HICF Ladies Fellowship is an arm of Haikou International

Christian Fellowship in Hainan Province, Haikou City, China.

The Ladies Fellowship was founded by Devi Chandra under the

leading of the Holy Spirit in the year 2016 to raise up and build

Ladies to be rooted in Christ, empowered to fulfil purpose and

set up to make a change in this generation.

The Ladies Fellowship is 6 years, Glory to God! It comprises of

over 100 Ladies from different part of the world, with different

languages, ethnicity, educational background, color and race

but with the same objective of worshipping God and making

impact in their generation.

10. What was the most difficult

photoshoot you have ever done and how

did you handle it?

the most difficult shoot I had was a

wedding shoot ,where I had to model with

a chinese male and for the shoot we were

told we had to pretend to be a couple. It

was difficult in the beginning so I asked to

spend some time with him so that we could

both establish a friendship.

11. How do you maintain

uncomfortable position for a long time?

I ask my photographers to play music so

that I don’t really focus on the pose

so many challenges it could be racism,

could be the photographers, diet etc. there

are so many challenges that come with it

but all you have to do is focus on what’s

important to you, get inspiration from that

and be hardworking

the decision on whether to do the shoot or

Have to realize that too many times

what we are looking for is right beside

us we just have to submit our will. I am

not here to tell you about unattainable

to impossible living

standards but at

least to share the

importance of a

real

relationship

with God; no not the one you tell your

friends about but the one where He

loves you unconditionally and you grow

closer to him organically.

I grew up a church girl; I mean Sunday

school material, youth camp, there was

even a time I was playing a part in a

Christmas play; typical I tell you. With my

Granma’, Mom and aunts and uncles

discipline it would be safe to assume I

would be a perfect little Christian girl

right? Wrong. See no matter how much

the Word of God is spoken to you if you

have not made it a personal thing it will

fall. I had to make a decision at some

point in my life to contact

God daily: then a few

times during the day:

before I do anything in

the morning: before I

leave the house: then when am back...it’s

not easy every day because our schedule

sometimes go as far as requiring a 10

minutes shower so imagine if you have

to do it all whilst Praying but one thing

for sure is that it is do-able. I have never

started my day or slept without Praying

even when am angry or going through

I GREW MY HAIR WITH RICE WATER

IN ONE WEEK

AGATHA (ZAMBIA)

I have been

natural for 10

years now but

technically, I only

really focused on

my hair when I

came to China in

2017. Sounds weird, I know but in my

country Zambia, once you attend a

government run school your hair has to be

natural and that’s when I became natural.

Maintaining natural hair doesn’t come easy,

you need to be patient and consistent.

When I first started in 2017 I tried

fermented rice water, protective styles and

a hair food mix containing: castor oil, Indian

People have different ways on how they

make the fermented rice water but for me

the method that works best is boiling the

rice for 5 to 10 minutes then separating

water from the rice. I then put the rice

water without the rice in a spray bottle and

instead of adding fruit peels for the smell

(any fruit in the orange family), I put in

some conditioner then keep it aside and

wait for a week before I can use it.

When it comes to maintaining my natural

hair, I first start with detangling with a

medium bristled comb and a spray bottle

with conditioner, castor oil and water and

section my hair in four. The second thing I

do is spray in the fermented rice water from

the roots to the tips and keep it in for 25 to

30 minutes then wash my hair. And within

a month I can see some improvement in

hair growth. Lately I have been trying the

ORS brand, when it comes to shampoo,

conditioner and hair treatment.




The hair treatment detangles my hair and

leaves it really soft and I’m still planning on

trying the hair oil and edge control. Plus I

love the smell.

With my hair still

sectioned, I rinse out the

rice water and then wash

with shampoo twice for

each section. I then apply

the hair treatment and finger

comb while waiting for 10 to 20

minutes before rinsing it all out. To dry my

hair I use a T-shirt instead of a towel.

With my hair still damp, I put in the

conditioner in each section of the hair then

I do a protective style which for me is

usually 8 to 10 three strand braids and on a

lazy day it’s only 2 strand braids. While I’m

doing my braids I put in the hair food. When

it comes to hair food I like oils and at the

moment I’m using castor oil, vitamin E and

melted Shea butter. When applying the oils

I like to make sure my hair is a bit damp. I

start from the root to the tips and this is

done every two days.

I usually trim my hair after 6

months. When it comes to

trimming I prefer doing it

when it’s damp and not dry.

I first section it in four then

comb through and trim 1cm

of my hair.

NOT EVERYTHING THAT WORKS FOR ME

WILL WORK FOR YOU

Lastly, for those who are thinking of going

natural or starting their natural hair journey,

the best thing to remember is to be patient.

Not everything that works for me will work

for you, everyone has different hair types.

But just because you’re not seeing

improvement immediately doesn’t mean

you should give up. You can research to

help you find what works for you and

don’t be afraid to try new methods and

products that will help keep your hair

healthy and promote growth.

nowadays that lots of people get married

yet lots of them go for a divorce. And

public opinion be like: "it's better to quit

than to be in a toxic marriage" wow! Who

made it toxic? Remember it takes two;

three with God. We know that God's

original plan was never for us, his beloved

children to get in and out of marriages

(Matthew 19:8). It is meant to be till death

do you part! So how do you make that

choice?

acquires all the knowledge she can.

Knowing what you are getting into is really

important. From my inquiries and people's

testimonies, I gathered that one cause of

most failed marriages is they weren't ready,

not enough preparation, they didn't

actually know what they were getting into.

They only "felt loved". It's our responsibility

to acquire knowledge and it's our

responsibility to teach ourselves about this

issue (Titus 2:3-5). Marriage is a serious and

lifetime commitment so it needs our whole

attention when we are considering it

sometime to come. For example,

Selflessness, a quality that is highly

recommended in marriage. Before you say

I do, be ready to let your "self" down to

carry your future spouse

desires at your highest

priorities. You live for the

other, to serve and be

God's intended plan for

Him. Marriage is not for the arrogant and

proud, nor the babies. You will have to

embrace change and learn to be joyful and

content at what ever stage of your

relationship. Engage in conversations on

the matter, with elders, successful married

couples, spiritual leaders, parents; Read on

it; there are a lot of Christian books on

marriage and obviously the Bible which is

the BASE. Train your mind, discipline

yourself, nurture good habits expected of a

good wife, be prepared, be close to God

and consequently, sensitive to the Holy

Spirit. While you are pursuing God and

preparing for marriage, walking in purpose,

enjoying every moment of your own life, Mr.

Right might just pop in!

for everyone the same way.

Some might receive

instructions from God, some conviction,

some Peace, but NEVER Confusion.

Dating:

For the few friends I have and people I talk

to, they know I always say, there's no need

getting into a relationship you know has no

future. You don't date for the sake of

dating, but you date with a purpose.

Dating's primary intention must be

marriage. On a daily basis, we declare this

word: " I am beautifully and wonderfully

made" yet, we let ourselves be duped by

unserious men. No one should come to you

and "try to see" if it works, "if it leads to

marriage". In such circumstances, ladies

will mostly end up broken-hearted. YOU

ARE NOT AN EXPERIMENT SAMPLE!

If you date the right one, it will most likely

end well. But relationships have their own

challenges, so it's good to have people you

both are accountable to, people that can

guide you through your courtship and give

you godly advices. And well, my dear sisters,

if something doesn't feel right, deal with it

before saying YES , to that man. Some ladies

say Yes, just because they've been dating

and people are aware; they care about

what people will say if they don't end up

being married. My mom once told me:

"Even Engagement can be broken, until

you've said I Do, you can still back off". It

sounds funny but truly, it's better to end it

before you go into marriage with it and it

ends you. Of course, while dating, you

spend time with God, hear his voice and

recommendations regarding your

relationship. I will not tell you to consider a

Christian brother or to avoid sexual

immorality here, because we all already

know those are the ABC's of a Christian

relationship, so they are important as well.

Be mindful of things that might hinder your

relationship with God, because at this

phase of your life, you need him more than

ever.

The goal of every student is to

achieve academic excellence during

their period of stay in school. This

dream is highly attainable, though it

doesn‘t come on a bed of roses.

Several people have written about

attaining academic excellence, but

none of them has been able to bring

up a clear-cut procedure to follow to

achieve it.

Academic excellence is a journey

that requires time to mature.

However, there are principles one

needs to use as a guide to attaining

excellence.

First, in a journey of academic

excellence, we cannot exclude the

God factor. The first principle we

need to follow is to allow God to be

our direction in all that we do in our

schoolwork. He is the embodiment of

all knowledge, and it is prudent that

we put our trust in him, even as we

make him the leader and follow suit.

Without God, this whole academic

journey might look like going on a

trip without a map or a guide. Since he

is all-knowing, it is expedient to rely

on him.

Next, it takes self-discipline to be

able to do anything out of your

comfort zone. As tertiary students,

we need to be self-disciplined to be

able to achieve our goals. We must

have discipline with our time, our

books, social media etc. Time is a

costly currency, which we can never

regain when we spend it. As students,

effective time management should be

our topmost priority. Planning your

time enables you to achieve a lot. For

effective time management, we must

endeavour to follow the plans we

make each day. And there should be

no room for compromise. A small

accommodation can affect your

following schedule. To obtain much

from the time available to you, you

need to make a lot of sacrifices. Most

sacrifices may not be pleasing, but

we must make them. Having to

choose between attending a fun event

and going to the library to study is a

tough decision to make. However,

the goal of making such a decision

should revolve around academic

improvement.

Self-motivation is another crucial

component that will help students

achieve academic excellence. Always

have a positive mindset about

everything. Encourage yourself,

know yourself, your weaknesses, and

your strengths. Strive to project your

it feels like you are losing confidence.

Keep on pushing.

Consistency is a golden rule to

achieving brilliance. Being

consistent in your studies is therefore

crucial. Never let a day pass without

you studying. Set a convenient time

for yourself for tasks and ensure to

read your books during that time.

Allocate appropriate time for your

studies each day and be sure to abide

by it. It can be just 30 mins in a day,

habit of procrastination, it does not

get your work done, and the time you

It would be best if you surrounded

yourself with friends who also aim to

achieve academic excellence. Bad

company corrupts good manners.

Avoid friends who do not see their

books as their priority and are

frivolous. It is better to be “alone”

without friends than to be swayed

from your goal. There are people

with similar experiences as you, so

reach out to such people and seek

their expertise and advice concerning

your situation. It is not always

compulsory to follow their advice

rigidly. You can make adjustments to

suit your particular circumstance.

As students, we have to develop a

healthy balance between our

academic work and other

extracurricular activities. Although

you are not required to be with your

books 24/7, it is necessary not to

have so many extra-curriculum

activities competing with your

academic life.

As Christians, we are obliged to

participate in church activities but try

as much as possible not to let that

affect our academics. Always

remember that the reason why you

came to school is to learn. All other

things are secondary.

Social media are quickly taking over

our generation. While social media

platforms can be educative, we

should not allow ourselves to be “

slaves” to their distractions. If you

are already addicted to social media,

there are some steps to remedy this.

You can employ alarms and timers to

monitor your time on each social

media app. Once you have exhausted

your time, the app will automatically

close. Try to be disciplined enough

not to return to them later. You can

also inform trusted friends to check

up on you frequently to help you

monitor and keep you accountable

for the time spent away from your

books.

Examinations are an inevitable part

of our academic journey. Therefore,

you should be in a perpetual state of

preparation. Effective time

management, consistent studies, and

constant practice will enable you to

be ready for every examination.

Please do not wait until they

announce dates for examination

before you rush to revise. In as much

as possible, plan to study each

concept at least twice before every

examination. This habit will not only

help you understand better, but it will

make you less stressed when

examinations are due.

Make it your goal not to fail any

paper throughout your school period.

However, if you do fail, understand

that that is not the end of the journey.

Review the past missteps and make

adjustments for the future.

Afterwards, resolve never to fall into

the same situation again. Your ability

to bounce back after setbacks shows

your resilience and determination.

Therefore, do not be dismayed when

academic work.

Hi Ladies, so today we are going to talk

about a very common pathology amongst

women: breast masses. Some of us have

never had any, thank God, others, like 13

years old me, felt an

abnormal mass in their

breast one morning( it

actually wasn’t a mass,

just normal mammary

tissue , but well) and

proceeded to totally

freak out and tell their grandma, that

made them drink many bitter and

disgusting decoctions for weeks. As the

Bible says “my people perish because of

lack of knowledge “. So let’s sleep a bit

smarter today.

A breast nodule is very common in the

women population. Let me reassure most

of you though, it’s probably not breast

cancer.

The masses can be painful or painless,

according to the cause. It might be due to

a fibrocystic change (usually painful)or a

fibroadenoma ( usually painless). These

types are more common in women during

their puberty and reproductive years.

Now, what matters most, is to be able to

detect such conditions early. The first

thing we need to know, and always keep

in mind:

- know your body, know your breast size,

know your breast symmetry,

know what they look like, what

they feel like (it’s your body,

nobody will judge you for

touching them as often as you

can) get familiar with your

breast, so that you will be able

to pinpoint any change in them .

- do a self breast examination every

month if possible, preferably after your

period since they won’t be tender

anymore. (It’s nothing complicated,

there’s a link to it down at the bottom).

- know your past medical and family

history. A woman with a mother or sister

that had a breast cancer should not think

lightly of any mass, as she too has got an

increase chance of developing a cancer

too.

not. A nipple discharge is not always

proper diagnosis and proper management

as soon as possible.
