<strong>Magazine</strong>. Ever since the day we have launched our network in 2007, followed by the time that we released<br />

our first magazine issue in July 2017, we have always been committed to deliver news that are not only interesting<br />

for our readers, but news that are also sensible, informative, and unbiased. We are now on a total of 12-year<br />

service to the luxury sector and HNW individuals.<br />

We feel ecstatic for the years to come, for we are hopeful that those approaching moments will mold us into<br />

much more credible media personalities and affluent news providers, in order to serve our valuable readers<br />

with incomparable journalism, reports and reviews about the evolving luxury industry.<br />

DESIGN INSPIRATION<br />

Asia Pacific’s leading luxury hotel group, Shangri-La<br />

Hotels and Resorts, opened its first property in the<br />

United Kingdom on 6 May 2014. London’s first elevated<br />

luxury hotel occupies levels 34 to 52 of the<br />

iconic Renzo Piano designed building, <strong>The</strong> Shard.<br />

<strong>The</strong> five-star property offers 202 rooms and suites,<br />

all with unparalleled views, three signature dining<br />

and drinks venues, three river-facing event rooms<br />

as well as an infinity pool and a 24-hour gym on level<br />

have adopted a contemporary approach to present<br />

the sumptuous Oriental motifs, such a fundamental<br />

part of the Shangri-La Hotel brand DNA. Colours,<br />

textures and materials are used to harmonise the<br />

interiors with the cityscape view at each turn.<br />

Entrance Lobby<br />

Upon arrival at the ground floor entrance lobby on<br />

St Thomas Street, guests are greeted by four soaring<br />

feature artworks next to the welcome concierge<br />

desk. A strip of interlock-box-shaped crystal chandelier<br />

illuminates the whole area, adding a sense<br />

of modernity. Along with the lighting and layering<br />

effects, the shimmering gold-shaded artworks, featuring<br />

Chinese ink painting, exhibit the traditional<br />

Chinese poise in an innovative and artistic manner.<br />

<strong>The</strong> simple yet stylish furniture accompanies a pastel<br />

yellow floral-patterned carpet evoking a warm<br />

and cosy atmosphere.<br />

Reception Lobby<br />

Echoing with poetic ambiance, the sky lobby on<br />

level 35 combines the design elements of both East<br />

and West in a seamless fusion. Stepping out of the<br />

lift’s, guests are welcomed by grey marble floors<br />

reflecting unrivalled views of iconic London landmarks<br />

from floor-to-ceiling windows. Together<br />

with the cosy furniture and sculptures in the welcome<br />

area, the lobby presents a harmony of art and<br />

exceptional views. Guests can further enjoy the invigorating<br />

sights of River Thames through the double-height<br />

glass windows as they stroll down the<br />

stairs of the Grand Staircase to the private event<br />

space on level 34.<br />

THE WORLD’S FIRST BITCOIN WATCH<br />

Franck Muller, pioneer luxury watchmaker, renowned<br />

for creating exclusive timepieces characterized by complicated<br />

movements and original designs, announces<br />

the launch of the Encrypto, the world’s first functional<br />

Bitcoin watch.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Encrypto watch was designed by Franck<br />

Muller with the Bitcoin universe in mind. <strong>The</strong><br />

dial itself was tastefully designed using the QR<br />

code of Satoshi’s Genesis Block address.<br />

A custom designed B within an emblem of circuitry,<br />

while the laser etched public wallet address elegantly<br />

sits as a QR code in its polished frame. Customers<br />

can customize both the dial and the band of the watch.<br />

Some models even include precious metals and diamonds<br />

in the dial and frame.<br />

Each timepiece comes as a two piece “Deep Cold Storage”<br />

set, with its own unique public address etched on<br />

the dial and a sealed USB containing the private key.<br />

Users can add their Bitcoin to their wallet or check<br />

their balance directly through the dial.<br />

<strong>The</strong> watch’s QR code and cold storage system were<br />

designed in partnership with Regal Assets, a renowned<br />

crypto investment company with offices in the US,<br />

Canada, the UK and the UAE. Regal Assets made headlines<br />

in 2017 by being the first company to receive a<br />

government-issued license to trade cryptos in its deep<br />

cold storage vault, as covered by Bloomberg.<br />

<strong>The</strong> regional director of Franck Muller, Erol Baliyan,<br />

said: “We always aim to impact the customer at an<br />

emotional level and create a bond between the customer<br />

and the timepiece. As a brand, we are a trend<br />

maker with a solid track record and are not shy when<br />

it comes to adopting innovation. Bitcoin is the millennial<br />

gold is the perfect marriage between innovation<br />

Dubai Mall store. We accept payment by credit card,<br />

<strong>The</strong> watch’s cold storage wallet uses offline generated,<br />

non-deterministic TRNGs (True Random Numbers<br />

Generated) that cannot be hacked. <strong>The</strong> method<br />

for storing Bitcoin is quite popular among hodlers and<br />

early adopters due to its increased security and peace<br />

of mind. Rather than rely on slips of paper, users can<br />

scan the QR code on their watch to check their balance<br />

and deposit BTC in their personal safe, or their<br />

fully insured deep cold storage vault if they are buying<br />

BTC from Regal Assets.<br />

Rimac showcases its C_Two electric hypercar and the technology under its skin<br />

With the testing program that started at the beginning<br />

of the year, the Rimac team continues with hard<br />

work on the development of the C_Two, as they introduce<br />

new technologies, and undergo hundreds of<br />

tests and procedures, making sure that all initial targets<br />

and global homologation requirements are met<br />

and exceeded. Launched last year, the Rimac C_Two is<br />

the world’s most powerful electric hypercar, demonstrating<br />

the company’s expertise in high-performance<br />

vehicle systems. Powered by a four-motor powertrain<br />

system with 1.914 hopsepower and instantly available<br />

2300 Nm of torque, the C_Two accelerates 0-60 mph<br />

in 1.85 seconds, and reaches 300 kph in 11.8 seconds.<br />

<strong>The</strong> 120 kWh battery capacity enables 550 km of range<br />

in WLTP cycle (650 km NEDC). <strong>The</strong>se figures have taken<br />

the world by surprise, but with Rimac’s new development<br />

efforts, the C_Two can, and will, see upgrades.<br />

With prototypes in production, the C_Two will soon<br />

take its final shape, and in 2020 bring its performance<br />

to the streets around the world showing just how far<br />

(and fast!) the technology of the all-electric future can<br />

go.<br />

<strong>The</strong> C_Two displayed throughout Geneva Motor Show<br />

2019 is finished in Galactic White with deep blue tinted<br />

carbon-fibre elements. <strong>The</strong> interior is handcrafted<br />

in-house, with matte carbon fibre complimenting petroleum<br />

blue leather and contrast stitching. This specification<br />

speaks for the elegant, yet electrifying profile<br />

of the C_Two.<br />

When all the dramatic and aerodynamically efficient<br />

design is out of the way, what remains beneath the skin<br />

is equally impressive: the carbon-fibre monocoque<br />

and the powertrain it holds. Designed and engineered<br />

from scratch by Rimac’s in-house team, the C_Two’s<br />

full carbon fibre monocoque is the biggest single carbon-piece<br />

in the industry – with the full battery and<br />

powertrain integrated within the moncoque. Together<br />

individual wheel giving both four-wheel drive and<br />

unprecedented levels of dynamic control. <strong>The</strong> monocoque<br />

is the first of its kind to be made in one piece<br />

and integrating the battery as a structural part, with<br />

front and rear suspension being attached to the same<br />

carbon structure (no sub-frames). To achieve this, a<br />

highly complex structure and material mix with 2.200<br />

plys, 222 aluminum inserts and multi-curing process<br />

were necessary. <strong>The</strong> highly complex design and development<br />

deliver a result that is light and exceptionally<br />

strong.<br />

Thursday 30th May saw <strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Network</strong> members<br />

escape to the amiable micro-climate of Tantalus<br />

Estate, on Waiheke Island, for a glorious<br />

Harvest Lunch, VIP transfers courtesy of Heletranz Helicopters.<br />

Tantalus Estate dotes proud, rich history and elegance<br />

and claims its place amongst New Zealand’s premium<br />

vineyards and restaurants. With the city of sails providing<br />

a serene day for flying from the Heletranz Heliport<br />

– guests began the day with a glass of champagne before<br />

boarding.<br />

On departure back to Heletranz Heliport, <strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong><br />

<strong>Network</strong> guests left with Tantalus Estate olive oil, and<br />

honey – showcasing one part of the delicious produce<br />

offering of the renowned destination venue. <strong>The</strong> treats<br />

continued as guests received a gift from Jo Malone London<br />

on arrival back at the heliport to treasure at home.<br />

Tantalus Estate chef Tino Passano, showcased the new<br />

Autumn-Winter Harvest menu; paired with pleasing<br />

wine matches that highlighted infused flavours from<br />

local produce. <strong>The</strong> menu showcased the diverse and<br />

plentiful bounty of ingredients unique to New Zealand.<br />

Seasonally sourced; guests indulged in Te Matuku Bay<br />

shucked Oysters, followed by an entrée, main, and dessert.<br />

Ora King Salmon, twice cooked Pork Belly, Hawkes<br />

Bay Lamb neck, and Longline Market Fish solidified as<br />

guest favourites, with each dish presenting a decadent<br />

flavour and taste profile.<br />

<strong>The</strong> light-filled venue fabricated from natural materials<br />

and set amongst the vines saw guests perched amid the<br />

hand-painted tile walls, and intricate chandeliers crafted<br />

from old vines, creating a nod to a bygone era.<br />

on City Walk this week, to announce the GCC sales of <strong>The</strong> Ritz-Carlton Residences in Colombo,<br />

set within a prestigious, new mixed-use complex that will offer occupants panoramic views of the Indian<br />

Ocean. Poised to cater to both luxury travelers and residents, <strong>The</strong> Ritz-Carlton, Colombo is expected to set a<br />

new standard for luxury in Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial capital city.<br />

“<strong>The</strong> One” luxury project will be composed of three gleaming glass towers set on four million square feet of<br />

films. Following on from a sell-out season in 2018,<br />

this year’s programme has been extended from 12 to<br />

14 sessions, providing cinema lovers with even more<br />

opportunities for a great night out. <strong>The</strong> 2019 season<br />

will run from 2nd to 15th May at the beautiful Tanjong<br />

Beach, Sentosa.<br />

“Peroni Sunset Cinema is the perfect place for a<br />

relaxed night out with friends,” explains event organizer<br />

Ben Williams. “<strong>The</strong>re’s an incredible atmosphere<br />

at the event as the sun is setting. It has a wonderful<br />

Films in this year’s programme include multiple Oscar<br />

winner Green Book, Rose Byrne and Mark Wahlberg’s<br />

feel-good movie Instant Family, and the blistering<br />

thriller Widows. Cinemagoers will also see director<br />

Robert Redford’s last outing <strong>The</strong> Old Man & the Gun,<br />

and the powerful biographical drama A Private War.<br />

FAR MORE THAN A CINEMA<br />

While the films are the star of the show, Peroni<br />

Sunset Cinema offers a complete night out. Many<br />

filmgoers choose to arrive when the gates open 5pm,<br />

to relax with a drink and dinner on the beach and to<br />

soak up the summer ambience as the sun sets. <strong>The</strong>re’s<br />

a bar and a food stall providing refreshing drinks and<br />

delicious meals, and DJs and musicians perform up<br />

until the film screening starts at 7.45pm.<br />

TRULY ‘SILENT CINEMA’<br />

Peroni Sunset Cinema is a ‘silent cinema’ meaning<br />

that speakers aren’t used to play the film audio.<br />

Instead, each guest is provided with a set of wireless<br />

headphones for a true immersive experience.<br />

Adjust the volume to your preferred level and shut<br />

out all distractions. Guests don’t need to use the<br />

headphones prior to the start of the film; DJ sets and<br />

live performances are broadcast via speakers on the<br />

beach<br />

DELICIOUS FOOD DRINKS<br />

At Peroni Sunset Cinema, the quality of food and<br />

drinks are just as important as the film itself. Guest<br />

are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the delicious<br />

On the occasion of the visit of Diplomatic Council Co-founders Mrs. Hang<br />

Nguyen und Mr. Andreas Dripke to Singapore, Ms. Irene Ho, Head of Mission<br />

Singapore, arranged for a yacht get-together with ambassadors and<br />

business members. <strong>The</strong> first-class and relaxed ambience on the boat offered the<br />

DEFY EL PRIMERO FUSEE TOURBILLON<br />

Since the dawn of precision<br />

timekeeping, watchmakers<br />

have sought to produce timepieces<br />

force”. Zenith reinterprets the fusee<br />

& chain constant force mechanism<br />

A New Vision of Haute Horlogerie<br />

Upon a first glance, it’s immediately<br />

clear that the DEFY Fusee Tourbillon’s<br />

calibre is out of the ordinary.<br />

<strong>The</strong> spoke design of the bridges<br />

is amplified by their bicolor finish,<br />

where the top satin-finished<br />

surface is given a black treatment,<br />

while its polished sides are a lighter<br />

grey rhodium tone. <strong>The</strong> layout<br />

of the bridges offers a balanced<br />

layout of the various functions and<br />

complications. On the top half of<br />

the movement, one can admire the<br />

uniquely conceived fusee and chain<br />

60 seconds. Like the chain, the<br />

tourbillon cage is embellished with<br />

a striking blue colour, reinforcing<br />

parts. Positioned at the edge of<br />

the dial between 4 and 5 o’clock, a<br />

red-tipped hand indicates the power<br />

reserve, a handy feature when<br />

manually winding the DEFY Fusee<br />

Tourbillon with its 50-hour power<br />

reserve.<br />

One extraordinary movement –<br />

two entirely different executions<br />

As a mechanical movement’s mainspring<br />

unwinds, the torque it delivers<br />

to the regulating organ drops,<br />

resulting in less efficient chronometric<br />

performance of the movement.<br />

A centuries-old solution to<br />

counter this and achieve constant<br />

force lies within the power source<br />

and its transmission. Known as<br />

the “fusee and chain” system, it<br />

features miniature chain is coiled<br />

around a conical “fusee” and attached<br />

to the mainspring barrel. As<br />

the mainspring unwinds, more of<br />

the chain wraps around the barrel,<br />

detaching itself from the wide conical<br />

base of the fusee. <strong>The</strong> greater<br />

turning movement provided by the<br />

fusee compensates the weakening<br />

mainspring pull, thus maintaining<br />

the torque and, consequently, the<br />

amplitude of the regulating organ<br />

constant throughout the duration<br />

of the mainspring’s autonomy.<br />

By combining the fusee and chain<br />

mechanism with a tourbillon regulating<br />

organ, Zenith places precision<br />

at the forefront of its unique<br />

take on haute horlogerie. Highlighting<br />

the unique technical and<br />

aesthetic prowess of the piece, the<br />

DEFY Fusee Tourbillon is produced<br />

in two different editions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> first version features a light<br />

yet robust carbon case, crown and<br />

buckle head. <strong>The</strong> carbon fibre treatment<br />

even extends to the open dial,<br />

Day 1<br />

Guests will be met off their flight<br />

at OR Tambo <strong>International</strong> Airport<br />

and transferred via private air

Kruger National Park. This flight is<br />

approximately one hour.<br />

On arrival at Skukuza Airport guests<br />

will be road transferred to Umganu<br />

Lodge at Elephant Point. <strong>The</strong> road<br />

transfer takes approximately 30<br />

minutes through the Kruger National<br />

Park.<br />

Late afternoon game drive in the<br />

Kruger National Park for sundowners<br />

followed by dinner at Umganu<br />

Lodge.<br />

Day 2<br />

Transfer via private air charter to<br />

Care For Wild Rhino Sanctuary for<br />

a once-in-a-lifetime rhino experience.<br />

After lunch guests fly back to<br />

Umganu Lodge for an afternoon<br />

Game Drive in the Kruger National<br />

Park followed by dinner.<br />

Day 3<br />

Guests will enjoy a game drive<br />

through the Kruger National Park<br />

on route to the privately owned<br />

Leopard Creek Country Club near<br />

Malelane.<br />

Play golf at Leopard Creek C.C. followed<br />

by refreshments on the clubhouse<br />

patio and then a game drive<br />

back to Umganu Lodge for dinner.<br />

Day 4<br />

After an early breakfast guests will<br />

be road transferred to Skukuza Airport<br />

for a private charter flight to the<br />

Klaserie or Timbivati Private Nature<br />

Reserve. <strong>The</strong> flight is approximately<br />

30 minutes. Enjoy a unique ”handson”<br />

rhino immobilisation followed by<br />

a safari lunch in the ”bush” before a<br />

private charter flight back to Skukuza<br />

Airport and then Umganu Lodge<br />

for sundowners and dinner.<br />

Day 5<br />

After breakfast guests will be<br />

road-transferred to Skukuza Airport<br />

for their private air charter to<br />

OR Tambo <strong>International</strong> Airport for<br />

their return international flight.<br />

for the Cartier Women’s Initiative. Founded by Cartier and INSEAD in 2006,<br />

<strong>The</strong> Cartier Women’s Initiative is an annual international business competition<br />

created in 2006 to identify, support and encourage projects by women entrepreneurs.<br />

It was fantastic to so many inspirational stories and network with truly incredible<br />

women, including one of our favourite Chinese fashion Influencers, Ruomeng 若 梦 , @<br />

liveinliving, who is a true disruptor in the media and fashion world.<br />

As the sun set over the Palm Jumeirah on the 1st<br />

of May, XXII Carat hosted the inauguration of its<br />

finished development inside one of the newly<br />

completed luxury villas. Upon arrival to the two-story<br />

home where the launch was being held, guests were<br />

greeted by the sight of three gleaming Rolls-Royce<br />

Black Badges, perfectly situated in the immaculately<br />

groomed avenue of the villa complex.<br />

Inside the beautifully decorated house, the attendees<br />

marveled at the high ceilings, sumptuous chandeliers,<br />

and gleaming marble floors of the residence, while also<br />

enjoying chilled beverages and a delectable spread of<br />

hors d’oeuvres from Galeries Lafayette.<br />

Throughout the evening, guests were also treated to<br />

showcases by several <strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Network</strong> members,<br />

including a full display of luxurious suits and accessories<br />

from Ascots and Chapels; a delightful caviar tasting<br />

by Gourmet House Caviar; and an impressive array<br />

of jewelry from Seba Jamal, which included bespoke<br />

pieces featuring the Rolls Royce logo.<br />

<strong>The</strong> invitees also enjoyed tours of the villa, which features<br />

several inviting bedrooms and a master bathroom<br />

fit for royalty. However, guests spent just as<br />

much time outside the house, enjoying views of the<br />

twilight over the sea as they lounged by the swimming<br />

pool or strolled across the perfectly manicured lawn.<br />

It was an evening enjoyed by all, and we know that the<br />

future residents of the ultra-luxury complex will enjoy<br />

every moment they spend in their home!<br />
