“It’s a feeling of interconnectivity
that you sometimes just don’t get
when you’re in the middle of
something. I think separating
ourselves from things that are
important to us is good because
you then appreciate it in a new way.
That definitely happened for me
with Earth.”
Nicole Stott, NASA astronaut, after she has
been watching planet earth from space for
104 days. (inverse.com. 2018)

Abstract
(en)lighten
mobility
Every year the global temperature
rises, every month the number of cars
in Germany increases and every average
day more than eight people die
in traffic accidents in Germany alone.
(destatis.de, 2019) It seems more than
obvious to me that we have to change
the way we move, and for this we also
have to redesign our mobility system.
With this project I want to change our
mobility habits and contribute to a
transformation of the mobility system
in the German-speaking world. To find
the best possible way, I had to reflect
my own habits, skills, personal background
and understand the current
mobility situation. I read studies, interviewed
experts, looked at case studies
and discussed the topic of more sustainable
mobility with various people.
The output of this project is an online
magazine filled with stories about
alternative means of transportation.
The articles consist of written text,
self-made photos and graphics and are
written by several external authors and
myself. Currently, external authors are
not paid with money but with personal
icons, which I design individually for
each one. Furthermore, the authors
get a stage with a growing number of
readers and Instagram-Followers for
their concerns and experiences.
Strohbonaut, das Magazin für
schwerelose Mobilität, aims to
enlighten its readers about environmentally
friendly mobility and thus
make our mobility lighter.
