

really important part of the membership benefit as

it enables members to meet face-to-face and discuss

partnerships that will roll out in the upcoming

months.

Glamorous Diplomatic Council Gala 2018

International dignitaries from diplomacy, business

and society got together in the time-honored

halls of the prestigious Frankfurt Grandhotel

Hessischer Hof for the glamorous Diplomatic

Council Gala 2018. This year`s gala served as the

global meeting point, not only for the European,

but also for the valued members traveling from the

USA and Asia. The Grandhotel Hessischer Hof itself

joined the Diplomatic Council four years ago

as a member and has ever since hosted the DC gala

providing the ideal setting for a fabulous and magnificent

celebration.

For the first time, the Diplomatic Council is delighted

to welcome a German Ambassador, namely

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Heinrich Kreft, to the Diplomatic

Council Board of Presidents. The newly appointed

president delivered a speech on how diplomacy

and business interact for the benefit of the

community and society. He was much applauded

for his belief that the world needs economic diplomacy

and praised the Diplomatic Council for doing

exactly this.

this year`s gala, he gave a short and sweet speech

thanking the Diplomatic Council and its members

for the warm welcome to the organization. As a

thank you, Sascha`s company TwentyFourSeven

Cosmetics sponsored a farewell bag with exclusive

cosmetics for all participants.

The solemn inauguration of DC Business Consul,

Mme Claude Piel, marked another highlight. In her

speech, Claude Piel talked about her experiences

as an international journalist. Her work has led her

to many horrible places in the world where she

has witnessed poverty, misery, abuse and crimes

so she has decided to dedicate her time, her resources

and all her energy to promote peace and

DC Business Ambassador Dr. Thomas Durchlaub

and Annette Habermann have become the first

godparents for a girl and a boy in Sri Lanka and will

finance the studies of these two orphans. Members

Innovator (GMI) was awarded

to the British-American company

RTAd. The GMI recognizes

the best media innovation

of the year. RTAd`s CEO Simon

received an art piece especially

created for the GMI winner

by famous artist Ulrike Bolenz.

London Boat Show 2018:

The Value of Collaboration Between Luxury Brands

The world-famous London Boat Show welcomed

347 exhibitors and boasted 65 boat and

product launches in mid January. The Luxury

Network Members, Sunseeker London, partnered

with a fellow member, award winning Interior Design

House Alexander James Interiors who ‘enriched

their strong display of stunning Sunseeker boats

with their luxurious touch.’

Christopher Head, Sales Director of Sunseeker London,

went on to say ‘it is so important that we have

these strong brand partnerships. Boat Shows are

some of the most important dates in our calendar,

and during that time we need to showcase everything

we do to the nth degree. AJI’s design team are

fabulous at understanding what works on our boats.

Their attention to detail and flare means they get it

right every time.”

Other luxury brands that participated in the collaboration

with Sunseeker London to enhance the

Sunseeker experience included; Jo Malone, Fleurs

De Paris, Boodles, Chase Distillery, and luxury

French champagne house Laurent Perrier.

Sunseeker also opened up their event to Luxury

Network members, as a way for members to have a

further understanding of Sunseeker as a company

and to further realise ways in which to collaborate.

It proved to be a successful way that other members

could also bring their clients too.

Breakfast Briefing

New member, Iberostar, hosted an interactive

breakfast briefing for The Luxury Network

UK members for the launch of their

new 5-star property: Grand Portals Nous – Mallorca.

Commercial Director, Geraldine Gomboshaw,

presented the new property that is launching next

month. Attendees were able to see and hear what

the impressive hotel will have on offer. It provided

an opportunity to discuss potential partnership

opportunities with the Iberostar luxury group. It

proved to be a successful event as every member

that attended was eager to work with Iberostar

and found ways in which they could collaborate.

The Luxury Network will host an event in summer

at the Grand Portals Nous- Mallorca, in order to

enable members to truly witness the experience

that the hotel offers. The event was hosted at fellow

member, 3 St. James’s Square’s, venue illustrating

the multiple ways that members can work

together.
